ParticipantThanks for the feedback…I will practice some running without pointing lol and focusing on his head/eyes. I saw a lot of people do the FC on the landing side and it worked well….I was trying to practice my SERP but afterwards, realized that was probably not an ideal serp. π
I got started late yesterday and ground was pretty hard so I didn’t want to jump. But I did some pole work. The first time through he missed the second pole. Most of the times when we miss in the trial, this is what he does. After that he nailed everyone. Thoughts?

ParticipantDarn it, I fixed it!
Yea about the 11/22. I will get some more work done!

ParticipantHI! Thanks so much, I love the analysis and the ideas to make me better.
Run 1 – did not see the left option! Need to get better at that!
Run 2 – I knew you would like that blind!
Run 4 – My flailing arms are something I really need to work on. I was thinking that if I would have gotten more lateral on the poles, I would have been further ahead to make the blind or a front cross after jump 3..but I didn’t want to pull him out of the poles since he is 100% proofed yet. Here is the Time 2 Beat run
Do we have a little time left? I want to work the stuff you mentioned last week and we wont be having any rain this week.
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantOkay, so of course, it rained more and I am trialing so….here is my weekend videos. Toady was way better than yesterday…yesterday the wheels came off and our connection was off….totally me.
Jumpers – Saturday
Saturday Standard
Time 2 Beat Sunday
Tried a Serp which failed
Open Jumpers run – best of the weekend. Planned a blind before he triple but I did not move laterally during the poles like I planned…..He had such a nice entry and I wanted them to be successful so I did not push…thought looking at the video, I think I would have been fine.

ParticipantThanks! Nothing like a hard sequence to find the holes! I will work on those two things a bit more. I definitely felt like it was messy π
Yes, the Schnauzers rule the roost as you can imagine. Scooter was screaming lol….let YOUTUBE copyright that haha.
Thanks so much for your input!
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantI worked the first sequence and the connection was much better. Second sequence was very difficult for us. Sorry for the long video π
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantHere is the first week 5 sequence…wow he takes me by surprise on how fast he is!!!! The second run was just doing the opposite of a backside…I like to show contrast every once in awhile. π
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantI will work on the out more.
Here is the pole work I did …not sure what to do next..he nailed everything except the very first time when he came out early…please note these are the old 22β 2×2βs because that is all I had to make 4 poles…not sure if that matters or will mess me up
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantFinally got some training in! This is week 3 lessons. I struggled with the out versus donβt take it. He always wanted to take it. I tried to do some foundation work to convey what I wanted. I noticed my shoulders were turned which is a strong queue for him to take but I am not sure how to connect and not turn my shoulders lol.
Here is the back….much easier for us!
Short sequences:
Sorry no music…it seems I was getting in trouble with YOUTUBE because of background music.

ParticipantApparently it is going to rain everyday this week π So, I am uploading my Jumpers Run from Saturday for critque. This is the last one I have so hopefully tomorrow will be nice to me so I can actually do the week 2 homework!
Thanks again!
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantI will study the Standard run…I am thinking that I am getting better and all my classes with you will clear some of the wide turns up as we get more practice. I know that all this good connection is from working with you and practicing during the week. We feel really good right now and not so rushed and less panicked.
Yes, he trains on this turf every week.
JWW
this is NOT a FC course.
The funny thing is I totally knew that this was not a FC course but I walked it that way anyway. I tested a blind in my walk through but lost my courage because I have so little experience (But I am taking your blind class…so, I will feel better soon).
I did hear last week that Derrett handlers are starting to use blinds? Is that something you have heard? This is in the midwest so maybe it is in different parts of the country.
You had mentioned this before. I was wondering if you happen to know any handler names, I was going to try and look up some runs to see what they are doing on youtube. Once we work more on them, I will start putting them in where I think they work.
So like the DW entry, this is something to work on with just 4 poles β you moving while he is entering.
I will work on this but I do think that I may need help if it isnt working. I am afraid of breaking my poles.
I think you were helping and thinking on the fly
LOL, yes, I told her after, really? I walked all front crosses and while running the course completely changed my plan and almost made it happen! I would like to see her do that….it wouldn’t happen lol. I need to start listening to my gut on these walks.
I feel we are REALLY close to being a perfect team…I can taste it! Thanks for all of your great feedback!!!!

ParticipantSo last week was raining a lot and I did not get any of my homework done…and then I had a trial this weekend that I almost forgot about geez! So, I am posting my two runs from today for feedback.
The fist one I thought was beautiful except for the dog walk…which did scare me but he seemed okay so I redid it and kept going. I am not sure why he lost his footing.
There were some wide turn moments.
Jumpers…well, I walked all Fronts and then when I ran realized there was no way that I was going to get where I needed to be, so I did all rears..it looks like I am lost but I am not, I literally was coming up with a new plan on the fly and I just couldn’t pull off the end.
The poles, I rushed him…I have to let him load or he does not hit his entry.
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantAgreed about the high jumps….I worked a few grids but I am good with our work and moving on.
Here is week 2 sequences. Hoping I executed properly….looking forward to feedback!

ParticipantHere is are work tonight. He is moving much nicer. The exit work we were doing he landed way out on the jump after the tunnel (of course it was set at 26β which may have affected how far) but when I looked at the video it looked much cleaner than when I was a person.
The drive ahead portion the last rep was my favorite!
Heather Sidmore
ParticipantHi Tracy! Thank you for such a thorough review! You know I love music when training and it is great proofing start lines!!!
With the jump coming down, The last rep when he cleared it, I had moved him closer and I thought the issue was I was setting him too far back for where he likes to leave from.
However, I will get him with my Chiro. I struggle with him telling me if he is sore. He is so tough compared to a Schnauzer…the Schnauzer would be limping and crying at the smallest pain and Desmo is the complete opposite. He doesn’t like to tell me if he is sore.
I did know that the toy is what brought that bar down…shame on me lol.
On the next FC rep at 1:22, you can stay closer to the FC jump wing to create the line back to the tunnel – you moved away laterally here so he thought for a moment that you wanted the other end of the tunnel (and also decelerating into the FC will help tighten it up).
Yes, I redid that because I was in the wrong place and realized it when I saw how wide he was. Knowing where to be is something I am still getting a feel for so that I can give him good information.
LOL…I tried to figure out how to stay behind him and I kept being ahead…I am not very patient hehe.
He did herding yesterday so he is on a off day today, I will get some good stretching in Tuesday might rain so I probably will not post until Wednesday but that will give him some time and I will try to get in ASAP with Chiro.
When we are back out, I was thinking I would work the line where I wasn’t keeping my hand back and the drive ahead portion again…. any other ones I should try again before I start week 2?
