Here are the Toy and Food combo videos. I had to use food with Laci because she does not play with toys. For some reason, I had a difficult time getting Keko to play with any of his regular toys so I grabbed one of my husbands dirty socks out of the hamper (don’t tell him 🙂 )

Here are the food reinforcement videos for Laci and Keko. There is an Eskie chorus singing in the background during Keko’s training. Thankfully, he was able to ignore it. Laci decided to chase the cat for a couple of seconds during her session but I was able to quickly call her back. If you have a hard time telling them apart, Laci has the stick figure legs and Keko’s coat is fuller. I am struggling with the toy reinforcement training for Laci but will try to post those videos tomorrow.

Yes, she does always run faster at the end of the run and can be extremely fast if it is a straight line. Last year, I started running her in Premier courses and I wonder if that has slowed her down because she is uncertain where we are going next. I try to stay in front of her to make sure she knows where she is going. There are a couple of trials in January that I would like to enter but have not entered yet. I am looking forward to getting started on the first exercise tomorrow.

Thanks Kimberly, I am excited to be in this training. My husband is a Vet and we have run many tests and looked Kailani over from head to tail and cannot find any reason for her running slow. If anyone has any ideas on what to look for, I would love to hear about them. We have lasered her, used a light pad, tried pain meds and muscle relaxers (just in case). I do try to get Kailani excited at the beginning of the run but have not found anything that works except food. I recently taught her to tug but she will only do it for a few seconds and then drop the toy expecting a treat :-). I think she is only tugging to get a treat.

I am wondering if her slowness has anything to do with the surface and her just running cautious. I have found at some venues the surface is really bad the first day (hard, bumpy and lots of rocks) but on the second day the ground is better prepped. At another trial, the dog walk shook and rattled even for the small dogs. This caused my dogs to go very slow (10+ seconds) on the DW. We ended up leaving the trail early and going home to rebuild confidence on the DW.

Below is a recent JWW run and along with some videos from last year to compare. I think my handling has improved in the last year. I greatly appreciate your feed back. I am out of town until Sunday night (without my pups) and will start the first assignment on Monday.

Here is a video from training Laci today. Sorry, I was not able to get the full course but you can see that she is running faster then she was in the other videos. I know she dislikes whistles so that is one thing I need to work on.

I could not find any video’s when training Laci but I can take some this week. To be honest, I have almost given up on her until I found your training class. I don’t understand why she shuts down in the ring. Outside the ring, she is very confident, walks with her head high and tail up. She does not play with toys but is very food motivated. I created our first relaxation video. Do you want me to wait to post the relaxation video until after I post some training videos of Laci?
