ParticipantThanks for your encouraging words, and I appreciate your attention to the finer details! That’s why I took the class….to figure out how I can make my handling better for tighter lines and faster times! If you haven’t noticed…I’m quite competitive! LOL
I’ll be back for another class in the near future I’m sure! I appreciate your understanding of other methodologies and language, while clearly having a method and way of instruction that is uniquely your own.
Have a great holiday weekend aa well.

ParticipantHi Tracey,
It all makes sense, but a little frustrating that I just can’t seem to get it right by making the same mistakes. I’ll keep working it looking for those tighter turns! So..I guess this is it for class. In addition to the lifetime access to the material, do we also have access to the forum, more importantly your comments?

ParticipantHi Tracey,
Here’s week 5’s PIT. Wish I could have gotten more done this last week. I obsessed over seq 4 trying to get tighter turns on 3 and 4. Thanks ahead for your comments, and for a great class! I really enjoyed it!

ParticipantHi Tracey,
So it is one of your dogs that had surgery! Wishing him/her a full and speedy recovery!
Here’s week 4’s redo of Seq 5 working it two different ways. I get why you chose that extreme backside for this exercise…great skill to practice for sure! I did want to work on the 4-5 transition as well working two different handling options. It felt much better this time around.
Just for fun, I timed each one from jumps 1-7 with both Jake and Juno. The left wrap on 4 was slight faster within hundredths of seconds, and Jake was faster overall while having a wider margin between the two.
Wrapping up week 4 with thevGo line exercises. I think I was giving a little too much support on the backsides? Something to continue to work on…independence and trust!
Thank you!

ParticipantHi Tracey,
All your comments made sense. I also have seen comments that indicated you had knee surgery? Wishing you a full and speedy recovery! I’ve had an ACL repair myself so I know a little about knee stuff!
As far as my previous post: And btw some of those “tics” (not all) were Juno hitting sprinklers! FYI
Seq 3: “Only one tweak – a little more connection to his eyes on the wrap cue and less indication of the landing spot with your arm moving back will help him add more collection there, to make for a perfect turn.”
So…More arm to the jump, and eyes to where I’m going vs supporting the takeoff and landing that I’m so used to doing?
On Seq 5, obstacle 4 to 5 felt very awkward for me. I would be more inclined to do a FC after 3 to a left wrap/blind on 4, and a spin/throw back to the left on 5. I’ll have to try both and time it!
Good stuff!
Thanks for your comments!

ParticipantWoohoo…finally have some video of Week 4! I found disconnection to be more difficult than I thought it would be! This video was taken after 2 prior practice sessions. I had a hard time with some of the BC’s after the backsides especially with Seq 5 after obstacle 4. My natural inclination was to do a FC, which doesn’t work well at all to get the best line from 5 to 6. I was pleased with most of these sequences but know there is always room for improvement. And to your credit, I’m getting something out of this class that hopefully will make a difference in my handling going forward! Thank you!!

ParticipantSo…knowing I have until the 22nd, I decided to work these long sequences again focusing on the elements where I could improve noted in your comments. I think they were spot on and make sense to me!
Thank you!J

ParticipantHI Tracey!
Week 3…worked this over a couple days really concentrating on the inside shoulder thing! It’s amazing to me how much the video reveals vs what you think you’re doing! Anyway, I think I’m seeing some improvement with my body language?
Ready to move on to week 4…when is the last day to submit videos for this class? Thank you!

ParticipantThanks again, and please know I do read your responses carefully and look back on the video. Not sure why I wasn’t getting the “open” shoulder thing as you did explain it well.
Got it now and looking forward to getting it right!

ParticipantKindle is so incredibly intense and FAST..WOW! I love watching you two in action!

ParticipantHi Tracey,
Here’s Week 3’s seq 3 along with a couple repeat attempts Seq 1 and 2 focusing on the jump to tunnel “not so tight” turns…lol! After digesting your comments and trying to do the right thing, I didn’t do much better and this is my take on why.
In your previous comments you noted that it’s the exit line that is the element to focus on using eyes and shoulder position to connect to the exit line.
I knew when I was doing it, it still was not right because I wasn’t getting the tighter turn I wanted or expected. After looking at this video many times, I think it’s my “closed” shoulder? In my mind, I’m thinking that if I pull my shoulder in I will pull him in tighter/closer but the opposite is happening.
So..it appears that what I need to do is to “open” my shoulder while looking at him and putting my arm down and behind me to turn my upper body toward the preferred line? I hope this is right because I can’t think of anything else. I hope I can get this figured out…frustrated!

ParticipantHi Tracey,
Here’s week 3’s short sequences 1 and 2 only. I struggled with wide turns on 1 and 3, and worked these exercises for 2 days. Comments are noted on the video, but in a nutshell I think my arms are my worst enemy second to timing! Saying that and trying to keep to the point of the exercises, I’m not handling how I would naturally handle some turns and wonder if my own natural instinct with Juno isn’t the best way for us?
It seems that when I support the take off of an obstacle with my body and eyes, I get a much tighter turn vs intense connection and no support of the obstacle with my eyes? I’m sure it has something to do with my body following my eyes and thus giving him the strongest/correct information?
I look forward to your comments as always!

ParticipantThis was great, thank you! I wouldn’t have picked up the subtlety of my connections of him coming out of the tunnel if you didn’t mention it! It’s also interesting that on #2, on some attempts (not included) I was turned into him too much trying to get a strong direct connection, that he read the jump not so much as a lap, but as a threadle. He did the same thing here but I was anticipating it so I was able to push him around the correct side for a FC using my inside arm.
So, in a nut shell…I get tighter turns with direct connection, but need to work on timing, and without changing the line?

ParticipantHi Tracey,
Here is our FC timing challenge. I titled them as what I “thought” I was doing at the time. I’m thinking so much about “everything” I’m doing that it feels like work! LOL! I love the awareness that this class is bringing to my handling and hoping for a good take away!
FYI, I did work the other sequences as well and have questions but want to move on to week 3 exercises for now.
Thanks!
