ParticipantThank you Tracy! When I gave us more space and made sure I was more timely in my position and cueing her, she began turning the right way. Appreciate your feedback!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
In this weeks rear cross activity, you say it is ok if your pup turns the wrong way. We have practiced 3 times now and Lissy still turns the wrong way when I cross to her left. She turns correctly when I cross to her right. Is there a way to help her turn correctly. I feel like if I keep reinforcing, she will think that is what I want. At what point do I do something differently?
Thanks,
JenJen
ParticipantHi Tracy,
In Goat Tricks 2: Movement and Noise you talk about pairing the noise with good things using a high value treat at a high rate to avoid fear response.
Is it right to use this tactic in other situations? Lissy has started barking when she encounters things she is not sure about. We worked a lot of noise desensitization weeks ago (fluffing a garbage bag, banging a door, vacuum cleaner, pots and pans on wooden floor). She did great with all of it. Now a few weeks later, when she encounters these same things, she barks.
She has been doing well with meeting and greeting people but always barks anytime we see another dog (not our own dogs – we have with 3 other dogs and the breeder had multiple dogs of all sizes).
Can I use the high value rewards to try to curb some of the barking?
Thanks,
Jen and Lissy RoseJen
ParticipantSo excited to see another cocker spaniel (and his littermate) in the class! Looking forward to cheering on Venture. We are only auditing but can’t wait for the learning to begin!
