ParticipantThank you! We had a good time in Tulsa. The one bobble that made was at the weaves! Good thing we are in this class! I think had we been three clean, we had a high chance of making finals, so it gives us something to work harder for next year.
don’t think he was losing interest or too hot on the last part of the video, I think he had question based on the rep at 1:01 – he hit the entry correctly but you said ‘oops sorry’, no reward, so then he tried the other entry and was a little confused. I am not sure why he didn’t get the reward at 1:01
Oh goodness! I totally missed this. I think I thought he entered wrong there. Thank you for pointing that out.
I was really happy with the spacing between the sets of 2x2s and him collecting even though it’s hard for him
Reward for him coming back to your side, line up, take a breath, send.
This is awesome feedback. thanks! I think it will help in several ways in keep our engagement high.

ParticipantWe are back and had some time for 2x2s. He seemed to like running for the toy, although I should have stopped 2 reps before I did because he was hot and losing interest.

ParticipantInteresting observations here. I was really happy with his energy level for waiting. If I crate him or have him on leash while another dog he knows is running he typically SCREAMS if he can see and really exhausts him self. But coming into summer, calm behaviors are good to practice. It would be a good chance to practice waiting on a station, although I’ll probably have to switch to something really low level exciting.
Yes, Callie was in the reward line- stinker. Thankfully she’s a nimble ninja like 98% of the time and lives to Aussie body slam her brother. 😬

ParticipantSo I tried two pup mayhem. I had Callie out and did some intermittent tugging with her. Fever was all about his ball for this session. I have to say I was very impressed that he was able to work while his sister is out- although not super difficult work… this has been hard for him in the past because he can get herd-y.
I rewarded a wrong entry once because I got trigger happy with my reward marker. Oops.I probably could have added more movement looking back.

ParticipantI will say reinforcement hierarchy with him has been very difficult for me to figure out. Some days he’s absolutely crazy for toys and other it’s like MEHHHH. He absolutely adores swimming, but I don’t have a pool. Kiddie pool doesn’t meet the criteria for love of swimming. He usually likes food but sometimes won’t take it or gets all BC weird suddenly about textures 🤷♀️
I think having Callie out could cause FOMO which I could turn into arousal.Jamie Juckett
ParticipantAlright! The food robot got some life support in the form of a new remote battery. We tried channels again. I feel like his speed/drive is better than last attempt but still not where we started. I tried play in the middle to keep him excited but it didn’t seem to carry over. I noticed the MM placement was too far after a rep or two and moved it closer. Callie, Fever, and I will be leaving for Tulsa Wednesday, but I hope to get two more sessions in before then 🤞.

ParticipantI feel like we hit a stall. I tried the threadle with the 2×2. First season, I felt like he wasn’t clear on his line. I did have the dead manners minder out- but looking back placement could have been better. Overall, I didn’t feel like his enthusiasm was as high as it was previously. I think this session was Thursday.
We tried again today when we got home from Houston. He was having too many unsuccessful attempts. I opened them back up to try to help. I think I also had him too close looking back. We then moved in to channels for just a few. I really wasn’t getting the drive I wanted for the reward and stopped shortly after.

ParticipantI knew something felt different this session. It’s because I started drifting with a lead out 🤣. Oops.
I have 3 2×2 and a full set of channels. Should I complete the 2×2 track or jump straight into the channels? Fully open or partially closed?

ParticipantWow, I think the moving parts of this one made smoke come out my ears. I think I may be too early on my toy placement looking back- maybe lu-rly… although me moving, aiming, watching was SO HARD. My aim was pretty good here so I am proud. He did super. Zero failures other than an early take off without a release.
I didn’t need to do any collar restraint to get him have forward focus for this session. I felt like he was working without it. In general, I try to avoid color grabs in high arousal because they can sometimes lead to tooth hugs but we’ve gotten a lot better 😅.Jamie Juckett
ParticipantWe moved our angles and the poles to a slightly different spot in the yard. I was really trying to be specific with my feet placement to keep a parallels path with the weaves. I think I did a pretty good job except for the harsher angles ( around 9 and 3 o’clock ish. I felt he needed a step in or feet facing the weaves instead of forward. Overall a pretty good session.

ParticipantSo we started with 2×2 per your response. I tried to use my treat and train but it’s still boycotting from our last class. I think I’m going to have to take it apart or something because the food robot is not spitting cookies. I used a dead toy instead and he seemed happy enough. We did have a small drop in enthusiasm towards the end. It could have been because we had been at it for awhile or because he bit his tongue going for the ball- if you see a red mouth in our video.

ParticipantWe revisited the soft turns against and I added the wing. This one is just fun and motivational for both of us.
I’m pretty sure my video was capturing the sound of my quarantine thighs clapping together because I was doing some dramatic movements here 🤣

ParticipantGame 12 part 2, deep versus go on
He read the serp very well. The layered go was hard. I did several reps of just straight go ons with little motion so we could eventually do the layer. Slightly before our last and finally successful rep I started saying inspirational messages to myself that may have included “say it (your verbal) like you mean it” and “feet are the future” and then he got it and I ended that session to not push out luck.
I feel like for his level the movement of me through the box was super challenging. I tried taking the bar away to make it easier but I still think the movement caught him.
Jamie Juckett
ParticipantWe tried game 12. Are you still accepting videos? If not, my apologies! I let this training season go on for too long trying to get these inside wing backsides. I bombed the backlap and didn’t feel the need to repeat it as I don’t think I executed it correctly. Stationary skills are very hard for me.
One thing I noted on what I think was our very last rep was that he was on the correct line and changes. I’m assuming I did something to make him question his path.
Is there anything from the class that you’d like to see is revisit- I realize you are instructing several classes and students and if nothing jogs your memory 100% okay.

ParticipantI’ll play Taylor Swift’s “you need to calm down” for my next session as a reminder for me 🤣
