Me films a working segment and thinks I’ll edit and post later… and then forgets
I’m going to play catch up this week!

I left some transition footage. We were having a lot of victory lapping and frustration over toy exchange. I’ve switched to using two frisbees to see if that helps some. Like your idea at the seminar, I may just let him hold it if he doesn’t want to drop but he did good here.

    Handling 2
This was fun until we got to the disconnected part. Callie is experienced enough she saved me (which is interesting because although more experienced, her words aren’t as strong)
    He didn’t save me 🤣
I think I took it to the extreme but yeah.
One small disconnect moment and he emptied a buckets worth of bladder and came right back to work

    Morning!
It’s either been miserably hot or storming here. I don’t recall a summer this rainy ever 😅.

We were happy to do something easy so we tried the verbals skills. I initially started with the frizz which seemed to be too much and had to back pedal some.

Thanks for your patience during the live! I feel like working with you in real time always comes with crisis 🤣 but everything ends up okay. Dan and Dave, Fever getting briefly lost, storms and a bitten tongue (he got blood on the bars).
I’m really glad he recovered so well. We wouldn’t have been there months ago so that’s awesome!

If I were going to work the tunnel rear cross to have him successful, should I start with my small tunnel, a wing, and a toy placed on the landing side and then work up from there?

Behind the back starts! This was a super quick session as I started laying out the course for live camp. We do an around for frizz toss which looks very similar, however he kicks way out anticipating the throw. Should I switch to food and put it on a new word? Try a different toy?

I usually have him come around my left side. I switched sides and it 🤯.

So for live camp tomorrow, the heat index will be 105. We will try our best to hang in. I also realized when I tried to film today that I left my tripod in GA… which I guess is better than leaving my heart in San Fransisco, but I have to see if I can get a replacement. The stars aren’t feeling in my alignment 🤣.

You’ll have a blast with Annette… maybe it will be cool and breezy out?

I’m ready for fun! I’m just tired from all the travel and I’m going solo without Carrie

It’s at Melody’s place, so no breeze but cool and fabulous!

He’s looking so good in general. I’m really proud of him!

Was this the first time he saw a wing there? He figured it out immediately and got a whole lot of great entries

It was! I wasn’t sure how it would go but he had zero hesitation. I like the idea of putting it on course. Thank you!

We are seminaring with Annette Saturday and Sunday so more travel 😴

The heat is oppressive here and I’m struggling with motivation. It was a bit cooler today and dry.
We just played a super short weave session.
    Hope all is well!

Okay let me set the scene here because the handling/sequencing wasn’t our best but BEHAVIOR was 💣

Right before I pulled him out to run, there was a good bit of thunder and fireworks (fml). I let him swim because he didn’t act like lasers were shooting border collies from the sky.
First sequences- really just wanted to keep him moving because of the impeding Armageddon. He has a lot of forward go.

Vou, Roulez, and Blink the sheltie screamed the second time he ran. The sheltie kept rushing his crate and growling- Fever was brilliant here too

Second sequence attempt- we don’t have turns. I kept rushing the opening and not giving enough turn cue because I wasn’t trusting the lead out.
The threadle wrap at the Aframe- Ideally I’d like to send to the far wing but the build limits that. I don’t think the visual was clear. He tried but just kept circling.

I felt like things were quite the disaster in the moment but upon reviewing, it wasn’t terrible.
He really didn’t want his frizz or treats for me, he just wanted to swim so that’s 😬

He’s on his 6th week of being therapeutic with Zoloft. I’m really liking what I’m seeing from him. He seems much happier also. Thank you for for your suggestions here. I’m not sure I would have done it on my own.

    Standard 1

We modified this to fit- the Aframe replaced the teeter and it worked well enough

The line from the DW to tunnel gave me fits. I feel like there was a sweet spot I didn’t quite hit.

Happy he sent to that first jump and I could get a cross in.

We played with our frizz too. He ditched it a few times to think about the pool.

He wasn’t super great about taking his reinforcement- he kept wanting to run to to the fence for swimming. I know I need to battle this monster but it just feels so discouraging. I’m working on my motivation for that

For the DW off course, normally, I would have let him run it because it was 100 what was cued and j didn’t even notice it when I walked, but it was wet and slippery so I stopped it.

He was a little wide on the wrap turn but that is fine for now – as you add more connection, you can add it sooner and decel sooner, with the wrap verbal repeated a bit more

I feel like our wraps at speed need work so I’m hopeful in improving them with you. He tends to be a bit wide.

Sequence 2 looked good as well – the right verbal might even have been a shade early

That’s it. I’m framing this and putting it on a tshirt and won’t take any further feedback. I’ll just bask in my early glory forever. Thank you
I was surprised he did that turn so well. His lefts and rights just feel so much bette than I think I deserve. He’s a good buddy.

Also for the toy- I had been trying to throw as you suggested in our other class to keep the comittment but he doesn’t digging it while thinking about the pool. I guess I should try a frizz and see but if those aren’t working and he prefers to take it from my hand, do you have other suggestions?
I’m doing a seminar in 2 weeks and I’ll have Britney there. Her dog likes when I run on the line and she chases me down for the reward. I suppose that’s an option to try with him?

    ECS take two

It’s been so long since I have been in Carrie’s yard that I started him at 20. I remembered and dropped him back down.

We had a few missed jumps- which I fixed then- bad Jamie but I didn’t see any melting or Uber summoning. He had fleeting thoughts about how wonderful swimming feels the whole time but it was in the 80s and the air was vapor so I don’t really blame him.

For the last sequence, I really wanted this layer to work. I feel like we were close but didn’t get it either time.

    Skills sequence 1
The trees made this a bit more challenging than I anticipated- particularly the attempted layer of the large tree. I think I should probably do the rest in Carrie’s yard so I can handle better but I needed to get off my ass and do something.
He’s jumping 12 here and boy my timing is off 😅.

Does he get super worried at the vet? Does he have any tech girlfriends that he loves (sorry to the male techs, but my boy dogs seem to gravitate towards the female techs :)) I have not found hip xrays to be traumatic in terms of the sedation or brief vet stay, so hopefully there is a way to get him comfy with it.

Honestly, we have been to the vet so infrequently, I’m not sure what would happen. He’s been for puppy stuff and just annuals. We switched vets about 6 months ago but that was our first visit.

I just remembered that I asked if you could post HSM’s slingshot and was supposed to remind you. Can you post?

Also is today the last day for submissions? I’m anxiously awaiting CAMP!
