ParticipantOkay. The sit-stay. Geez I had to go back and look at some video’s lol. I do it off to the side. Put them in the sit and walk up. Only time I might do it in front of them is if I have to walk up the right side. Just a little sit as I am walking. I prefer not to have to be in front of them for the Start line stay. That’s what I will work on with Ruby. Oh geez. Get rid of the cookies in the hand. Bad mommy!! And Dig,dig, dig…no GO. Yea. I don’t tell Jedi to Go, when it is a Dig,… I should have known that. Dig…means to also add strides and you are going to turn. I need to say it way early for him. It really works, It’s a great tool. 🙂 And yea. I send with the hand next to the jump with him too. I’ll redue these. 🙂 Thanks!

ParticipantAnd….a bonus video. We’ve been working hard on our start line stay. I still do the “catch” and the “Pizza…..” sometimes. And then walk off more smoothly to the other side of the jump. Every time I released her it was on my “break” cue. Wew!! It’s coming. Now I can do the “strike a pose” better too on the other side of the jump. Hmm…I still have to remember to put her in the sit stay at my side. I always forget. I think the last one I did. Oh did you notice I had the M.M out too. She checked it out at the beginning, but not too bad after that. I have to remember to set that out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZjKXOoChLY

ParticipantHere is the wk 5 Concept transfer 2: Rotated sends. Hmm…not too bad. Just a couple times she didn’t take it. I’m doing my “Dig,dig, dig” like you said which is take the jump and come back. I think she is understanding that. I warmed her up and then did Sideways and Backwards. Even accidentally put in a but -pass. lol. Hmmm…now I see it says to start with pup in front of you. Didn’t really do that. Oh. I switched off from the toy and treats. Got downstairs and couldn’t remember what you used in the video. Both worked. Once the treats come out she really likes them though. Oh that’s right. I had really good ones. I was going to try some not quite so high value when I want to tug too. Next time! lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iRSYfsLrNQ

ParticipantWe did the turn, off the Parallel line lesson. How is this? She caught on right away. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhVKsVM5SoE

ParticipantI think I got it. Connect, call, reward.
Joni Steinbach
ParticipantKind of confusing. So…..go up the same, her on my right. Then turn and keep her on my right? In other words bring her around and not let her take the jump back? Then maybe toss a cookie? Oh yea. It says reward. Do you have a video. I need more coffee too. lol.

ParticipantOkay. We just redid the Parallel path commitment. I moved the jump out. At first I am closer but lots of movement. She did good. Yea. It’s I’m a little lat with my “yes” but it gets better. And I’m late with my toss too, but that gets better too. Then I get lots of distance and funky moves. lol. She really likes that jump. lol. She just focuses on that. Hmm…I’m going to do this at Bonnies where I have more room sometime. I ran out of room. But I did actually get pretty far away. Maybe enough for a baby dog? Ha,ha! She really was going fast. Maybe you can’t tell here but I was like, “geez, she’s movin.” lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBx8f-t_5-4

ParticipantAnd here is the Advanced level: Adding lateral distance. Ha,ha. Little smarty pants. I put down that piece of white tape so I would stay back 3 ft or more. She checks it out after I put it there and at .12 she kinda goes for it but was like, “Ooops..I gotta get this jump.” Ha!! I see now she went to check it out at the very end too. LOL. Still good commitment and again I could see her looking at the jump when I was doing it. Even at .30 when the treat went way off course she went out and got the jump. Wow. Cool. I didn’t help at all. It said to walk leisurely. Good job Rubylicious. 🙂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSGV7HCDeto

ParticipantHere is our wk 5 Concept transfer 1 :Parallel path commitment. Of course. She liked this too. lol. This is the baby level. Nice commitment. You can see her looking at the jump. Then sometimes she looks to me after the jump when the treat is late. But I could tell when we were doing it, she was really looking at the jump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBiGN1obSO4

ParticipantExits! Yes! I call them possible scenarios of what could or is going to happen after the DW. lol. Okay. Thanks I will keep those two ladies in mind. I’ve heard of Jordan Biggs. Yea I know who she is. Does she use the mat like this? I kinda like it. Dawn does too.
Okay. Delay the click till #4 hits. Praise, reset if she don’t, party! Got it.And I wrote down your new directions for the MM. Yea. Jedi kinda really loves the MM. He will try to get to it sometimes when I don’t want him to yet. Hmmm….maybe I will do the last stuff you said with him…….LOL. Thanks!!

ParticipantHere is a redue of the Mat and MM. I did the You-mat-MM. And played with the toy on the way back. Didn’t go too bad. But yea. she really likes the MM. At 1.05 I let her win with the toy and she goes to the MM. At 1.14 she scratched. At 1:29 I got a good tug game before and she ran back with enthusiasm to the MM!. The next couple ones are really nice. 1:47 Really nice. Then she maybe got tired of the game. It went on too long? I did the other video before this. So I stopped. Need to keep these sessions shorter maybe? But yea. The tug when she went the other way pumped her up. I like that. 🙂 Oh and I stayed back and she work independent. Cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsFcezeHitw

ParticipantOkay. I redid the Going through the mat. Not too bad. Still could be better. I kept treats in my hand. Am I still throwing it too late? It looks like it in the video. Going Up…looks better than coming back. Throwing it with my left. I’ll try to get quicker yet. And then we were on a role. I forgot to tug. lol. And then when I moved my chair out she came out and just hit the edge of the mat. Is that okay or should she stay in the middle. It seems so……easy. lol. Not! But she did good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4CymbyooyM

ParticipantStand still and sit. We want this super independent. Got it. Have treats ready. Oh I’m so bad about that. lol. K. I can use the MM as a clicker. Hey!!! I was wondering about that. I think I did it a few times on the tunnels. I have done it with Jedi too. Oh that will help. Those MM are kinda slow……sometimes. Maybe I need smaller treats. Okay got it. Me, mat , MM. Yea she really likes the MM. Okay tug to maintain balance. Got it. Yea I’m sure training it has changed a lot from when Jedi and Voo-doo were young. Hmm….maybe I would even see what else is out the for training techniques. I did Dawn Weaver with Jedi. On-line classes. I have all my info from that. I just figured I would do it again. But wouldn’t hurt to see what else is out there. She doesn’t do on-lone classes anymore. And people don’t realize once you have the Running DW down. All the turns and the straight ones and the tight turns and verbals, one of the hardest thing is when you get on course and you never know what the scenario is going to be. It’s NOT always black and wht. Left-right-go on. I use Rop for a tight right and twirl for a tight left. It might be…..”Well the DW is lined up with a tunnel but it is the jump kinda sorta off to the left. But then there is a jump that is a TRUE left”. How do I not get that and get the one I need? Every course is different. Some are easy. Some are not. YOu know what I’m saying. It’s what comes AFTER…the DW that is hard. I call them scenarios’. lol I save them and set them up a lot. Maybe that’s what I talk about maintenance more. 🙂 Okay. I’m going to redue these right away.

ParticipantRunning Contacts the reward Element. Treat trainer. Oh this went good too. She liked this too. I can’t time my clicker and beep of the TT. If I click the back feet and then the TT, the TT takes too long to dispense. So….at about 1.40 I click and hit the TT at the same time. That worked really good. Then the treats were dispensed by the time she got there. NOt after. Wew! lol. I’m also having a hard time bringing her around. Is it okay if she goes back over the mat? Should I be rewarding that? Or try harder to bring her around my right? At this point I am thinking I will for sure have a running A-Frame with her and I am undecided about the Dog Walk. Jedi has both. It’s a lot to train (it’s like a lifetime of maintenance) but It’s pretty cool when you get the final result. Hmm…..I bet I will just do running DW with her too. I know how to train it. So that’s good. I used the mat and the low box with Jedi too. Still do use the mat sometimes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0H9WEDxgPGQ

ParticipantNext step. Running contact Drive through……Wow this went good too. I’m clicking the back feet. Wow fun!! About half way through if I tried to get a little distance she ran along the edge of the mat. So I made it smaller. Then she actually went more in the middle of the mat. One time she missed though. LOL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpqhWdoD9M8
