ParticipantI think the standard increments for adjustment are 2”, but I just moved it in a little bit from the end and had just a little movement. He definitely noticed! He worked through it but never quite as confident as with no movement. I moved it so it tipped a little more to see how he responded. Definitely noticed but seemed to work through it a little quicker…but still has this “crouchy” stance at the end. He’s a dog that usually if he sits on something that he has concerns about for a day or two when we come back to it he’s totally fine with it. So it will be interesting to see how he responds in a few days.

ParticipantSome more fun with the teeter……More Mountain climbing and some Bang Game
I was really happy with his enthusiasm for both games, especially the Mountain Climbers. I assume these eventually add some motion with the board. I’m guessing that is going to be a bit of an issue for us to work through. Hopefully we’re able to work through it as well as he has overcome his initial concerns with the height.
One of the things I noticed with the bang game is that he is much more comfortable off my left side than off my right side. We’ve seen this with other things, like turns and sends. Hmmm…. knowing how much of a creature of habit I am I bet for whatever reason I tend to work off my left more than my right. Going to try to make a conscience effort to start off my right for awhile and see if that helps. Hope you had a nice New Years and a nice weekend.

ParticipantThanks Abby. I wasn’t sure if the break week was a “numbered” week or not but it makes sense… The actual Week 3 was the break week and this is actually the 4th week of the session, thus Week 4 games. 🤪 It’s pretty easy to confuse me these days!
I just checked out your thread, great questions!!! How old and what kind of dog is Merlin?

ParticipantThanks Tracy. I was just looking at the new games and it says Week 4…but there is no Week 3? 🙂 I’m probably the 100th person to ask this, right? Happy 2021!!!!

ParticipantChanged it up this week and played with contacts. Three short sessions of Mountain Climbers. The video has our very first attempt and then a few reps from today’s short session. Just gotta find the right reward 😊
And this is from today’s session playing with plank entries. We’ve done a few short sessions playing with this over the last several days. I tried something a little different than the broad jump board chute. My thinking is that the 2 plastic cylinders help form a chute for him to enter but allow him to still see the end of the board. I made sure he knew they were there so he didn’t crash into them. My concern is that he thinks of them like wrapping a barrel but I don’t think I see that…at least not yet. 😉

ParticipantReally liked the GOs here….still don’t have my feet/turn/timing quite right on the wraps but a little better. Hope you had a nice Christmas. Mags is on her way out of heat, Sly is returning to some sense of normal and everyone has slept for the past two nights. Life is good 😊

ParticipantThis is a short clip from a few days ago. Had hoped to get back to this exercise before now as I think it’s one that will really help both of us but alas… didn’t happen. It didn’t feel like a good session… I left out all the reps where my ball throwing on the Go was embarrassing 😳
Anyway, Mags is in full standing heat, Sly has barely eaten in 3 days and won’t take a treat, not even last night’s pork chop and there hasn’t been much sleep in the house for a couple of nights. Wish us luck and we’ll see you in a few days. Have a wonderful Christmas!

ParticipantFrom the last couple of days….. This first one was hard for us as I realized that I’ve set up this pattern of when I walk slowly we almost always go to his “Through” position and he sets up between my legs. Had to help him through this part and then once he got that we got to work on the actual skill this game focuses on. Interesting how there’s a definite place where just a little more motion is more than he can currently deal with. And I need to be careful about cueing the sit always at the same time or place!!! Another really great exercise for us 🙂
And then this one actually went much “smoother” than I thought it would so I just kept going through all the different levels of difficulty without as much of a plan as I normally would have but this was fun and I was thrilled with how most of it went.

ParticipantHere’s a couple of videos from some of the stuff we’ve done the last couple of days. I think I mentioned that we are taking Katarina’s Young Dog RC Foundations class so we’ve done a lot of getting him comfortable on a plank. Always good to go back and review though. Sharing this one with you in case you see something I might be missing.
And yes, I LOVE the way he is learning to power in and out of his turns 🙂 🙂 🙂

ParticipantOh thank goodness, Mom is moving!!!

ParticipantHi Tracy, thanks. Exactly the input I was looking for. MaxPup it is!!! I’ll wait in blinds…. but I do so love blinds. Hmmm… maybe I could do that with Mags. I’ll need to think about that one 😊. Did you see the post before this one? Real short clip of some of where we are with the Disconnect to Go. Hope your patient is recovering nicely!!! And thanks again

ParticipantCouple of housekeeping type questions….
1) When does this class officially end?
2) We have access to all the material for how long? There’s SO many good games still for us to play!
3) And Sly and I DEFINITELY want to continue with you for the winter. I just saw your Facebook post and part of me would love to do them ALL…not very realistic, huh? What would you recommend? He’s 13 months old now, I have a 40×120 indoor heated training space with all the equipment and we are in Katarina’s Young Dog RC Foundations class and plan to continue with that. We do an every other week lesson with Lo Baker so are getting in some sequencing. I’d love to have your recommendation.Again, take care! And thank you!!!
