ParticipantFrom the last couple of days….. This first one was hard for us as I realized that I’ve set up this pattern of when I walk slowly we almost always go to his “Through” position and he sets up between my legs. Had to help him through this part and then once he got that we got to work on the actual skill this game focuses on. Interesting how there’s a definite place where just a little more motion is more than he can currently deal with. And I need to be careful about cueing the sit always at the same time or place!!! Another really great exercise for us π
And then this one actually went much “smoother” than I thought it would so I just kept going through all the different levels of difficulty without as much of a plan as I normally would have but this was fun and I was thrilled with how most of it went.

ParticipantHere’s a couple of videos from some of the stuff we’ve done the last couple of days. I think I mentioned that we are taking Katarina’s Young Dog RC Foundations class so we’ve done a lot of getting him comfortable on a plank. Always good to go back and review though. Sharing this one with you in case you see something I might be missing.
And yes, I LOVE the way he is learning to power in and out of his turns π π π

ParticipantOh thank goodness, Mom is moving!!!

ParticipantHi Tracy, thanks. Exactly the input I was looking for. MaxPup it is!!! Iβll wait in blinds…. but I do so love blinds. Hmmm… maybe I could do that with Mags. Iβll need to think about that one π. Did you see the post before this one? Real short clip of some of where we are with the Disconnect to Go. Hope your patient is recovering nicely!!! And thanks again

ParticipantCouple of housekeeping type questions….
1) When does this class officially end?
2) We have access to all the material for how long? There’s SO many good games still for us to play!
3) And Sly and I DEFINITELY want to continue with you for the winter. I just saw your Facebook post and part of me would love to do them ALL…not very realistic, huh? What would you recommend? He’s 13 months old now, I have a 40×120 indoor heated training space with all the equipment and we are in Katarina’s Young Dog RC Foundations class and plan to continue with that. We do an every other week lesson with Lo Baker so are getting in some sequencing. I’d love to have your recommendation.Again, take care! And thank you!!!

ParticipantHoly Crap! How has it been 6 days since I last posted anything π Hope Hot Sauce is doing well!!! Sending lots of heal quickly and completely wishes your way.
I have been doing some training and actually have several videos mostly working with the “disconnect on a go line” exercise that never got edited and posted so here’s a quick snippet of where we currently are. Unfortunately I didn’t turn the phone on so had to do another rep for video….and as you said this really is physically demanding training so he’s a touch slower on this rep than the one I wish I had captured for you. We’ve played with this to a food bowl, thrown ball and today a dead toy at the end of a really long line. This a training concept that I’ve never had explained in quite this way before I really do want to say thanks.
Hang in there….again, healing thoughts headed your way!

ParticipantThanks Tracy, we played with the Week 6 Get Out Game this morning. He may be a foodie….but the cheapo Hartz Bacon Ball trumps it all!!! π

ParticipantGood morning….ooops guess it’s really afternoon, isn’t it? Short session this morning of the ZigZag …..mixed in with lots of startline stuff. He liked this one. I was going to do short session with the Go stuff but decided it’s too nice out so we’re heading out for some leaf raking π Have a good weekend.

ParticipantHi Tracy, thank you for the lengthy and thoughtful answer. I think you are probably exactly right about the driving ahead thing. Heβs got great sends which allow me to almost always get ahead and he does like to drive and chase me down a line but thatβs not the skill needed for a rear, is it?!? π€ͺ I love your idea for me the handle the Go like the RC…. ie. stay by the barrel, start with preplaced reward. Weβll play with this some this week. Itβll be a good switch up for us both!!! Thanks again!!!
Kim Tees
ParticipantIt does, Tracy…makes total sense. I don’t think I so much saw it but I “felt” it. We played with the Rear Cross/Turn and Burn over the weekend and I felt it with this too…..not the same drive out of the turn around the barrel as we went on. I’m thinking he’s telling me that the sessions are getting too long and/or too much thinking so I’m planning to play some of the handling games where he’ll get to run a little more….like the Diamond Game or something similar. Your thoughts?
And oh yeah…… on the next to the last rep of the rear crosses to his left I forget to use his Left verbal and on the next one I remembered. I don’t like that I forgot but I sure did like how it helped him understand the cross on the next one when I remembered π

ParticipantA little Minny Pinny today π This was hard as there was a baggie of treats on the box behind him so incorporated a little leave the treats to get the treats training which made the overall session way too long to include all of it in the video… this felt like a really good session π
Have a great weekend!
Kim Tees
ParticipantMore failures than I would have liked but heβs definitely growing up…. was able to stick with it, think through it and did not get frustrated πβ€οΈπ Interesting how our backside verbal is much stronger/clearer to him when coming from a straight line to the front of the jump….from the side is really hard!
I canβt believe we are already at Week 6, where does the time go? Are you planning a MaxPup 3 – Sly and I both hope so!!!! Take care, stay well.
Kim Tees
ParticipantTook the opportunity to go back and play one of the games we had missed…… I missed this in the Summer Camp too π So I hope I’ve got it set up correctly. Have a great weekend!

ParticipantThanks Tracy…..we played Sends and Serps for breakfast again…it was supposed to be from the other side but clearly I hadn’t had enough coffee yet to figure out the spacial challenge of switching sides!!!
Here’s the Week 4, Wind in Your Hair Game with Rears and Wraps. Clearly RC’s are NOT my strong suit! Good boy Sly for hanging in with me. We both like our BS Wraps though π
And here’s Sends and Serps

ParticipantUpped the game for Sends and Serps π Outside, played for breakfast (HIGHLY desirable!!!) Now if I can just remember to switch my verbal cue from Left to Right we’ll be all set. Hope you had a good weekend. Sorry about the “butt shots” – someday I swear I’ll figure out camera locations!!!!
