Super helpful details. I’ll post some video later. In answer to questions:
    – when does this happen in the session? At the beginning? In the middle? After a failure? All the time? All the time!
    – how often does she get to play with toys and have big run arounds with toys, without being in a formal training session? We play pretty regularly outside with toys. Maybe not enough? Should we do that more?
    – what type of toys does this happen with? The only toy she seems to be “sort of regularly” bringing back (in my vicinity) is a ball if we are playing with a chuck it. I toss the ball she gets it brings near me and I reward with a cookie, she trades ball for cookie.

    THanks!

I am having a good deal of trouble/frustration with her not bringing a toy back to me. She grabs it and runs around and will actively avoid me. Makes using a toy for a reward very hard to do and makes training sessions more about getting the toy back than anything else. I try trading the toy for a food reward, which she is happy to do (loves food also). But still doesn’t bring the toy all the way to me. Tried working on this inside with minimal space/distractions. Helped some inside but no transfer of behavior to outside. HELP!

She played with the toy but also tends to run off with it and have a party of one. She will go back and forth pretty easily between food and toys. Running to a dead toy was a challenge early on and still apparently is one. So we can work on that. I could use some more help on building drive to a dead toy. Right now she wont drive out to a toy laid on the ground as a reward.
    Thanks!

I actually have done a few others but the tech gods aren’t liking me today so I’ll have to try and get them to youtube over the weekend.

I really look forward to learning more about the arousal and working with it for best performance! Thanks

Interesting about using the toy. I used food specifically because of her arousal with a toy. Which is so funny since initially she wasn’t interested in toys. Now they are manna from the gods. I’ll play around with that some this weekend. We’ll be at her first trial so it will be a great opportunity to work on focus during arousal.
She loves to tug but if there is food in the picture it can sometimes take some energy to get her to switch back to the toy. We had quite a bit of work early on to get her interested in toys and tugging. The early games of hold the collar drop the toy and let her drive to the toy were really hard for her.
I’ll work on the connection after the tunnel. I started rewarding her at my side after the tunnel to encourage her coming back to me if I didn’t tell her anything else. We have done a bit of driving straight out of the tunnel to a toy. Or like you say I could have been blocking the wing.
I also noticed that I need to be careful with my feet. If I didn’t step in with the appropriate foot she didn’t seem to understand.
Thanks for the observations and feedback
