ParticipantHappy New Year!!!!! I hope you had the best celebration!!!
We took advantage of the holiday & played games ☺Thanks for the great feedback! I noticed her build that loop in there too & was so excited that she connected the dots. Smartie!
>>And definitely take a look at the resilience games
Yes! Yes! So much yes! We have been doing (& I LOVE) the Predictability Part 2 game. I haven’t been recording them, but I will. I have been playing it when we go to trials or any new environment and it really helps her have something familiar to do. We went to the Invitational in Orlando as a cheer-squad and she had an unusual day where she seemed afraid of a large dog off in the distance. I moved her away & we went back inside but, later, I took her back outside to the same area (dog was gone) and played that game and she relaxed. I’ll start on the Part 3. I’m going to teach Frankie these games too – I think they will really help her with her fearfulness <3
I started the Beginning Start Line Stay game. I started with the “Catch” part using food. I let her offer a sit at first and then after a while, I asked her to sit. I have a question on how to introduce the “Break”. This is a new verbal for her. I want to use “break” because my “ok” is sloppy – hahaha. I say it way too much! Do I just add the “break” cue at the end of the “Catch” sequence & run with her? Or should I also add the “get it” along with the “break”?
Rocking Horse – Adding distance & introducing side sends
I’m curious to hear your feedback on this. We started off a little slow and she didn’t commit to the barrels at first. Once we warmed up, she had fun & showed more commitment. I definitely think she likes this game more with toys.Alternate Rear Cross – Session 2 go slower & hold her collar & release to cookie
We got a left turn rear cross!!! I had to slow things way down and get my hand in front of her face to show her the direction & get the turns, but we got it! Hopefully she will remember some muscle memory when we try again.Hind End Awareness
I tried the chair and moved back to get a little more distance between her back feet & the mat. Yay! There was less bow-ing (as sad as that is really because it is so cute)
Thank you so much for reviewing this avalanche of videos!!!

ParticipantThanks for the great feedback on the backing up. I will try the chair!
Concept Transfer: Parallel Path Commitment
I used a lotus ball toy, but didn’t need the treats inside. She was happy with just the toy. I don’t thnk she cared where I was at all once the toy was introduced.
Strike A Pose Part 2: Concept Transfer For Serpentines
I added her mat to help with the stays. I usually don’t step over the jump when I leave them at the startline but I didn’t want to make the stay too advanced. I hope that is ok. At one point she ran & got a toy, so we played and then I switched to the toy as a reward.
I moved closer to the jump too and lined up with the wings.
Blind Cross Foundations Session 2
I added her mat to try & get more distance so I could improve the side change. She was a champ even though I am still too slow. I also did a refresh on the drive to handler decel at the end.
I think I need to go back over the previous week’s games & find what I’m missing. Since we were behind, do you see any “holes” that we need to work on next? I think I need to revisit countermotion.
Thank you!!!!

ParticipantThank you for the verbals feedback! I laughed so hard at “bend” & “snap”! LOL I’ve got to make a decision on the left/right wraps.
Also, thanks for the encouragement on the last session! I almost didn’t send the video but wanted to be honest about our session progress.
Here is what we have worked on ☺
I think I need to work on cleaning up my markers or is it ok to cheer the puppy on after the initial “yes!”? I’m saying a lot to her.
Hind End Awareness: Backing up 2.
I think she had a lightbulb moment about her rear feet touching the mat during the session! I figured out the best spot to place the starter cookie to help her be successful. I need to improve my click timing to be clearer to her what I’m asking for. I still think she is pushing back with her front though. I’m not sure how to change that.
Rocking Horse with the barrels further apart.
Still some commitment misses here. I will work on my body language and make sure we have eye contact before sending her.
Strike A Pose Part 1
Here we are with just the target. She really has value for sitting on a platform/mat so that helped me with her startline stay.
Strike A Pose Part 2: Concept Transfer For Serpentines
We added the jump, but the grass outdoors gave us the treat challenge again. I’m going to do our next session on mats on the deck and see if that helps make it easier for her to find her treats more easily & focus on the game.
Thank you!!!

ParticipantThank you! I will remember to keep looking at her on the parallel path! We tried again today (see below)
I have to show you that both dogs immediately knew those barrels were for them as soon as I took them out with this tiny video clip – hahaha! I had to save them from being dragged away.
Verbals Conversion ☺
I have a lot of questions about wrap verbals & 2 wrap verbals! I read the Verbals lesson and I see that we will have a verbal for frontside wraps and different verbals for backside wraps. I guess I’m trying to think this whole thing through here ☺.If you use directionals, do you also find that there is still a need for a turn towards me cue?
I only have 1 wrap verbal with my other Boston, Frankie. I don’t use directionals, only a turn towards me. I have never needed a turn away from me cue, but that may mean I have just always had to figure out how to get to a spot on course when I can have her turn towards me.
Currently, I use “wrap, wrap, wrap” and it means take the jump & turn 180 degrees back towards me. I use “dig, dig, dig” for a turn towards me cue (not a wrap but a 90 degree turn where there is an off-course option.)
I am very directionally challenged and left & right terrify me, but your description of being able to memorize the direction we are going to call when we walk the course makes sense, so I’m feeling brave enough to try it, especially if it makes things easier for Bazinga. I like the idea of using a sound for each direction.
Also, if I use directionals for wraps, I guess I should also use that concept for my softer (90 degree) turns, but with different words/sounds?
I’m thinking about adopting your noises for wraps. It is interesting that they are softer to cue to the collection. I am always extra loud with my wrap verbal to be sure she hears it & because the direction changeis so dramatic.
For my 90 degree turns I think I will do “check, check, check” (left) & “dig, dig, dig” (right). I’ll just need to remember that Frankie only has dig, dig, haha.
I’m taking an inventory of my current verbals and I know there are some that I use for Frankie that I want to change for Bazinga. One thing I need to phase out is I used an aleternating verbal for each of the weave poles for all 12 poles (weave, yes!, weave, yes). It is exhausting! I’d like to not do that again.
Games:
We tried the Concept Transfer: Parallel Path Commitment & I totally messed it up. Let me know what you think after you see the video. I used wings without thinking about it! I should have used a wingless jump. I also did not use a clicker. I can do another session with the clicker & a wingless. She is also jumping after the treat. Is that a problem if she is doing it on her own?
We did another session of the Rocking Horse game. I started with food and tried a toy & she was interested in it. Maybe that toy drive is coming back. She did still have a few hiccups on the left hand turns which is strange because I thought that was her dominant turn side.
Thanks for your help!!

ParticipantHi Tracy! Hope you had a wonderful holiday!!!
Thanks for the feedback!
We did the parallel path game with the prop again & I tried switching to “get it’ and marking earlier. She got better at driving forward after a bit and stopped looking at me. It is hard for her to find the cookies in the grass, but she was getting the idea! Do you think we can transition to the concept transfer game for parallel path (with the wings)? When we do get to that game, can I use a jump panel board laying flat on the ground if I don’t have a jump bump? I have a pool noodle, but I’m pretty sure that would get snatched up & run away with! LOL
We tried the Rocking Horse game! It was fun! I found barrels on amazon 🙂
You are so right about the eye contact/Hallmark moment. If I lost her, we had some trouble getting around the barrel. You can hear me talking to myself to figure out which way she was turning. I think she did a good job on the right hand turns. I probably pushed & went too fast on the left turns because she had some trouble there.I backed up & started the blind cross foundations game from week 1. My mechanics are terrible but Bazinga did a good job holding a “wait”. Should I try this with a helper to hold her? I feel like I need to work my way through these progressions to get to the combo games.
We have been working on the hand target & strike a pose #1. I don’t have video yet.
Thanks so much!!!

ParticipantHi Tracy!
Here are our games from yesterday.
Parallel Path (Baby) Rear crosses with the prop (baby) and Turn & Burn.I tried to start back with the baby level of the toy races, but she is not interested in playing with toys for the games – only food! I think she is SUPER hungry because she is on a steroid. She is all done with that on Monday, so maybe we’ll get toy play back. I’ll try to play right after a meal & see if that helps. I ended up using food for the Turn & Burn session & we did the baby level of parallel path to refresh her memory & I tried some rear crosses on her easy side (left). I’m going to try the alternate rear cross game & use your suggestions too.

ParticipantHi Tracy!
We are back! Bazinga is doing great! We are ready to catch back up. I think we need to finish up Week 3. How do you think we should proceed from here?We jumped back in with the new Alternate Rear Cross Game. I was surprised that we are having trouble with one direction. We only got 1 successful non-spin when she starts on my right & turns to her right. I’m so directionally challenged – does that mean she is left-pawed?
I am thinking that I just may be moving too slow on the cross. Here is our video.
Also – I LOVE your treat ledges in your hallway in your demo video ☺Kathy McClung
ParticipantOh! Flyball! That would be fun. This is the first dog I have had that I think has the right personality for that. I’ve never played it but there is a league about 3 hours from me in Jacksonville Fl.
We tried Turn & Burn!!!!
We tried the Prop Game – Parallel Path!
I mis-clicked when she jumped over the prop and she missed again a second time ( AND I mis-clicked again) so I asked for a couple of easy paw targets on the prop & we ended & played. I swear we are playing before & after – I just clipped them out of the videos 🙂

ParticipantFor the taller item will an oval-shaped tall laundry basket work or does it have to be perfectly round? I can buy a soft barrel from the hardware store if it needs to be completely round.
LOL. She cracks me up with the back-up too. I will try standing up and try the between-the-feet approach next.

ParticipantClass was SO FUN to watch last night! The pups were brilliant!
Also, I was listening to a podcast and they had an episode on the Resilience Rainbow & you got several shout outs 🙂Episode 55: The Resilience Rainbow with Bobbie Bhambree-Wirkmaa
I see what you are saying about clicking for 2 feet on the plank when she is happy to put 4 feet up. Thanks for the feedback on that!
We did a session of the Wing Wrap game and introduced the advanced objects and I also added me standing to catch up. I may have lumped a little, but she didn’t get confused so I kept going. I’ll do another session to allow her to absorb the changes before I try the Week 3 games.
Here is our current back-up. I haven’t been working on it so maybe we are a little rusty!

ParticipantHi Tracy! Thank you!
>> I think what happened there was that she didn’t realize she was doing toy races LOL!YES! You are so right! DUH! I will try again without cookies & see if I can beat this speedie girlie to the toy!
Any Toy game – I’ll try offering boring food in the next session. Is that to get her more focused on toys & less on food?
I will keep the sessions short. I had not picked up on her getting hot during the sessions so thank you for mentioning it.Here is our Plankrobotics try. She has been on the yellow & green platforms before, but not shaped like a plank. I also added a new plank made of wood in the yard to give her a new experience.
Kathy McClung
ParticipantHi Tracy – thank you for the great feedback! I did do another walk the next day at the trial and she enjoyed it!
I do feel very behind on the games! I did 2 different sessions today. Toy Races & Any Toy Any Time.
I think I have what I need to do the plankrobatics so that will be next. The equipment can use improvement, so I’ll work on that. I don’t have a wobble board…I have a soft instability platform, can I use that for the Goat Tricks Moving & Noise baby level?
Also, I need to watch your video again, but Bazinga has a back -up behavior, can I use the behavior she already has for this, or should I start from the beginning?
Here are the videos 🙂
Toy Races (Session 1)
I lost her attention to the treats. I also think I let her get too much of the toy on the turns where I won. I may have become her servant. I went back to an easy rep on the last rep to get her amped back up & end on a positive note.
Any Toy Any Time (Session 2)
She loved this! No distractions <grin>

ParticipantHi Tracy!
We are at an agility trial so i have been trying to incorporate some sessions with Bazinga. We tried the Resilience Conditioning Walk. I never realized how much I blab & talk to my dogs on a walk. It was very interesting for me to just shut my mouth & be quiet.
We tried to play Any Toy, Any time at the trial. I was surprised the surroundings seemed distracting for her. A good lesson for me. It was a good barometer since she always seems to take everything in stride and I assume she is not affected. I think I needed to let her acclimate to the spot we chose to play before trying the game. She had not been up in the bleachers yet.
Thanks! We’ll be here one more day & then we can get back to the new games.

ParticipantHi Tracy! We had fun today!
I have a question about the Goat Games. Should the object be something that they can get on completely?I so totally had to leave the beginning of our Prop Game session for you to see. Bazinga bounced right over to the towel and then was SO EXCITED to see the “object” our dustbin – haha!
We did a front send & tried some side sends. I also tried using a toy as the reinforcer. She really got amped (you’ll see) but I’ll keep working with it. I think she’ll get it.Wing Wrap Foundations
I added the upright after we started with the beginner level. If I “sneak” the treat in the bowl and she gets confused, she offers me her Back Up behavior. I taught her to back up when she was really little and it was the first thing I ever trained that was shaped and I waited for her to offer the behavior & went from there. Now, if I confuse her, she is like “Do you want this, then!?” & backs up.
Driving Forward
I already submitted 2 of this game, not sure if it is ok to submit another. You can skip this if not. I worked on running with her and she didn’t seem to mind at all & she is so much more comfortable with me holding her collar! Life skill – yay! Thanks for watching!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!-

ParticipantHi Tracy! Here is what we have been working on!
Prop Game 1: Building Sends And Commitment session 1
Not sure how I feel about this session. The clicker helps clarify the “yes” moment when she touches the prop, but it seems to amp her up & she was pretty excited about the clicker. I tried to do some without the clicker too to see if that was better for her. It seems to me that she was not 100% clear on touching the prop with my movement.
Decel game – session 1
This one was fun. I used a towel to throw the cookie onto so it wouldn’t get lost in the grass but there were still long delays between cookie procurement & her being ready to run to me.
We did the first session of the Wing Wrap game. I faked her out with the stealthy treat drop! I was surprised she didn’t dive right into the bowl looking for the treat. The whiny-grumble is not from Bazinga. It is coming from Frankie who is outside the door.
Thanks for watching!
