ParticipantHI, Tracy,
Teeter and Weaves sound good, but I have a couple of questions. I’m assuming you’ll use 2x2s? I’ve ordered a new set of 2x2s – my old ones were 18 inchers. Not sure when they’ll get here, but I would expect by late February I should be set. Will the seesaw portion pick up where this class stops, or will it go back a few steps?
Thanks! ~KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy. Be sure to let us know how Hot Sauce is doing. Wishing you both the very best! ~Kristie & Keiko

ParticipantYay! Just a dusting of snow that left quickly. š So, here’s some work on the Tunnel Entries and Exits. We did the first sets of exercises, with lefts, rights and Go ons first. I’m sure you’ll notice that after telling her “left-left-left”, I praised her with a “right here!” comment….After a break, we worked on the rear crosses. I’ve divided them into 2 videos – hope that makes it easier for feedback. š ~Kristie

ParticipantFinally, we did the rest of the serpentine exercises. I did some from both sides, and Keiko seemed to have a good time. She kept going over to the seesaw and asking to do it. So, I tossed it in for the last 2 runs. š I tried to keep my dog side arm back and connected while moving forward. Comments and suggestions welcome, as always. (and we hope to do the other exercises as soon as the weather cooperates again.)
Take care, Tracy. šKristie Foss
ParticipantThen we worked on the Serpentine pieces. First, we did the basic “review” sets. I didn’t spend a lot of time on these since she picked up on them right away. Here we go:

ParticipantGood afternoon!
Our snow melted and the ground got soggy. Ugh. Now it’s frozen again, and useable! Of course, the weather folks are “promising” us somewhere between 1- 4 inches tonight – and maybe ice? Who knows. At any rate, in anticipation, Keiko and I did some exercises spread out over the day with lots of play and breaks in between. This first piece is our Seesaw with Target and Bang. We used the 2o2o position for the bang game. She did do a lot of looking at me, so I changed what I was doing and put the first treat on the target so she was focused forward. I did try to get the next rewards out quickly, but the Aussie in her felt I was not quite quick enough. I think the forward focus will be helped when I start moving around in front of the target, treating as I move. At the end of this video, I did have her do the whole seesaw a couple of times. She had gone all the way up the stationary seesaw board a few times when we were working on just the bang, and I wanted to end with the information that the seesaw does still tip. She had no problem switching gears. š Here’s the video:Kristie Foss
ParticipantHI, Tracy,
I’ve got a question regarding the running contact exercise. I do not plan on having any running contacts with Keiko. She’s too fast and I’m aging. The mat exercise you have for this week #4 looks like it’s something we could do for fun and brain work, and that it won’t interfer with any other training we’re doing. What’s your opinion? Thanks! ~KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHI, Tracy,
Here’s our work on the contact 2o2o position. I’ve been using a target stick with Keiko lately, so it was good to get out a flat target object, too. Forgot to grab a plastic lid when we were upstairs, so I used a small box lid. Good variety practice.:)
You’ll see that she does some thinking and tries to persuade me to just give her a treat a couple of times. Ah these Aussies – ever hopeful they can just manipulate the situation! I did work toward only rewarding when her eyes and nose moved away from me and to the target. I also did one little set without the target, just rewarding for the position and correct behavior. She’s too much!Kristie Foss
ParticipantGood Morning, Tracy, May 2021 e a positive year.
I wanted to check on something about the PIT course. We had week 1 with live videos, and then again week 2 with more live lessons. Then you gave us week 3 off as a break – thanks for the breather and the chance to do a bit of catch-up. Now I see you have started. Spot for week 5. What happened to week 4? Did I miss something? Just trying to be sure Iām on the right page. Thanks! Kristie

ParticipantHello, Again!
Last but not least, here is the Walking Sit exercise. I couldn’t really get up much of a run indoors, but she did well when I was walking and doing a little faster pace trot. šAny suggestions? I think we can certainly work on this more, especially when we get a chance to try it outdoors. Thanks! ~Kristie

ParticipantOkay, now on to the seesaw exercise from class. This video is a bit long, but I wanted to show you my “thinker” at work. There were actually a few times when she turned her head to check her back legs – I think I left one of those in. It was so funny – “Yup! Back feet in position, check!” The tippy boards are the ones she used when she was younger, and, since the real seesaw was not useable, I figured these would do fine. So, a quick refresher on the boards, then we got right to the 2o2o position section. She seemed to feel that she needed to turn around on the board rather than backing up. She’s not a big backer-upper. Perhaps if I’d been farther away – but even when I sat on the sofa, she still chose to turn around on the board. Here’s the Teeter Foundation video:

ParticipantHi, Tracy,
I hope your holiday was a good one. It’s been a while since we’ve “dropped by” here – but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been giving a few things a try. š And yes, your description of things to try in your last post o Dec. 24 does make sense. After this next rain we’re supposed to have, the ground will hopefully re-freeze so we can cavort without slipping and sliding. š
So first, for your ‘viewing pleasure’ we have the Snow Seesaw! Obviously when we had 10 inches, we didn’t use it. But, as the snow melted some, Keiko started going over the seesaw – so I felt I should be there to support her since we still had snow everywhere. Here’s my silly girl’s snow-saw:Kristie Foss
ParticipantThis is the 3 wing set up you suggested I try again with a blind, skipping the middle wing, and wrapping the end. There was a little slip on the first one, and Keiko wanted to go into the tunnel rather than do the last wrap. Again, I think things would have been different if I had had firmer footing, but it was all good practice and nice to be working together. Thanks! ~Kristie https://youtu.be/p_ycOiQhdO4

ParticipantHello! As you had suggested, I did the tunnel to 2 wings without making her wrap the wings twice. It was fun to think of scooting her along as I moved forward after her. I chose to do 2 of these in a row in opposite directions so she practiced both sides. Should probably have done one or two more with blinds….;)

ParticipantHi! Here is the Straight Lines 4-ways exercise. I really wish the ground was clear – this would be so much fun for both of us with the ability to do more running. I would also place the jumps farther apart on good footing, to get up some steam, and make the focus on handling more difficult. However, we enjoyed this and I think she did well. https://youtu.be/er656YlUqGk
