ParticipantHI, Tracy,
It’s “live” day, so Keiko and I went out to do some of the online exercises before the sessions started. I figured you’d be doing some extra stuff with the live group – and I was right! So glad I was able to watch.
Okay, so here is our take on the One Step Send and Exit Connections pieces. There are several sections because I did each part of the exercise separately as you did. Then we put it all together. Keiko knocked a couple of bars, which is unusual for her. She seemed to be checking me out one time, and the other time I think she was getting tired. Anything you think I should re-visit and concentrate on? Thanks! ~Kristie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOcx7KuRt_YKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy, I’m going to hold you to that promise! We have learned so much in the blinds classes, but we are definitely ready for more variety. ๐
Here’s our first video from week one – the Lazy Game. The video is much longer than I usually post. I guess I thought you wanted to see our meandering walk, as well as pushing the jump back and staying closer to the front jumps. All those pieces are here – I did leave out a couple of clips so you didn’t fall asleep watching. ๐ This was actually the perfect exercise given the fact that the ground is a bit smooshy, and it was starting to rain. Tomorrow’s supposed to be lovely, so we’re looking forward to trying another exercise then. Take care, ~Kristie and Keiko

ParticipantHI, Tracy,
Just wanted to thank you again for a great class. It was perfect for Keiko and me. I’ve appreciated all your feedback and your great eye for making improvements in and fine-tuning handling. Looking forward to the Blinds “quick class” and the longer “putting it together.” Planning on good weather so we can work outside. ๐
Take care,
~Kristie

ParticipantHI, Tracy,
Thanks for the link. I do like seeing what and how the “live” classes do, and your tips to them can be helpful for Keiko and me, too. ๐
I was wondering when this class ends? I know we have access to it “forever” but was wondering when the official end of student postings is, since I realize you’ve finished posting new exercises.
I know you’re being challenged to come up with stuff for us for over the winter, but you’re creative, & I know you’ll have good options for us. Perhaps a combo of short and longer sets so people have choices if they can’t do it all? We’ll be working on some of the things from this current course, and looking forward to our next class with you. Hope it starts soon! ~Kristie & KeikoKristie Foss
ParticipantHI, Tracy,
Yes, Keiko is a dog who is definite about her what she likes. ๐Question – I wasn’t able to make the live lesson Thursday. Will you be making a link to a recording, or wasn’t that one set up that way? Thanks,
~KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy! Huge thanks for dissecting what was going on with my handling in the Starfish game. I know how important connection is, and of course seeing my hand and arm pointing back to her and then moving with her toward the line is the perfect way to go. I SHOULD have been doing it consistently throughout this exercise. I don’t think I planned the sets well, and should have spent more time walking what I planned to do. Sorry, baby girl. ~Kristie

ParticipantHi, Tracy,
Thanks for the feedback on the backside exercise. I really like your new suggestions, and we’ll be giving those a try after the rain. ๐~Kristie

ParticipantHello! After all the thinking she did for the backside exercise, we decided to do some more starfish fun. I couldnโt recall exactly what you suggested, so we just did more โstuff.โ I notice how when she is sure whatโs coming next, like the tunnel, her pace picks up. When Iโm tossing in extra turns or wraps, she trots so she can switch gears if need be. Smart little girl. ๐

ParticipantHi, Tracy,
I watched your video again, and re-read your comments to me regarding the backside exercise. Then we gave it another try. I was much happier with how things went, and I think my handling was clearer to Keiko. Then we did some of the German turn stuff. That seemed to make perf3xf sense to her. Wonder what sheโll think of the โrealโ thing! ๐
Thanks! KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy,
Accordion: Yes, I agree – looks like her new “Sweet spot” for the grid is indeed 6 feet. I also agree that I need to set the reward out farther to get the bounces and the stride we’re looking for. Thanks for the reminder – it’s got to be out farther when there is more distance between the jumps.
Lateral: “EARLIER” is a word I’m going to have to make into a mantra. ๐ Cue earlier, leave earlier – and leave her name out of things unless there is a reason to pull her attention to me.
Starfish: Thanks for the feedback and ideas about other things to do. ๐ ~KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy,
Here is our first take on the Starfish setup. Keiko has done a great job today, so when we did this set, I didn’t do too many. Any suggestions for improvement or other handling we should try? I know we’ll be going back out tomorrow. The weather has been outstanding – high 70s, low humidity, lovely, warm sun! Doesn’t get any better than this for outdoor agility. ๐
Thanks, as always. ~Kristie
PS: Have you posted the next class? I don’t want to miss it!

ParticipantHello!
Here we are, working on the lateral sends with 2 jumps. I did a variety of things, as you will see, which is why I call it a “lateral send potpourri.” ๐ Keiko is such as good girl! Her wait is usually lovely, and she seemed interested each time in seeing what weird thing I’d ask her to do once she took the first jump. Any suggestions or other ideas for us? Thanks, KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantHi, Tracy,
Sunny, dry, and 75. Canโt ask for much better weather here, especially in November! So we had to do some sets today!
Here is Keiko giving 6โ distances a try. Yesterday we did 5 feet, and you suggested we try 6- so here โtis! ๐. KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantReply to accordion jump grid:
Hello! To answer your distance question, the jumps in the basic grid are 5 feet apart. When we played around with this before, 5โ seemed to be her sweet spot. Iโll try our next shot at this with starting grid jumps 6โ apart and see what happens. Sheโs fun to work, and is usually amenable to experimentation. ๐. Take care, KristieKristie Foss
ParticipantReply to Lateral comments:
Okay, weโll turn this up a notch and give a second jump a try. I think sheโll do fine, but always good to give it a go. Also, I like the variety of handling techniques I can toss in here, too. Looking forward to seeing how we do. -
