ParticipantHi guys, I am following this post as Wish is very similar. If you email the video of the BAT, I would like to see it as well.
Thanks,
JulieJulie Miller
ParticipantThanks Bobbie. That does make sense. Should I try fading it out in class, now or wait until I can try the exercises in class? I want her to run happy and get rewarded often. I don’t want her to regress.
I have a seminar coming up in Feb so I will try the exercises there.
I am going to try and enter some AKC events, but only T2B and Fast, so I can use a toy. I’ll keep trying the exercises outside of the trial building.
ThanksJulie Miller
ParticipantOh, on another note, she would have qualified in several of the runs if I didn’t use a toy, however she didn’t run as fast and confident as she can or does at class. 🙁

ParticipantThanks!

ParticipantI took Wish to the UKI trial, on Saturday. Unfortunately, the building was very small so no crating and the weather was bad: raining and cold. I crated her in the car. I was unable to try the snuffle mat or relaxation mat near the car as it was too wet and rainy and cold. She was very nervous when we arrived, but walked outside nicely and seemed to calm down after a long walk around the grounds. I entered Jumpers 1&2, Speedstakes 1&2 and agility. I ran her “not for competition” for all runs. Her first run she ran pretty well with the toy. As the day progressed, she seemed to run faster and more confident. The last run, was agility. I ran with the toy in my pocket the entire time and only pulled it out after the end jump. She ran great! Slower than at class, but happy and she seemed confident. I led out at the start jump and she looked around behind her, ears down and scared. Once I called her, she came and never looked back. She’s still a work in progress, but I felt really good about her running.
I have a feeling that her toy is her pacifier. I am going to need help removing it, a little at a time. She seems to feel confident if there is something to focus on: sheep, disc or toy.
Do you have any suggestions on how to remove the toy a little at time?
Thanks.Julie Miller
ParticipantHi Bobbi, I know you said that you posted Pattern Games in the forum already, but I don’t see it?
Can you please tell me where to look. I checked pages 1-5.
Thanks,

ParticipantI used the snuffle mat for the first time, two days ago. She is standing up, rooting through the fabric and seems very interested. I wouldn’t say she is relaxed, but she is happy. 🙂
Shall I take both the mat and snuffle mat to the UKI trial, this Saturday and use them in the car? Thanks,
JulieJulie Miller
ParticipantI have a UKI trial on Saturday and I will try doing the relaxation exercises out by the car.
Should I use the mat or the snuggle mat, while in the car?
Thanks!!Julie Miller
ParticipantDo I need the audio files? If they are just relaxing music, can I play some other relaxing music on my phone while we do the relaxation exercises?
I took Wish to an ASCA one ring, one day, trial. She was stressed going into the building, so I crated her in the car. I took her in for two runs of standard, with a toy. Once we were in the ring, with the toy, she was focused and ran fast and confident!!
She stressed each time coming into the building and getting to the ring. Ears down, tail tucked, but once in the ring, with toy in hand, she ran great!
I tried running jumpers 1 without the toy. She was a little stress at the start jump and I needed to lead out a little to make it to #2 for a front cross. She left the start early and went around the start jump. 🙁 But then ran pretty good all the way through to the last jump and just went around it. My fault. Handling issue. I was late. She didn’t visit the judge or ring crew!! 🙂
The last run was jumpers 2 and I used the toy, again. She ran fast and confident!!
I was happy with all of her runs, but still have a long way to go. I did use the mat for relaxation, in the car. My snuffle mat wasn’t finished, but is, now. I am entered in a UKI trail, this Saturday and will be running all classes with a toy.
I hope she does as well as she did, Saturday. This is a new venue, so I’m sure she will stress, but I will crate in the car.

ParticipantDesktop but I don’t think I have an app that will play audio files?
Julie Miller
ParticipantYes that makes sense but when do you use them? One versus the other?

ParticipantThank you. I am going to make a snuffle mat. I bought all of the material today.
Wish is enjoying and relaxing on the mat. She has shifted to one hip. 🙂Julie Miller
ParticipantI don’t have an ipad. What format are these videos in? I’m not sure how to download and play them?
Thanks,
JulieJulie Miller
ParticipantI wasn’t able to get her to the trial this weekend, due to family things and weather. I have been working the relaxation mat and she lays down immediately. The first couple of days she laid like a sphinx, but last night she rolled to one hip. She seems to enjoy it a LOT.
I am going to try a snuffle mat, as soon as I can find one to buy.
Again, what is the different between the mat and the snuffle mat? I know they have to search for treats in the snuffle mat and I guess it just takes longer, hence more relaxation? Thanks,

ParticipantI just want to make sure I’m following this correctly. We are to use a mat for relaxation, at least once a day, to sprinkle dehydrated treats and then we are to use the snuffle mat once a day to reduce arousal and anxiety.
I will try to do these two exercises, at home, but am having a hard time trying to spread them out as I work full time. Are there times of day that might work best for each of these exercises? Like do the calming prior to bed time and use the snuffle mat after play time, after work? When will we know we are ready to “take the show on the road” with either of these exercises? I can see taking the mat to class for relaxation in her crate, before her run, but when and where is the best time and place for the snuffle mat?
Thanks,
