ParticipantHello!
A short video because I stopped banana-ing and he was successful!Thank you SO much for all your help in this class! I feel like he (and our working relationship) has improved so so much from that first session with so much frustration! And he has some cool new agility skills!
We will see you in max pup 3!
Thanks again!!

ParticipantHello!
We did a short session before it starts raining again! I tried with a rolled mat for the line and he did great off my right and got it first try but struggled off my left (which is also the side he struggled with the dw platform today – not sure if that’s related). He also seems to hamster wheel a little when he’s wrong. Like he does it wrong once and then just keeps doing it wrong until I make a dramatic change.Thank you!!

ParticipantHi!
Yes I’m on an iPhone!Still struggling a little with the backsides. I worked Lad first and I think that broke Zest’s brain a little. I tried to parallel his line and really push him to the back and he could (only) get it when I did that, but in reality I know I will likely not always (mostly never) be there to do that so I’d like it to be a little more independent so I don’t have to be there to shape his line.
Thanks!

ParticipantWe did some experimenting today lol. Tried food + toy and got no barking. He got better about looking for the food when I used the right word. Added some motion and tried moving the toy to the takeoff side.
Thank you!

ParticipantPerfect – thank you so much!!
Yes the barking seems to only be for food. He seems to get frustrated working for food vs the toy. Not sure why?
Another issue we have is when there’s a toy on the ground he seems to always have at least half his brain on the toy and is just guessing until I release him to it. I’m not really sure how to get him to think in those situations. We did the serps and fronts today.
Thanks!

ParticipantLooks like it’s about an hour and a half from me so not too far! That would be amazing!!! Thank you!!!
Here’s our next attempt from before it started raining today. He does really struggle with thinking when there’s a toy on the ground. He did eventually start taking the jump but it is hard for him so I did a few with the toy in my hand!
Thanks!

I’ll try adding speed and a toy today – thanks!

ParticipantThank you!
We had to switch games because we are back in Virginia and I don’t have a tunnel lol. So we did the sends and Serps! I don’t know why I was getting the barking? Except maybe he didn’t know the “around” word very well. My left and right are wrap/tight turn words so I didn’t want to use them in this context.
Thanks!

ParticipantHello!
We tried both games again today – adding motion to smiley face seemed to go well! And wing wraps were an improvement over yesterday. He still struggled a little to the left but that is definitely his weaker direction. He is also able to fail without melting down which is a huge improvement!Thank you!

ParticipantThank you so much!!! And thank you for your help wrangling the feral one lol. He’s a sweet dog and does try really hard.
We did smiley face and wing proofing today. The smiley face went well but wing proofing in front of the tunnel was a bit of a struggle.
Thanks!

ParticipantHello!
I added motion to the wind in your hair game and tried the smiley face one today! Not sure why he wrapped the wing to the left a couple times when I told him right?
Thanks!

ParticipantThank you!!
Okay we tried at 12! He missed a couple fronts turning left but watching the video my handling looks like I wanted a rear so he was a good boy! Thanks!

ParticipantThank you!!
We tried just the fronts and backside wraps again and he was a good boy!
Thanks!

ParticipantWe tried them all today! I had one truly terrible throw – poor Zesty lol but he tried hard and got the rear! I don’t think he has great understanding of the backside though – and now I realize I was supposed to keep going instead of fronting again. Sorry about that!
Thank you!
