    Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Here are a few videos we got after a crazy off leash romp around!!! I took advantage of it being quiet here before all the other RVers come into town. Artie is in the RV and you can hear when her pupcicle was finished! LOL!

    Pre-game foot target:

    Focus Forward take 1:

BTW, I have the broken retriever, LOL! He often drops the toy on the way back….I added in motion to entice him but definitely need to work on this. He doesn’t seem to do it when field training.

    Two bowl game:

We’ve been doing movement puzzles a little bit so this is familiar to him….but it was a very different environment for Ringo!!!

Tracy, thanks your recommendations sound terrific….I was hitting a mind block on this with Maewyn! I will spend time this weekend working on that with her.

Nelci and I got a chance to start working on Package 4 Standard courses. One file with my walk thrus and runs. Artie had a difficult time on course 2 running after the aframe so we worked on that a little with Nelci dropping the toy. I am hoping to get out there on Saturday and was planning on bringing the manners minder to try to get more rewards out there for running the lines. In course 1 Artie was questioning the turn after the aframe….so I still have work to do on this!

Maewyn got a chance to run course 1 once…I didn’t want to burn out Artie but wanted a do over! 😉

    Here’s the video:

    Thanks again!!!

Thanks Tracy!!! Still so much to work on!!! Always learning!!!!

Here is the video of our bloopers….Maewyn is usually 50/50 on dog walk stop in a trial….I was thinking she had slowed down, but looking at this I don’t think so…Oops!!! I was too late to grab the course map. The trial secretary had already taken it down. But it was what you were thinking the typical AKC set them up to be looking at the wrong end and need them to come towards you and then lead change away to go in the correct end. I had thought about running the far side of the dog walk so I could push her to the correct side….but I really would like to improve this skill with her. It is hard to see it because it is in the furthest corner away from the camera.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Tracy-

I hope you enjoyed your day off from AU….and did something fun!!!!

Nelci & I did our re-runs after feedback. Of course it was ridiculously hot at 7am….so we did minimal redo….but I focused on the key areas of feedback for where my plan was off and those seemed to go better. I am pretty sure I disconnected to cause the bar on 3.1, I think it was 10. I went radio silent at the jump before the weaves. I wanted to keep her attention and be sure to be showing motion in the right direction….but then I was wondering what verbal I should be using there….is it a right? I don’t think it is a check(my send and wrap back to me) because I would be cueing from the other side of the jump. On German turns, I tend to just say push and let my motion/handling cover the rest….but should I have a verbal for this exit line?

I need to do the ESC for threadle wrap….I don’t think either of them really have that yet. So I changed my plan on Standard 3.2 for after the dog walk. I put in another blind and sort of a v-set to cue the wrap. I got it during the practice but she took the bar when in the full sequence. I think at this time, I would probably go with that approach until I have more confidence on the threadle wrap.

We built the standard for package 4. I am looking forward to running that it looks like a ton of fun!!!

Last weekend I had an issue with dog walk to tunnel(non-obvious, lead change away from me) side. Being ahead and looking back, my chest is pointing at the wrong end of the tunnel. Artie has a pretty good understanding of my tunnel bypass/threadle cue but Maewyn and I seem to fail on this particular set up frequently. I am working in the backyard on tunnels and trying to improve her understanding of my “close” cue. I was going to add in the aframe and then cue it on that….but I really feel that when they are stopped, it feels different versus when they are running. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Thanks again for all your help!!!

Great feedback!!! Hopefully I remembered some of it when I went back out!!! I know the one I keep forgetting when running is to leave my arm back on sends to tunnels to avoid closing myself off….I have to work on that one!

I did the running the walkthrough for both standard courses…and although it is one of my least favorite things to do….I have to admit, I was WAY more prepared for these runs and it showed!!! I really need to stop being lazy and put in my effort for the team!!!

Here is standard course 1: https://youtu.be/WlPU8hUU2e0

Here is standard course 2: https://youtu.be/4h-xPBbNfn0

Nelci had to go, so I set up the tripod and ran Maewyn. She also benefitted from me know where we were supposed to go – go figure! LOL! I only included the second course and it is tough to see at the distance….but she did great…just a bobble on the line after the dog walk. But it was fun!!

I probably won’t get a chance to work on the ESCs until next week. I had taken July off from trialing and have entered this weekend….so it should be fun!

Thanks for all your feedback!!! I really feel like it is helping us a ton!!!

Thanks Tracy! I need to find more time to do the ESCs before trying to run the courses!!! Sorry, I feel like I am making the same mistakes! Hoping for a weather break to be able to get some more training time in!

I alternated dogs to avoid the heat exhaustion. This is a longer video but you can probably fast forward thru two sections. Artie had a meltdown on Course 2 jump 1….and I had a meltdown with Maewyn on jump 5. So there are many attempts on those two sections….but you will probably see something or have a way for me to break it down to train the skill better!!! Other than those sections….and the fact that I haven’t done the training on the thread wrap yet….enough excuses! Looking forward to your feedback and hoping to get out for the standard course Friday morning. Thanks!

    Hi Tracy!

I will work on the Gravatar thing this weekend. Thanks for the info!

Here is the first JWW course. I keep failing on that ‘first time best time’ thing!!!! I could see Artie was slowing down (probably because of all my errors!) so I gave Maewyn a shot.

Here’s the second one….I felt like I got closer on this one! Spoiler alert, I actually ran it clean at the end!!!

Thanks for all your terrific input!!! Artie says she like having a hint where she is going…you and Nelci keep telling me I can be even earlier….I am trying! Thanks for your patience!

Hi Tracy! Hope you had a great weekend!

Quick question before I get into video….how does one change the picture for my profile? It is using a picture of my nephew but I would like to switch to something more relevant to pups. thanks!

Here is my redo of standard course from package 2. I think we are moving in the right direction but I am still slow in getting my verbals out. Artie really seems to be asking a lot of questions on the aframe. I was thinking about setting up two tunnels with an aframe in the middle in my back yard to try to get her comfortable with just running straight and not looking back….plus I thought this might help my tunnels a bit. What do you think?

Here is the redo video from this morning. Thanks again for all your help!!!

    Hi Tracy-

Nelci and I met at 6:30 am to catch up on a little of our homework. Sorry we are so far behind…but weather has not been our friend!

We focused on the Standard course from Package 2. I wanted to not be an asshole but I still might have been a little (not telling Maewyn which way to go and being confused on right vs. left) but I think I was better! 😉

When running a course, I have to fight the urge to just run it like a trial….but with the heat and Artie’s sensitivity, I opted to reward more frequently. BTW, Artie took an offcourse jump!!!! I am sure I was late, but I still was smiling inside to see her drive out to it!!! LOL!

Thanks again and have a great day!!!

Thanks Tracy for the great feedback!!!

Too bad I can’t seem to keep it in my head when I go for the reruns!!! I was getting frustrated with us not getting it right….but in watching the videos, I wasn’t being fair to Artie. I had slight pulls off the tunnels or I was accelerating the timing so much that I think she probably thought I was just screwed up and making a last second change….at least that is what it looked like to me.

I also screwed up my videos as I was trying to edit out wasted time and I lost the beginning of the courses…but I know you have watched these enough to know where we were on the courses! LOL!

Hopefully I will get better at this editing….now I am editing on my phone (the only devise that can run iMovie.) I am trying!

Thanks for all you terrific input & feedback!!!

Thanks Tracy!!! I love the idea of not connecting so significantly…there are definitely times when I think my staring at Artie slows her down!!

OK….you asked for it….here was our tunnel chaos from the jumpers course. Not quite sure what happened….but it got uglier and uglier! Maybe one of the frogs in the tunnel scared her! LOL!

    Sorry but still video challenged!

Here are our efforts on the second standard course. She seemed to have a bit more speed and some really nice independence on the in-in after the aframe and the backside after the dw. I probably should have let her see the wing on the weaves before putting it in sequence….

Here is the second half of attempt 1 after revisiting the weaves. At the end, I didn’t think I could get there for the blind before 19….but I was too far ahead of her and she questioned the rear.

Here is our second attempt…changed the beginning. Thrilled the in-in and the push were not a fluke! LOL!

I had wanted to try the Live courses….but I think Artie was losing steam and so I stopped after a couple tries. It might have just felt that way because there wasn’t very far to go.

Thanks Tracy!!! Hope you are enjoying the west coast!!!

Love the feedback!!! I need to edit the tunnel chaos….I don’t want you to have to dredge thru it all!!! Here is my last attempt on it. I wasn’t trusting the tunnels…so I didn’t get the BC around 9….but I did get it earlier on our attempts.

Plus we got a chance to do one of the standard courses….here is my first attempt. We had spent a lot of time prepping the ground etc. So we will do the second course on Saturday.

    Thanks!

Thanks Tracy!!! Great feedback (as you always do!!!) I had some challenges trying edit the videos….I haven’t done an online class for a while and it seems like so many apps are outdated, incompatible etc. Sorry for the delay.

I did a few rewards after the tunnel. I think she was driving out a bit more but not sure I got it in the courses…here is an example.

It was a warm day…and I think my brain was overheated….I felt like I forgot to use my verbals frequently!!! Here is the Jumpers 1 course with Artie.

I felt like Artie was slowing down so I tried to run this course with Maewyn. Big difference on her ability to drive lines. I don’t really plan on submitting videos for Maewyn but since Artie was so tired….I thought this might be ok.

Here is the second Jumpers course with Artie. She really was exhausted by this time! I was too! LOL!
