ParticipantHi! Happy new year!
Every few days we play the drive to the toy BRING IT BACK game. If you recall, Lizzie wants to have her party without me. Here is an update. We don’t seem to make progress. Other times when I need to leave a toy out (tunnel exits, jump grids) I have the toy on the long line & I can reel her in. Any other suggestions?
we are taking a step back from the barrel to have more send. And we moved on to rocking horse horse game. She is pretty chill about it.
Here is our get in a box & mat work.
Thank you!Linda Cummings
ParticipantHi! I hope you are staying warm. It was so cold here for so long!
This was a fun game. I kept getting in her way.
This is our 3rd go on the turn & burn game. We were slow in making progress and her attention span is so short! But after the other game above & running to the toy, she got more interested in playing. Her attention span was a bit longer.
Tell me what you think! No rush though.

ParticipantHi there.
We played that sandwich game again as you suggested. It was fun & motivating for her.I knew we would struggle with the turn away game when I saw it on the zoom. It’s weird how it it so much worse on one side than the other. I can quickly go down a rabbit hole as to why… She has not had the socialization that I have done with the other dogs because I am lazy. Most of our on leash walks are when we are headed to the sheep pen & it is always an exercise in control for her.
We do walk to warm up for our other training. Even with a lot of treats she is timid by my side (contrast to our heading to the sheep when she is NOT timid).
Please help!!

ParticipantHi!
Fun stuff in the zoom class last night. Looking forward to trying the games. Here is Lizzie’s sandwich work. Backing up continues to grow. Still seeing some fall out on the send to prop due to my clicking/ talking, but continue to make it easy with a cookie toss.
Thank you!

ParticipantThank you! All makes total sense. We will do a couple of sessions, then video again.

ParticipantHi! Lizzie & I have been doing a few of the things.
She is going around our cone pretty well for wrap basics.
And backing up. She seems to understanding back feet.
On our parallel path – we are having a hard time with her watching me. Any suggestions there?
I just could not engage my brain for the send to prop & move away. I clicked as I was moving instead of when she got to the prop. I will work just building value to go to it for a couple of sessions & try again & video.
Thank you!

ParticipantSounds good. I was uncertain about some of those touches since turning back her body blocks her feet. This is a fun one & getting the happy dance first is at least part of getting some drive which she does not have much of at this point. I will hold off on some things I was doing (RDW, channel weaves). We will do the touch game with the toy, too.
We did another thing. She seriously wants to run off with the toy. So here I have played with & tossed a lower value toy & ran away with the higher value. I might be able to wait a couple of seconds to see if she brings toy 1 before I get out toy 2.

ParticipantHello!
I got a larger foot target & stopped most of the verb cheerleading (!) & we did a bit better getting a treat out before she looked but it’s hard to see what she is doing. We had started some ‘go to mat & get some rear feet’ so there is some confusion there. But even with that I will be in a much better position for running contacts if she is NOT turning back to me.
And we have to drive forward to toy.

ParticipantVery nice!

ParticipantYes! Makes sense. Thank you. I set that up last night (the rear cross) & he read it perfectly. I did not have a chance to get back to the zoom lesson. I will have time to work on it soon since our show season in Montana is about over.
See you next month in SLC!

ParticipantHi!
I plan to work through the sequences from the last zoom class and hope to post something from that before we close which I think you said was the 15th. I will tackle the last package with the full courses on my own!
I wonder if you would look at this trial video, though. Hoke & I had a great trial. I was very pleased. This is the type of thing we are getting stuck on now. I thought I would handle 3, 4, 5 6 with him on my left. What else could I have done? I could leave him on the DW & get on the landing side of 3 for a blind cross & picked him up on my right, but that is a long way to go to get around the wing on 4. As far as just decel for turns, I can see I was late on it (esp when I sent him back to the tunnel to the turn 7 to 8 😉 ) But it seems like decel would just have me standing there through or have me way behind. Thoughts?
Heck. Can’t figure out how to get a piece of the course map on here. I thought screen shot would work.Linda Cummings
ParticipantSo this morning I tried that opening with the blind. So easy!! And, look, on the right line to easily cue 4. But proof I am still not watching my dog. I didn’t know he had that slip until I saw the video.
Thank you!

ParticipantHi! I did the rest of the Std course before I got you feedback so here 3-4 are the same throw back. We are struggling with our AF which is not proved as well as I would like. We worked it a bit here. So I just speed up the video. I have already taken down the excitement level & got four nice AFs using the TT.
So thrilled he had no trouble with layering the DW. As you can see, I set the jump after the teeter so it was easier. I did not do the threadle wrap after the tunnel since we have not trained that we’ll enough to actually use.
First the walk
