Hello! We did that pop out on the first Std course. I walked a second time to improve the connection on that back side slice. I also realized I didn’t have to be as close to #3 as I was. These bars are at 12”. We still took a few. This grass is hard to run in. I can’t remember what your notes said, but I like that rear cross to one. I felt like that would get me up stream further & get home on a good path to 2.

I think the run-walk-run idea is good. Part of my troubles are caused because I don’t have a good feel for what his timing is going to be.

Sequence one. I am going to do sequence 2 again today & see if I incorporate your feedback.
    Thanks!

Hi there. We went to another trial & had a lot of good stuff. Some things to work on I am not surprised about like proofing handling after the AF, but other stuff having to do with distance. I am finding that to be where I want to handle a turn, I need to be able to send him out on a line. This just happened with past dogs, but Hoke is going to need a bit more help.

Here is our connection work on package 4. I separated the walk from the run video so I could look side by side. It’s hard to simulate in your walk through running as fast as you will with the dog!

I felt so bad about my performance in sequence 2 that I couldn’t look at the video until the next day. I was just totally incapable of staying connected on 5-6.

    Sequence 3

I was so depressed about sequence 2, I didn’t want to try sequence 4. Fortunately, I am an eternal optimist, so I will try it later today!

    Thank you!

    Hi there.
I went back to the 1st run, best run segment with your feedback in mind. It went much better.

I worked along with the Live class Monday night & it went great. I will go back to the last sequence with the jump- ‘DW’ discrimination next week. I want to work on that when we are fresh.

    Thank you!

    >>>>>So overall as you walk it – you can slow yourself down to match him more and add a lot more connection.>>>

Yes… Connection is always a thing for me. We ran a Premier JWW at a friend’s this morning. With my connection, we did great even with the backside threads we have been struggling with.

Thank you! It does help to see the walk-through video.

    Tracy-
Please let me know if you have any ideas on this. We first tried the verbal out about a week ago. Then we have had two sessions with just the tunnel & moving my chair all around; then 2 sessions with just the jumps & then put them back together today.

I would think he was deaf if I didn’t know better. Several months ago I did about 20 sessions with the threadle tunnel verbal, jump, and occasional tunnel. I used a thing to block off the incorrect option & thought I was seeing progress but finally got tired of it & let it go.

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

“You can pull up a chair to just a tunnel or just a jump and see if he will take the obstacle with the verbal only. And if so?”

I will video our next session… We did a couple of sessions with only jump or only tunnel available, then both 10’ apart.

Here is video on the One & done skill set. Sequence one, I was able to find a better way to handle.

Session two, ditto. I will work the section on you gave us layering. Both of us have a hard time running on grass. But it’s good for us to get outside of our small building.

Hi! We are back. We went to any AKC trial and a lot of good things happened. Obstacle performance is good. I can see where I need a bit more proofing & lost the AF for one day. Thrilled with soft turns with off course options. I have a tendency to stop & admire those turns though!

I really, really want to get this. I checked my first video & could see I was not walking a straight line to the bar-wing… So second is better.

I also discovered with the verbal exercise that I have not trained verbals for the obstacles. I have had a couple of sessions with nothing set up but tunnel & alternated with sit, stand, back up, etc. Then did one today with just jump set up. He did go find some wings when I turned to face the other way. I know he likes to guess. I am not sure where to go from here to add the two together.

Thank you! I am relieved to have some help getting this problem sorted. It will be a couple of days before I can get back to this but I’ll stay with this instead of move on to more sexy stuff.

Is he just guessing what I want? Do I see a bit of decel and is that what he responds to?
    Argghh…

Hi! I was sidetracked with a stomache bug, followed by dehydration but getting back on track.

I just took a threadle class on line from Jordan Biggs. It was brilliant, but true to form, I flake out when it gets to the speed & proofing. I am going to look back on that when I have a chance.

Here is our warm up for Live Class. I see where I am clearly cueing the tunnel & so does Hoke!

So THEN, I pulled up the video of the zoom class and, boom, there it is: the exercise I need to work that back side proofing. Video to follow shortly. What a mess.

    Here it is!
I had trouble on the first run getting the straight a head jump after the tunnel. I pretty much have to stop my motion to send. Then the backside & other threads. 😏 I struggle with these skills since my dogs have always had a ton of reinforcement for front sides before I train threads. I can get them from a stationary, one jump training set up, but really struggle to proof them.

One my second go, I tried to get more of a push to that same jump but looks like I did it while he was in the tunnel. 😀 still a struggle to the backside & took the other one out completely.

We are taking a jump class from Kim Collins. We also have a super fitness program from Dr. Leslie. Hoke has changed from a skinny little boy to a bodybuilder. Sadly, he has hip dysplasia. We have a great support program so Dr. Leslie. believes we will be ok for a while. *sigh*

We also did the first jumpers course last week & saw some of the same weak spots as the first exercise.
