    Hi Tracy!

I saw the link for the Deceleration game – good stuff, thank you! I also wanted to thank you for all the wonderful feedback in this class <3. We can’t wait for MaxPup 4 🙂

    Safe travels!

    Hi Tracy!

I tried this sequence again with a jump behind the tunnel – so much easier to use my jump verbal that I couldn’t help but layer the tunnel :). And yep – arm high/broken connection meant she took the tunnel, haha. Gotta keep working on that.

Oh hey! I was re-reading the email you sent back on 8/9 about the Week 9 games. The first game listed is ‘Concept Transfer: Deceleration’ but I don’t see a link to it? Just links for Wingin’ It, Teeter Foundation, Contacts Foundation and For Giggles. I also checked a different browser but it was the same deal there.

    Thank you!!

    Hi Tracy!

Aw, thanks! Threadle wraps/rears are a favorite skill.

We worked on Wingin’ It: Yes Tunnel, No Tunnel, Go Tunnel from Week 9. It’s one video but there were two separate sessions, first being the Baby Dog reps (through 1:28) and second being the Advanced reps.

Can’t believe our time here is almost done. Depending on the weather I might try to get a session of the RC banana line from Week 9 on video – been doing some mat work along the way so this will be a good test to see where we’re at…

    Thank you!

    Good morning!

Thanks so much for your feedback on the previous videos! UKI is my favorite venue!!

We worked on the forced front cross sequences:

At 1:09 is the balance rep – not sure if I was still too far away but I did see her put in an extra stride for the turn. I had worked this set before I saw your feedback, but will go back and work on making the leadout picture between the threadle and lead out push look similar (with the slight differences you mention).

    Thanks so much!

    Hi!

“and she smoked you” LMAO! She almost clipped me 😀

I actually have run her several times NFC in Speedstakes! A few times at 12″ and a couple of times at 16″. She did great. I didn’t really notice her getting any more amped than she already does when training (but will keep an eye on it). Since she was a puppy I’ve brought her with me to trials to get exposure to that environment, mostly during course builds/walks and practice whatever behaviors we’d been working on. We are really looking forward to the Transition to Trials class I’ve seen mentioned.

We finished up part 3 of leadouts and big lines and started forced front crosses and threadles. The first video I forgot to do the bit at the end with starting her at the tunnel for more speed into the wraps. The second video is a bit long (sorry ’bout that!) but includes work on both sides.

    Thank you!!

    Hi Tracy,

I hope you’re having a nice weekend so far! Thank you for your thoughts on our leadouts and startlines. On these next exercises I did try leaving her in a stand-stay – I think she likes that better! Since she’s already in a stand when I leave her I just tell her to ‘wait’. Over the past couple of days we worked on the turn aways from Week 7 and a couple of the lead out/big line exercises from Week 8.

    Wingin’ It: Turn Aways:

In these exercises I have her jumping at 16″…

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you so much for the clarification between serp and layering handling!

We worked on the lead outs from Week 7. A video for each of the variations working both sides, with breaks in between.

    Moving blind cross:

    Front cross:

    Leadout Push:

Around 1:56 I had a derp moment and forgot which side I was working so ended up just throwing her the toy.

    Thank you!

    Hi Tracy!

Gosh, thank you so much for your feedback! I can see the effect shoulder rotation has. I have to be more like a wide receiver. And yeah, that lead change before takeoff in that one rep was pretty cool. Haha, and kicking up dirt after landing is not so bueno.

I have a question about something. Say you have a serp line with three jumps, but you only want to take the first and third jump. So out over the first and in over the third, skipping (layering) the second. So to cue that we would run straight across the second jump with no shoulder rotation until the third jump? And I would probably give my jump in extension verbal cues (‘hup’)…. Should my dog-side arm be doing anything while going by the second jump, like sticking straight out or pointing somewhere? I want to have a good balance between the two. I tend to layer a lot with my older dog and have a hard time getting her to come back into me. (Maybe I’m not using enough shoulder rotation! I should go back and do some of these exercises with her :)).

Anyhoo, here is our work on tunnel entries and exits over a couple of sessions:

    Thank you!

    Hi Tracy!

We worked on the serpentines from Week 6 through the first part of the first sequence. About the verbals – I started to add my soft turn cue to the first jump in the serpentine to get her headed away from me to the next jump. I’m not sure if that’s going to be more trouble than it’s worth. Though if I were handling on the inside of that slight turn, I’d be using the soft turn cue. So I feel like I need to use it to stay consistent. Also if I were to fall behind, that soft turn cue could be handy to get her to turn away from me and not curl back. Maybe I’m overthinking it 🙂

I’ve edited my post to add our second part of serpentine work. Hope that’s ok! Welp, I think I found a reason why the soft turn verbals might come in handy?! (second video @0:58) LOL. I was so far behind. Finally figured out I could blind cross the tunnel exit instead to get further ahead up the serp line. Also noticed some of my tunnel exit turn cues were late – oof!

Thank you for your feedback on my previous submissions, like keeping my dog-side arm back on spin exits, etc. I saw you mention field guides to someone else – I will try to do the same. So many gems to remember and apply :). We took a shot at the double blinds today. Oboy :). My timing was a bit all over, being too early and then too late. I was getting a better feel for it though as we did more reps, I think. I was also trying to be consistent with my verbal on the last wing – if I wanted her to go to the tunnel at the end I gave her my soft turn cue. If I wanted her to come to me for the reward I gave her my directional wrap cue. I’m loving this process of installing power steering 🙂

    Hi Tracy!

We were finally able to get to a couple of the Week 4 games! In the second video the last rep at 1:14 I was focused on dropping the toy so I failed to re-connect with her over my left shoulder (shoulda had toy in my left hand). Oops!

    Thank you!

Hello! It’s been so warm and rainy this past week – finally got a break! We worked on Wingin’ It Countermotion Commitment from Week 3…

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Tracy!

The other day we did some work on motion override:

We were also playing around with it a couple days before that when a big firecracker (or maybe a rifle shot?) went BOOM. We both startled but after a few curse words on my part we carried on one more rep as she didn’t seem bothered at all. (She’s not bothered in the least by thunder.) We made our way back into the house after that for a break. It was only that one single boom. I went back to Max Pup Foundations to look through the resilience games and found the one on handling unexpected events and read through it. I’ll be better prepared the next time something like this happens!

    Hi Tracy!

Eek, I definitely don’t want to confuse my dog on a post turn vs. rear cross!! I can totally see it where you pointed it out. When working on the Straight Lines 4 Ways I was trying to be more mindful about at least not using a shoulder pull in the opposite direction of which I wanted an RC turn.
