At 1:02 you can see what I’m
Talking about a little bit. Her hips are a little bit out to the side (to her right) relative to the front of her. I’ve noticed this at different points in play and training but it just seems more evident to me in these line scenarios. I’ll try to do some research tonight and tomorrow with the setups you described to get a better idea! Thanks!

You are so right here! She’s almost having to stretch to get over the jump. I think I had them too far out. Previous ladder grid work we’ve done at 5 feet. I was more precise and accurate tonight with distance and she handled it much better (bouncing in middle). I swear sometimes she’s jumping sideways on these things. Do you see that on the last portion of this video? If so, should I worry about it? https://youtu.be/adoHYgFsHoA

Arty had a big weekend with an all day seminar yesterday so today’s session was pretty short. Just did the ladder grid exercise. Hope you had a great weekend!

Tonight’s session had a few challenges. I left the cameo of the neighbors dog coming to visit in for context 😂 also had a few technical difficulties so missed a few videos of successful reps. First attempts I did not open up my chest enough as you mentioned in previous exercises. I tried to over exaggerate. I think between the distraction of a dog visiting and wild wind, I may have pushed the session a bit too much hence in the ending when we were struggling a bit, I tried to just let her be successful on a tunnel. https://youtu.be/fMkctrVh6XY

Oh em gee it was so fun to put these skills into faster action!! Did things a bit different and used a fur tug frisbee but made sure to use cheese for our resets between turns. Love the enthusiasm/speed I got with this different toy. For the rears, I think my line is more curved then you described. I’ll be more conscious of that next time. For the back sides I was a bit confused but think I did it better with second attempts on each side. Super fun game! LOVING this class, just wish I had more time to practice 😂 https://youtu.be/EepvbB1VQMY

One more for today from this afternoon. Sorry we are trying to play catch up! Finding the jump. I feel like a look a little awkward with toy in my right arm and I also wasn’t sure how much signaling I was supposed to be doing of jumó but I decided to let her find it/think about what I wanted instead of just que’ing it more with my body language. https://youtu.be/7GMwGUhXESA

Went out yesterday morning and did 2nd attempt on the threadle and first practice with the slicing. Tried to focus on more commitment and speed but needed a little refresher with each side on the threadle. Will keep working on this one for sure till we are more consistently successful. I did not crop down both of these videos bc I’m
Wondering if you have any feedback on the in between parts. You can see her sitting in front of the treat trainer during the threadle practice. Is this just learning to train with different motivators and learning that the treat only comes when it’s earned? Sometimes when we are doing these smaller tasks with more brain work I have a harder time keeping her enthusiastic and working happily. Any advice there?

Mama had a little vacation so Arty had a week off! Sorry for the pause in posting and the subsequent multiple posts as I try to get caught up! Did the threadle game today after returning home and realized I really haven’t taught this. Did some shaping and we got better understanding of what I was wanting but I think we’ll need a couple more sessions at this level to get to confident understanding. https://youtu.be/Hu7gBEvMviM

We thought the mini pin wheel was fun! She seemed extra drivey with a little collar restraint. Was feeling pretty confident then I tried having her turn away. First attempt didn’t go well but the. After two attempt turning toward in each side I did it again with an easier angle and she was successful. Will definitely come back to this! https://youtu.be/hD_Amjxp508

Hope you had a lovely holiday weekend! Here’s a video of our work from the game this week. I think my tunnels have been in the same place too long and I’ve patterned some of the turns out of them. Worked one tunnel earlier in week then switched sides to break the routine but you can see as I tried to get her to “go” she still turned in quite a bit. We are trying to figure out connection and motivation in the field so there’s a few little moments where we are working through some of those distractions. Also trying to make sure all frisbees are out away after frisbee play so they don’t become a distraction. I ended up going and getting a toy and trying to do a couple drive lines at the end just to get her driving forward and make sure she understands the “go”. Loved your video on different reward styles and helpful points for training with toys. Super helpful! https://youtu.be/IC94CCv_He4

Going to finish up the weekend with a handful of videos!

I tried yesterday and today doing more work with treats. First round I had toy in shirt to be able to keep things fun and play as reward between reps. I was using a fairly high value treat in our treat trainer. Didn’t go so well. Both set point and smiley game were full of disconnects and not as drivey. I think in the set point you can see her not getting near as much distance and the smiley video we got stuck in a couple places.

Today I left the toy inside and brought out the cheese and tried to engage with cheese first. I like these results better. May try this for a couple days before I bring out the toy again? Set point was not as good as those first reps driving to toy but was better than yesterday. Also yesterday was one of our first hotter days of training and she’d had a decent walk in the morning so that probs attributed to some of the difference between days. Anyways, I’ll stop rambling 😊

Great feedback! She is a mini labradoodle. My first agility dog with whom I stumbled into agility is a minI labradoodle and I thought and thought about many other breeds that you see more of in agility but she’s been such a great dog that I couldn’t resist another. Artemis has been SO FUN to train. Almost too much toy drive if that’s possible, haha. Working on finding that balance 🙂

I’ll keep a close eye on the set point to make sure I’ve got the distance optimized for her learning. That’s helpful.

Good call on the connection loss. I assumed it was her heading for the toy that was on my right side instead of the left that I wanted her on but we have been doing quite a lot of different crosses including blinds.

Looking forward to doing the other games this weekend and adding more challenge to this one!

Here is video number two! The wind game. I think I was cheating a bit the first couple attempts because I threw the toy before I could confirm she was looking over jump. Then we had a bumble where she crossed behind me going for the toy. Then a few good reps with toy out in front! https://youtu.be/KgCPRmkduYs

Here’s our first video! When I first read submission guidelines I thought we only did 2 minutes for entire first lesson but I went back and saw 2 minutes per “game” so I’m assuming you want approx 2 minutes of each game in the lesson? At any rate, we’ve done some foundation jumping grids with our jump bumps but it’s cool to slow it down and watch her mechanics with this one! Here you go: https://youtu.be/hMuVQx8Itw4

Here is our final homework! The hours of pleasant temperature are waning as my work hours are increasing so I apologize for squeezing it in at last minute. Don’t have two tunnels so I was making do with just the one for the final sequence. We did the jump lines first then took a long break in the AC then did just about 3 minutes of work on the longer sequence. We’ve really enjoyed the class and I feel I’ve learned some good training tricks for working on speed and some better methods for training with toys which is really motivating for Peach! She has absolutely LOVED all the toy play. About to take her to a dock diving lesson to let her swim and fetch her favorite toys in the water and you better believe we’ll be using some of the back pressure/”ready ready” excitement shaping behaviors we have been working on!! Thanks for everything!
