ParticipantOne last video – down to the wire!
Wow, you can read minds! You knew I needed to work Threadle sides! Amazing! I’ll read the PDF attached. I think I may print everything and put it in a binder so it will be easier to work through systematically. I can go back and watch the videos as needed.I am not sure if it’s in this clip or not, but as I try to move more laterally, Maia jumps off the teeter. You never seemed to have this issue. Do I need to make narrower and multiple “w” s, so to speak, so that she gets more used to me being farther away?
Thanks for all the great feedback. It’s been educational and fun!

ParticipantHeading off to ring rental shortly to practice your last great feedback but didn’t want to forget to ask for your suggestion on something. Perhaps this was just on the weave pole training because I don’t think I saw you doing it during this course. Need your training suggestion on:
threadle side wraps
I don’t think I had much success with this on the weave pole training. Have you been doing it in these videos?
She’s pretty good with choo choo choo = wrap right and key key key = wrap left when she is on my outer side. But I can’t seem to give her the right cues to wrap if I am on the outside (facing the wrap).
What do you recommend?
Thanks!

ParticipantNeed to master the 2o2o so switched to doing some poles. On the mat, Maia misses the entries when I ask her to do the wing wrap. What am I doing wrong here?
When I skipped the wings, I could make some progress on super independence with poles.
Last clip is from Saturday where she popped out of the weaves. I had to return the individual base weaves that I could adjust to the person who loaned them to me so I have 6 poles I can put in ground. In lessons, we leave the channels a very little bit open and she does great. Should I just keep working them a little open?
Thanks!

ParticipantP.S. I also lost her focus on the wrap in the middle. She chose the jump and tunnel. Could have been the air conditioning or were my cues off?

ParticipantHello!
This is a long video working independence. Fortunately the teeter was set up in a better spot to work. It’s long because still working on release and takes extra time for me to put down treats in between. The air turned on at one point which threw her off, but hew response is much more subtle than in the past. Improvement! Please just watch at a higher speed.
One other note – I did a session before this but missed the button to start the video. I worked to going more lateral and to my great surprise, she jumped off the teeter in the middle on a couple of attempts. I was not expecting that at all! So in this video I didn’t get too far away from her.
Thanks!

ParticipantNever mind!!!! I’m reading more of the steps and she does need to look up toward my face! Got it!
Lisa Nelson
ParticipantGreat feedback above, looking forward to working this.
Looking at transition to trials, package 2, step 1 – first time we did this Maia didn’t look at my face, I did the get it when she looked toward me. Pretty sure you covered this in video, but prefer reading through the notes right now. Thanks!

Argh…with Sunday rental, I didn’t film anything. They had a short tunnel and worked a bit with that and just working the wrap, using choo, choo, choo for right and ended up with key, key key for wrap to her left.
Finally found an available time that works for me where I go for lessons, Weds night. Tonight was a disaster. Also not quite the right set up, no short tunnel was available so stuck with teeter. Problem was I had to put wrap next to tunnel entrances and I had no success getting her to wrap then to teeter. I even went so far as to block both entrances with wraps but she squeezed past on the way in and out! My girl loves those tunnels. 🙂
On Sunday she did much better when there wasn’t a fun tunnel right in front of her but have identified that we need to really work hard on mastering wraps. Can you lay out some step by step wrap instructions?
I did a couple of reps without the wrap and they seemed to go ok. We worked a lot on 2o2o on Sunday and yesterday and made great improvement but was challenging today and it kind of got in the way.
I will post another video link (same one) out of an abundance of caution.
Thanks!

ParticipantMorning,
I am not creative and if you don’t mind my copying, what is your wrap left cue? I couldn’t hear you at the beginning of the 1st skill set.
Wrap right, I will also be a copy cat, with choo, choo, choo. It’s cooler so I rented some ring time later this morning. It’s not air conditioned, but it’s super nice.
Thanks!

ParticipantOkey dokey….
I will go back to 2o2o. She knows “target” and was doing that for awhile. Your rationale makes sense – she is just too fast! but in a good way!
Next practice: 8/8
NFC UKI speedstakes, 2 runs. Nice to see 2 runs available back to back. Have only done speedstakesSeminar full but asked to be put on her list.
Let me know when you start updating your calendar. Muncie is a tad farther than what I’d like to drive. I looked at the farm and see that Daisy Peel will be there in Sept. Thoughts?
Great ideas on the leash. I will use get it and drop it.
THanks!

ParticipantAnd your feedback makes great sense on Run 2. Thanks.

ParticipantHello,
In the first transition to trials game, Maia grabs her leash and starts to tug as soon as I start to run to the treat bowl. It’s not even a tug/leash, just a plain ole’ leash.
You talk about using the leash as a tug reward in the ring, but making sure we are clear about when it is used for reinforcement. Maia is all about the tugging until we get close to the cookies, then she switches her focus. Am I going to far from the cookies?
What do you recommend here? Let her play tug with the leash until we get to the cookies?
Thanks.
Also, I saw that you are going to the quad cities in a few weeks for a clinic. I’m sure you are booked for young dogs and we have some things going on, but can you provide the contact info? I could make Sunday if that’s the day for young dogs and someone can’t make it at the last minute.
Do you have any other clinics scheduled in the same general area? I live in the far northern suburbs of Chicago. Do you have an email list you can add me to for clinics?
Thanks.

ParticipantAll I do is select share, copy link in youtube. Then I click on link (above), click in the paste area and paste it.
It seems to copy extra characters on this one. I deleted everything before https://
This link works for me if I copy and paste it into browser. Let me know.
