    Hi,

    Happy New Year Tracy,

We are back at it. Here are some videos that we did in this morning’s play.

    Cueing to outside of cones:

    “Get Out” to neutral object

    Wait & Go, tug, repeat

I reviewed a few exercises a bit quickly this morning so no telling what I’ve missed. Looking forward to your feedback as always.

    best. Lori

Hi Tracy, Sounds good. I’ll ping pong more and add arousal to backing up. She sometimes barks instead of backing up when super aroused do we’ll work on it more.

Yes, you read that correctly–this back-up to plank sequence and context were set up for the first time. OK will add arousal here, too. Oh and I agree about her head position right before she sat.

I’ve been doing wobble board fun and games. Taking a break from it but will add in again and send some video.

    Here’s a short video of a collection sandwich: https://youtu.be/I0vHfYOLq-M
We will do this more once you send feedback. I think I can use more of my space next time.

And this video was of our 2nd and 3rd tries at this. The 3rd one shows how important toy handling is lol https://youtu.be/THIkjqBOZ-s

    thanks, Lori

Thank you Tracy, all of this sounds good. My own class is wrapping up so I should have more time for your class now (finally!).

Here are some videos from this morning’s play:
backing up (it’s my fault she started out backing at an angle)

targeting plank with turn between (first time for this series though she does a lot of hind paws up and hind-paw targeting to a variety of targets)

small wobble board (hesitant on small wobble board, happy to use a larger one next round):

If there’s anything you’d like to see in terms of body awareness or specific movement exercises, just let me know. We love doing this kind of work.

    thank you! Lori

    Hi Tracy,

Oh my, I knew something didn’t feel right when I took more video of the (not) “blind cross” lol I had to shoot more video due to initially shooting 2 videos in slow motion. I’m clearly not fluent in agility moves.

Hopefully, this looks better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VM_JgxvPKU Also, I changed treats to small and softer with more moisture 🙂

I completely agree about the prop for sends. I’ll do another round of sideways and backwards sends in my next available moments for video.

thank you for your feedback! Lori

    Welcome back!

I agree on ping-ponging distance–that likely would have helped.

Thank you for your encouraging words.

I’m late in posting these but here are a few videos:

    send to novel object:

    blind cross:

    More blind cross play:

    thanks so much, Lori

    HI Tracy,

Sounds good, I will shift to this next. I think you mean Prop Game 1: Building Sends… in week 1? I haven’t gotten that far yet but will add it in.

I think this is the session where Mai said she was done. It went like this: after a stare-single bark-stare, she went around one more time and we ended the session. When she barks at me, I ignore it though I noted she was ready for a change. Happy to show something similar if/when it happens again.

However, here’s our second short decel with turns foundation session: (I get very dizzy, very quickly–ugh).

I also did a quick blind cross session this morning. I will send a link later.

    thank you! Lori

    Celebrating approximations.

Here’s a short video with a jump upright. We’ve just moved on to decel & turns foundations but thought I’d post one more with a jump upright (borrowed 🙂

    Hi Tracy,

I also thought we were starting to see a side preference. And we agree, doing movement in the easy direction appears to teach the less-easy direction.

I definitely could have had the cone further away from me, which I will do next time but this will be the last video of this exercise that I turn in (unless you ask for it 🙂 Mai didn’t get a full turn before her approach to the cone (Why? because I forgot about it lol I was focused on having the bowls further back instead and they still could have been further back. Here’s an approximation though:

    thank you! Lori

    Hi Tracy,

I raised criteria this morning in 2 sessions to get to this:

You can see that I helped her once by placing one of my feet forward for a sec when I pushed the cone further away to get her started. I might not have needed to do that…

Oh and her toe-tap, so talented!

The first session I was seated on the Klimb.

    thanks, Lori

    HI,

I get joy from hearing dogs chew 🙂 and she cracks me up! I get her crunchy treats for nighttime snacks just to laugh.

She is crazy coordinated. Side-stepping is better one direction than the other but then other side catches on lol

I know right!!! Paw on cone, paw in bowl hahaha We had been playing, then filming other stuff, and yes this was probably a little boring/easy/repetitive for her. I can definitely raise criteria more quickly–I was purposefully going slower than I usually do.

I laughed when you said “…if she remembers”. I’m pretty certain she’ll remember but I’ll back off on criteria to get us started and raise criteria more quickly. Thank you for the ideas of where to go next.

And yes, she has woken up many a day and said “Eh? I don’t know what you are talking about!” Adolescents!! Thanks Tracy!

    Hi Tracy,

I’m submitting the Wing Wrap Foundations. I went through all of the baby steps, in other sessions, and this is where we are now. The session was a bit long given our other activities and training this morning so I stopped it at paw-in-bowl lol

    thanks, Lori

Thank you for the good info on “why tug?”.

She enjoys her holee roller for sure and many other toys. I do use them in training as a secondary R+ so we should be able to incorporate them where needed or when preferred. I used to have a bungee tug and may get another one…

And FYI, we are not likely to compete in agility. I will take plenty of classes though for the joy of it 🙂

    best, Lori

    Hi Tracy,

    re: tugging
She is strong. And when she tugs it hurts my neck and shoulders. Also, she gets a bit amped.

Is it important that she tug?

Thanks for all of your comments.

    thanks, Lori

Paw target video: Yes, the toss is in lieu of tugging.

Nose target video: And here’s the second video based on your feedback for the nose-touch exercise (using verbal and treats ready in hand).

    thank you!

Our second video of a nose touch to a piece of cardboard.
