Quick question. How far apart should calavetti poles be for walking through for hind end awareness? I don’t have a ladder smaller than 16:feet and a gazillion pounds (vaulted ceilings, lol) so I’m thinking I can use them. I just ordered another set so that I will have 6. Have them pretty close together and he is going through them no problems, but I would like to be correct in spacing and not goof the poor little guy up. Thank you!

I feed raw and would really prefer to not be tossing on my carpet. I’m willing to feed from my hand, but I will have to reload each time as I really don’t want a huge hand full of raw food to manipulate in one hand, I will make a mess for sure. I’m going to cut some string cheese very small. I’m also going to try some tortellini. I bought some very tiny kibble as well.

I did notice after I watched that my hand was too high, will work on that. Question: will I always need to bend low to cue this or is it just in training for the prop touch and will transition later (I’m always getting told to stand up and quit bending over, 🤦‍♀️).

Going to take the week to work mechanics and train, will see Suzie Wednesday too. I was going to shoot a bunch of videos there, may not and just work mechanics for a couple of weeks?

    Thanks!

Okay, I need help, tried little kibble and he spends his time trying to find it instead of running back. This is really the only area I currently have to train. The weather has turned and the garage will be slushy and have salt remnants. Do I throw a sheet down. I’m discouraged, he can see the Charlie Bears, but they’re big. I’ve tried small freeze dried sweet potato and he doesn’t like them (this is not my Sheltie, lol). Do I bring out chicken???

Also, I think my mechanics suck, especially worry about him finding the kibble. Crying here, ugh.

Will do. He only get 35 grams twice a day. I think I’m going to try and find toy kibble, tiny pieces, and use that. I try not to do a lot of kibble, but if tiny, maybe it will work. Thanks you!!!

Lol, thanks . . . I have different treat but I worry about putting on weight (I’m super stressed about it now) so I end up using Charlie bears. I’ll cut Zukes in half and use them. Gotta find something white for my carpet. May go to tortellini.

Back to correct the barrel work. I think he’s got it. Sorry about the wing, I’m such a visual learner that u less I have a book in my hand that I’m underlining, I skip a lot of reading 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I will do better. Wings are put away until you say, lol. We have played some Vito games with a mat and two cones earlier so I think a lot is transferring. Hopefully can get a good running aframe, lol.

Let me know if I should keep backing up further and further. Thank you! He’s really getting excited to train (Shelties and treats, lol).

I think I will use dog to go all the way around, usually backside wrap I think. Going to go with the well used check check check for a left and cap cap cap for a right, although if there are better ones, we have just started putting them on the behavior, easy to change?

Blind, decel, and rear. I should have rewarded him more, he has so much value for the foot target, I need to just keep reinforcing that.again. Will video at Suzie’s next week.

Here’s some front and rear cross practice. I really need a larger area. Going to practice all the stuff and then when I see Suzie next week we can work on mechanics and film for submission there. I will practice throughout the week. It’s getting cold and we are supposed to get snow, soooo, I may be making several two hour-each way commutes each week, ugh.

Here some wrapping with motion. We are expecting snow so I may be doomed to small spaced. Maybe next week when I work with Suzie we can video there. We had been doing stuff in the training room so he was only interested in treats ( I tried the tug first and he kept running into the training room, lol.

Let me know your thoughts. I can really leave as soon as I send in a bigger space. Thank you!

Here’s rear end awareness.Mia think I’m ready to move it back an inch or two. We’ve been practicing with the barrel, foot target and peanut. Trying to get my mechanics perfect, ugh . . . He’s doing amazing and very confident. Videos will follow when I get brave enough to post, lol. Here’s the rear foot target.

Thanks, I don’t see Suzie again until the 15th, so I will tell her where we are and have her help me with my mechanics. Thank you so much. The plank is a travel plank, so I will spread it out to full length, but straight. Will that be okay.

Thank you for the feedback. He does have a couple of other tug toys he enjoys. I will put them all in a pile and play, play play. Thank you!

    Tracy,

This is our morning routine after breakfast. I started this early because he had no interest in tugging at all. I will admit August and September got crazy and it wasn’t an everyday thing. I have picked it back up though. I had to laugh this morning, I ended the game, let other dogs out of their crates, picked up bowls, let them out and put bowls in the dishwasher. He came back in, saw a different tug toy on the floor (yea, I have toys every where, ugh), grabbed it, brought it to me, and wanted to play. Huge!!! Anyway, let me know from a mechanics standpoint what I should be doing, should I add anything, etc. thank you!
