    Hi Tracy,

I am not sure if I am getting better or worse at the tunnel turns lol. Poor Ruse. I shifted the wing at the end of the tunnel in from 6m to 4m. Each wing to the side is 4m.

When giving the tunnel cue I added the directional and tried to turn my body at the same time. Once she wasn’t committed to the tunnel and she came with me. Her right turns are still very wide, so I am still obviously not cuing this early enough.

    Hi Tracy,

Thank you for the further explanation, I appreciate it!

I tried really hard tonight to keep moving when doing the bang game on Hero’s left. I had to slow it right down a couple of times so that he could be successful. I am still not sure if my rewarding backwards is in the right spot for him as he still has to leave position to get the treat.

I tried to get less “noodling” on the elevator game. Your tip of feeding him and keeping a cookie in front of his face worked nicely.

    Hi Tracy,

Had dog club AGM tonight so not time for practice but I wanted to make sure I understood your comment about splitting the behaviour for the bang game. So Hero is still stepping off instead of staying on the target when he is on my right (his left). Are you saying that I keep moving and if he steps off without release that I should not reward that? (I don’t want that behaviour so that makes sense). And I only reward him for holding position by releasing him forward to the MM? I am confused about to make him realise he should hold position.

Or do you mean, even if he steps off and then corrects himself, I should reward him with a “catch” low and behind him. Then if he holds position all by himself without correction he can be released to the MM as his reward?

Sorry for being dense, but it seems like I have already confused him again! Best sort it out now so it’s black and white for him. I have been playing the same game with Ruse. She is really good on both sides. Her issue is when I increase my speed it is really arousing for her and she forgets to hold position.

    Hi Tracy,

The bang game is getting better but Hero still wants to move when I am on his left. I don’t know if it is ok, but I tried a non reward marker tonight. When he tried to move, I said oops, and released him and tried again. He actually stayed in place! I needed to break the habit of always coming with me on that side, and it seemed to help. Is this wrong? I was able to slowly walk out a bit on that side. The other side seems pretty solid, but I didn’t push it by jogging, just kept a slow walk.

With the elevator game I didn’t realise I was releasing at the same time as the slam cue. Today I rectified that. I also thought he was supposed to have his front paws on the target, my bad. Today after the countdown and the slam cue I dropped the seesaw no matter what he was doing. He did mess around a bit getting on and off the seesaw, but I just waited til he stayed on before starting my countdown again.

    Hi Tracy,

Yeah left turns are definitely not as tight, although tonight rights were suboptimal. We practiced different handling after the turn, and put in some go go go as well. Ruse thought it was fun!

    Hi Tracy,

Tonight I tried really hard to let Hero finish the poles before pressing the MM button. I also slowed my motion to a walk. He still hit the poles a little but he was mostly good in this session. Now that he is actually weaving, should I practice every other day instead of every day?

    Hi Tracy,

I tried to make sure that I had Hero jump on the seesaw from the side right at the end. He seemed ok. I didn’t move too much and made sure I got the rewards in before he stepped off the seesaw when I was on his right side.

We tried to play the elevator game as well today. The mechanics for me were challenging lol. Hopefully I didn’t get it too wrong. Hero didn’t seem to mind, I did the same tip as the bang game.

    Hi Tracy,

Today we started with the poles closed up to weaving distance, but poles 3&4 1-7. Hero was going quite well, so I straightened the poles. I turned off the beep on the TT he still knew to go get the reward. I only messed him up when I tried to move in the opposite direction to his weaving, which he questioned. He seems to be still hitting the poles little. Will this be a problem going forward?

    Hi Tracy,

I tried to tell Ruse the turn command earlier this time and multiple times. She is turning better I think. I had her catch up to me and take a treat from my hand as that is not as stimulating to her as the ball.

    Hi Tracy,

Tonight we tightened up the weave poles with 1&2 straight and 3&4 almost straight and still have a big gap between the two sets. Hero was still pretty solid. I only managed to make him fail once when I really pushed a rear cross.

    Hi Tracy,

More bang game today, just as it started to rain!

Hero is doing pretty well, I tried to do minimal movement on his left side, he is still coming off the target a little. Watching back I did release him off the side a couple of times which I didn’t know I was doing. He’s still very enthusiastic. He does love a good game.

    Hi Tracy,

We had another crack. I tried to put the camera so you can see the angle Ruse comes out of the tunnel. Her left turns weren’t bad, but we did a few reps so she probably just patterened it. Right turns were quite wide, the camera wasn’t good here sorry.

I also tried to make sure I was moving slowly. I do have a tendancy to run at things. When I do seesaw with Hero, I also do it with RUse. Today I moved a little fast as I couldn’t make her break. As soon as my speed picked up, she was like, target? what target, too busy going fast lol.

    Hi Tracy,
Hero and I had a fun session today. I tried to add a couple of steps past the seesaw before going back and rewarding him. He was good when I was on his right, and stayed in position. I don’t know what was different about me being on his left but he seemed to jump into position and start to come with me and then realise he should stay on the target. He did this almost every rep on that side. I found it odd, given he was so solid when I was on the other side. I guess he had questions that I couldn’t answer lol. I was rewarding him when I said the release cue, but I stopped doing that halfway through the session so that he would know he got rewards on the seesaw. He didn’t have a problem releasing with out a treat.

    Hi Tracy,

I don’t know why, but I am finding this game hard. Ruse was coming out of the tunnel looking at me, as I used an earlier cue and turned my body before she entered. But she is still coming out long. It’s like she needs a tunnel brake. The camera angle is not very good, so you can actually see how far out of the tunnel she comes before she turns. A couple of times I did the command too early and she didn’t take the tunnel. There is a fine line!

I was lazy with my right turns, I realised when I repositioned the camera to do left turns I should actually move to get her to turn tighter around the wing.

    Hi!
Today we tightened up poles 3&4, so they are almost straight, but still a gap from 1&2. Poles 1&2 are straight.

We also did the find ’em game 2. It was fun. Hero didn’t seem to question it. But I notice his turns are also wide on the 12 o’clock wing!
