Tracy, regarding what was different with the obedience ring – I had tried to do this in the agility ring (he has ZERO training on actual agility obstacles, so he does not volunteer them, not even the jumps), but it was too wide open, and despite not doing the agility obstacles, I think they applied some extra pressure. He also zoomed away from me to go to the ring gating, in my opinion scoping opportunities to play with other people or dogs. I decided to switch to the obedience ring because it’s smaller, and there’s no equipment in the middle of the floor. And FYI this ring is in the opposite corner of the facility from the agility ring, there is no easy line of sight – I think if we had been in an adjacent ring, we would not have been as successful.
    Thanks for all you thoughts!
    Cheers, Andrea

Been playing hooky with hikes in the snow! We’ve been working on the curriculum, just not recording as much, and still woefully behind! I learned this week I have no verbal ‘down’ command, and I really need to work on our recall! Desperately seeking life skillz!

Did more backing up sessions – I had better luck if I was seated on the floor as I could see the motion of his rear paws better. I think I m slowly getting him to move backwards in an upright position vs the play bow position he had been offering me (nuchbto my amusement). Sorry this b

I feel like we’re going pretty well with goat tricks and plank work – backing up is another story, BliZZard is frustrated with me! I’ll try to get some off-camera sessions and keep it short.

BliZZard is 6 months old today! Blind cross foundations was fun, the mechanics of doing the goat trick shaping is challenging; I’m utilizing my grooming table as a staging area. Will try wobble board next, then add noisy stuff under it. I suppose we will have to play tug off camera for that! So much content here, Tracy, I’m hopelessly behind, but BliZZard and I are having fun!

Tracy, I feel like we are horribly behind! I did lose a week doing stuff with Joy, and my job does not leave me with an excess of free time. We will just keep plugging away at a pace suitable for BliZZard…

I did feel his send from behind were better than the sideways ones.
I had to add the picture of BliZZard “helping” to edit the video. He could hear the clicks, he could hear the treats hitting the bowls, but there were no cookies to be found! 😂

Sorry it’s taken me so long to post – I’ve been a little distracted with my other dog! BliZZard is super-fun and quite bright!
