ParticipantWe all had fun with the ladder after the tunnel. Also revisited the double crosses and I think there is some improvement. I tried to put into effect your suggestions but I still look late on the 2nd cross and it’s not so easy to get her around the 3rd wing. We’ll keep practising!

ParticipantNeed to be faster – even my slowest dog smoked me…
Wendy
ParticipantFound the throwback tough – running forward and turning backwards… then picking up with the same hand. This seemed to involve a lot of moving out of the way, sideways or backwards to let them thru. Maisy didn’t bother, just went straight into the wrong end while I pfaffed about. Sassy did the best because she is the slowest, lol. At the moment anyway!
Wendy
ParticipantI’m hoping these blinds are better. I’m trying to keep my wings in but I may also need to cut off my hands at the wrist. Put the toy away.
Wendy
ParticipantSo much fun! says Maisy. OK, my cues were a littttle late on the turns initially (or verbals non-existent) but she had no trouble with the 3 ‘dogwalk’ positions in seq 1. I slowed her progress down some by yelling ‘tunnel’ on jump 6 when she otherwise wouldn’t have had a problem taking 7 but we fixed it. She does not give me a lot of thinking time….

ParticipantTiming on the middle wing was tough! leave too early or trip over your crested seemed to be my 2 choices. The whole fam had a go. Maisy was a bit “I’ve finished before you’ve even started” which isn’t surprising lol.
Wendy
ParticipantI feel I’ve lost track of time – are we really up to week 9? Yikes.
Live wingin it W4. When I added verbals I think I went at half-speed, lol. I can see she is going to be quite forgiving.
Wendy
ParticipantWe went back to Live 2 warm up 3 ways. This is our 4th session. They all look pretty much the same although I mistakenly deleted the videos. On the plus side, she has no issue layering. When I sent her to jump 1 she went out to the backside of jump 5 unless I threadled her into the tunnel. So I just started at the tunnel and she kept layering instead of wrapping… I had gone back and just practised wrapping a wing to help her a bit. It was better when I hid jump 4 in the bushes but I don’t see this as a long term strategy. I have to say my presence feels a bit redundant. Of course, the others managed fine although I didn’t ask the pup to layer.

ParticipantYes, you are allowed a toy in “not for comp” runs. I will try this. I have entered her in a trial next weekend, mainly to practise her startlines but I will also do some work on weaves and contacts. She was much improved when we practised weaving today.
I’ll set up the fun 2nd Live Package course tomorrow so she has some course practice.
Wendy
ParticipantI’d like to think that was the issue but in trials it’s more a “poles, what poles, I don’t see any poles” – she never actually weaves 1.
Wendy
ParticipantThese are pegged 2x2s and I also have a set of 12 screw in poles on a base that can zigzag but I suspect they will also have some flexibility. I might try and see. At trials we generally have the metal base with 3 sets of 4 poles. The poles drop in the holes which are taller than mine and they fit more snugly.
Wendy
ParticipantIdiot that I am, I was putting the wing on the wrong side. I took it away after she knocked it over and replaced it with an x-pen panel. This seemed to confuse her so I did away with the prop altogether. I think it is back to the drawing board on weaves – she has never done more than 1 weave in a trial ie one gap. She generally blasts straight past. If I move, she is inclined to pull out. We have been working on this but not recently.
Wendy
ParticipantI cannot figure out where the wing goes (and size) for week 2. It seems like a huge obstacle in the dog’s way…
Wendy
ParticipantWe’ve had some rain and have been away for a week…
Towards the end we struggled with the rear cross, not sure why.
Wendy
ParticipantWe tried seq 1b – which was harder than it looked apparently. Maisy tells me I was doing it all wrong. this is a selection of bloopers. The others managed fine. They are so much more forgiving!
