Started our zig zag work yesterday on the flat. With the bar, she initially struggled with the toy movement (each side). Sits are a perennial work in progress and rewarding mostly edited out plus all the calming scatters, throwbacks etc I get to the stage I’m just grateful if she’s not creeping. This is one reason we do the motion override game every day (and have for years, lol), in the hope the sits will become automatic.

We did some moving target and motion override between rain showers. These are games we also play to help with her startline.

Guess who did lesson 1 of H360? multi-wraps on a PNU. She ate the PNU (crispy noodle, yum) so we’re improvising.

Maisy did great at the switch setup. Clearly not my handling because Sass and co struggled with the jump behind the tunnel. I had to reduce the course size so the jump heights are low.

Yes Tunnel, No tunnel… we all had a turn. She has had a couple of sessions.

The FFX sequences showed me we really need to work on our startline stays! We struggled but I chopped most out. These sequences seem a little more staccato than I’d like.

It has been muddy and wet – ok for play with small dogs but tough on the backyard with Maisy! Inspired by the lives, we had a go at the rears. I like to think we’re generally not too bad but we haven’t done much practice on these for a long time. I struggle sending her away for long enough to do much…

We all had fun with the ladder after the tunnel. Also revisited the double crosses and I think there is some improvement. I tried to put into effect your suggestions but I still look late on the 2nd cross and it’s not so easy to get her around the 3rd wing. We’ll keep practising!

Need to be faster – even my slowest dog smoked me…

Found the throwback tough – running forward and turning backwards… then picking up with the same hand. This seemed to involve a lot of moving out of the way, sideways or backwards to let them thru. Maisy didn’t bother, just went straight into the wrong end while I pfaffed about. Sassy did the best because she is the slowest, lol. At the moment anyway!

I’m hoping these blinds are better. I’m trying to keep my wings in but I may also need to cut off my hands at the wrist. Put the toy away.

So much fun! says Maisy. OK, my cues were a littttle late on the turns initially (or verbals non-existent) but she had no trouble with the 3 ‘dogwalk’ positions in seq 1. I slowed her progress down some by yelling ‘tunnel’ on jump 6 when she otherwise wouldn’t have had a problem taking 7 but we fixed it. She does not give me a lot of thinking time….
