ParticipantHi Tracy!
Indy is playing agility today.
Here’s his T2B run. I’m so proud of him.I was trying to turn him to the right after jump 3 but he went left so I adjusted. He took an off course tunnel after the 1st teeter due to my not telling him what was next. My original intention was to RC the jump and tell him to turn left. In the moment I started to tell him to do a tight right turn. 🤦🏻♀️ He saw the tunnel & said I’ll do that cuz she doesn’t know what she’s doing!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here are his runs from Saturday. I’m so pleased with how well he’s doing.
On the FAST run I tried again to send him from the exc send line, he went out to the tunnel but I think my forward movement cause him to go around the jump. I will get this figured out! I was a bit surprised when he bailed the teeter. When the judge saw that I was going to do redo it she told me to go take something else so we did. We will be working that this week too. Hopefully I can find a dry spot in my yard after yesterday’s rain.
On the standard run he hit the weave entrance just from the wrong side. So I must have pushed a little too hard trying to straighten out the entry.
On jumpers he broke the start line and I let it go so we will be working that before our next trial!
One thing I have noticed the past couple of weekends is he doesn’t like all the barking although we have lots of barking at our house to which he contributes. I know he doesn’t care for loud noises. Yesterday was FAST with all classes combined, all standard classes & then all jumpers classes. He didn’t settle before our FAST run. He settled better for our standard run but not totally. Afterwards we sat in the area behind the ring for a little while and he settled nicely on my lap. Then when a larger dog came in barking he started getting nervous so we left. Most everyone was gone by the time we ran jumpers and he was ready to go. When we move up to excellent, we will be with all the dogs & all the barking. I’m playing the find my face game & other simple things, sit, touch, paw, etc. & trying to keep him back if there is an extremely over aroused dog in the area. Any other suggestions?

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Indy played Premier today because the Open classes weren’t offered. We got a little discombobulated in the standard class but he did some really nice things.
He almost Q’d in the JWW class! I thought I cued the weaves early enough but he ran by the entrance. So very proud of him!

ParticipantHi Tracy!
The judge was Don Farage.
I did notice he wasn’t striding through the poles as nicely. It didn’t occur to me that he might be sore. Jake, my older dog, got a a massage but hadn’t thought of Indy getting one yet. We are trialing next weekend in Blue Springs and I now have a massage scheduled for both of them.
As I was walking the standard course yesterday I literally said out loud, I need my teacher here! You!! The line to the weaves was the exact same as the Exc/ Master course. It was a struggle for most teams. I did a FC after the panel for Jake & he missed the entrance completely so I knew I wanted to stay on the near side for Indy. I knew I needed to cue deceleration to get a tighter turn & I’m realizing now, I didn’t even give him the verbal La La to indicate it. Bad handler.
Sonia was the videographer. She is so supportive of all of us. I didn’t even know she was filming. It’s encouraging to me when the people who have hung around for the novice group are cheering every dog on regardless of what did or didn’t happen in the ring. I need to start doing that on Fridays. We don’t typically run on Sundays so when we are done on Saturday we are packing up to get on the road home since we have so few trials in town.
TY for the videos on skin rolling. I will start doing that. I really don’t have much of a cool down routine. I try to warm them up before we head to the gate area & then while we are there, I continue doing stretches, the find my face game, some rally healing just to keep their attention on me. Yesterday was tall to small & a lab was barking nonstop in the ring which was making Indy nervous. So we went outside, with another team who was outside for the same reason, and we did the find my face game & got Indy happy again. After our runs, they get treats & water & then go back in their crates.

ParticipantI just realized I was sent videos from the floor. These might be easier to see.

I intentionally waited to release him at the start until he was looking at me. 🙂mmcmillan111
ParticipantOops I’m actually looking at my line for FAST. I did go way over the exc/ master line. Oh well.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I was able to read your feedback before our Open runs today. I hope my runs today reflect better timing on cues! After 4 perfect weave runs, he popped them once in JWW & twice in Standard, 🤨.
I wanted to do the excellent/master send in FAST rather then the novice. I think I crossed the line but probably didn’t need to. He read it so well. The novice send was with either end of the tunnel whereas the exc/master line was the far end of the tunnel. I thought I set him up at the beginning for a straight line to the Aframe but he didn’t take it. 🤷🏻♀️
I have to keep reminding myself, he’s a green dog!

The ending on the jumpers run was similar to yesterday & there was no way I was going to do a blind. I decided to do a FC instead.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Indy got to play agility today in Fayetteville. Started out the day with a really nice T2B run. Then ran Open about 7 hours later & got 2 refusals in both runs along with visiting ring crew. The refusal at the Aframe was completely my fault. I didn’t realize how close I was to the Aframe & didn’t get him on it.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Indy is moving up to Open in both Std & JWW! He got a Nov QQQ today! We had a couple of hiccups in standard & his JWW run was FANTASTIC!!! He visited some in FAST so we still need to work on the visiting factor. His JWW run was 10 hours after his FAST run. His standard was was about 5 hours after his FAST run.

ParticipantTY Tracy! I’m so pleased with how well he’s coming along! His next trial is the last weekend of March. He gets this weekend off but is going to get to go to the NAC to walk around. Next weekend is FastCat!

ParticipantIndy got to play agility in a new place today. We went to Fayetteville. He got to watch the large dogs & walk around to see the place. We played the pattern games before both runs. I’m seeing moments of brilliance & then also seeing when he would really like to run around things.
mmcmillan111
ParticipantSo today Indy got to run Premier JWW in additional to both standard & JWW novice classes. I decided to leave out the wrap at jump 3 & go straight to jump 4. He did everything else & I am a proud mommy!
His JWW run, I decided to handle a section with a Fc instead of a BC. Not sure if I out the cross in the wrong place because it got crunchy but he came out clean & did it 23 seconds!
We didn’t run standard until close to 6:00pm & the wheels fell off the bus. However, he nailed the teeter the first time which he struggled with yesterday.
He watches everything outside the ring. He doesn’t care for the doors banging, the gate steward calling out the dog names, or any other loud noise. But he’s hanging in there & working through it running fast with a curly tail.
mmcmillan111
ParticipantWe are at a trial in Blue Springs, Mo this weekend. Indy ran novice FAST & FEO in Premier Standard. He struggled with the teeter in FAST so I wanted to get him on it again in Premier. He found the environment a little overwhelming. Doors slamming, dogs barking, etc. so we were working through that.
In FAST he ran around the tunnel the first time & struggled with the teeter. In Premier we did get the teeter & got all 12 weaves on the 2nd attempt.

ParticipantWe haven’t trialed very much but we did this past Saturday.
A couple of dogs before Indy the wind really kicked up & the roof started popping. Indy was terrified & in full flight mode. When it was time for us to go in the ring he still wasn’t fully calmed down but he still pulled out a nice run, missed a couple of jumps, but nailed the weaves on the first time!
Our second run 30 min later the roof was still popping but he was much calmer and back to snoopervising – checking out the ring crew & the judge! I should have handled the weaves from the other side. I was also super cautious instead of runn8ng calmly myself!
