ParticipantTY Tracy. Our instructor did say we needed to start doing things in class like having people be ring stewards, running with no treats, etc. I used. Toy the first day we trialed FEO. He was interested the first run but not after that so I haven’t taken one in since then.
Unrelated question, my older pug & I are going to compete in the Westminster agility trial. They are having a fly all tournament in the same area. Are you going to be there for either agility or flyball? Would love to meet you in person!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
They are set to unlisted now.
His next trial is in Feb 15th. We aren’t doing League this session. Our classes started back up last night. We worked through some pressure at the weaves & he was able to do six successfully. I will get that video put together & post it.

ParticipantSo I realized I put Jakes JWW run in that video from yesterday. Here’s Indy’s run. 🙂
Safe travels. We are on our way to Florida today & are in rain ourselves. Jake will be competing next weekend. Indy hopes to compete there on the not too distant future!!!

ParticipantA young dog support group would be fantastic!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
What a weekend! Today Indy did FEO on a Premier Standard run and Nov JWW. On the premier standard, I started at the tunnel with the intention of running up the line & then doing the teeter and circle out so about 9 obstacles. He really wanted to do the teeter and altered my plan a little.
On Nov JwW my intention was to skip the weaves & get to the next jump & run the line out. He took the off course tunnel that just about every other dog took too! Ran by the weaves & then we reconnected & got the line out. He didn’t particularly want to leash up after that run. So the mom voice came out. 🙂
He had a great weekend! I thought his confidence grew with every run.
I have so enjoyed the MaxPup classes. I really feel Indy has such a great foundation on him that none of my other dogs ever had. I’m going to miss sending you our videos for review when this class is over!

ParticipantIndy competed in his first trial today!! We had 3 runs & I did FEO on all of them. Started out with T2B. My goal was to do the tunnel & then the jumps to the exit. A little unfocused at first & then he did. It want to be leashed up. 2nd run was FAST & I wanted him to do the teeter. We got there, he dis great, and then leashed up much more quickly. Third run was Nov JWW. Someone brought tuna crack & Indy was call about that. We visited the ring crew a couple of times. I didn’t want to try the weaves so we skipped those. Overall, I think he did really well and got better with each run. We have 2 more tomorrow.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
So we went to a class today where Indy has been before, just a couple of weeks ago, but only outside the ring. So this was his first time in the ring & on this equipment. The course was split into 2 halves & then we ran the full thing.
The first time we went out he was all over the place which is basically what I’m expecting on Friday at our first trial. What should I do when he’s ignoring me checking everything out? I want to have a solid plan! Even if it’s literally sending him over 1 jump & then running out to get his treats. I didn’t have anything in the ring with me on the first run. After the first run I brought out his tug toy with the lotus bee tied to the end. He was better the 2nd time but I didn’t have the camera on wide screen so didn’t get most of it so I just left it out. He did really well when we ran the full course. Except I didn’t handle well after the weaves because of supporting him so much in the weaves.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
The furry lotus I bought doesn’t have a loop on it so that it can be attached to anything. Which is a bummer. I’m looking now at a fur treat pouch that’s attached to a bungee. He did much better tonight with it. He still ran around at first but then was letting me get it to open it up.
Here’s today’s work. We set up another small space for Invitational practice. It took us 17 minutes to do all the reps so I cut it to the first 5 min. I had the treats on a barrel outside the fence. He didn’t want to get leashed up at first but he got better with each rep.
The first sequence I threw the leash & he ran to it. So I stuffed it in my pocket after that. I tried playing with him before taking the leash off to get him amped up. I wasn’t supporting him enough at first but once I got my act together he did really well. 🙂

ParticipantHe LOVES the furry lotus ball I got him. I used it for the first time yesterday. I edited out all the running around he was doing as he played with it, which I totally blame on you btw! 😂. It’s just the lotus ball & not on a string of any kind so I’m not going to be able to use it at the trial. I did take his lotus bee & attached it to a,bungee tug & am trying that for engagement cuter a sequence. It’s not his favorite but he did start playing with me in the practice field. I’m not sure how it will transition to the real thing. I’ll take it to class this week & play with it some more.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I set up an Invitational prep sequence for Jake & Indy got to run it too. He has dreams to compete at Invitationals he just doesn’t know it yet. 😁. I decided to treat this practice as a run through for our first trial which is next weekend. I’m showing bringing Indy into the field on leash & leaving the field on leash & getting our treats off the field. I decided to make putting the leash on a cue o make it a game. I included a couple of our sequences.

ParticipantWe were at a trial this weekend so I took Indy to the quiet end of the arena & worked on taking his leash off & on. We worked some pattern games closer to the action but I didn’t get it filmed.

ParticipantThis is video from tonight’s class. I have snippets because I was the only dog in class tonight & we did a lot. I wanted to show you his engagement walking onto the course, leash off, & arousal, leash back on. I’m thinking I don’t need to do any arousal once the leash is off!!
I loved his engagement with me. We had some running off but he returned quickly & was ready to go! I was giving him food while my instructor & I talked about the things we broke down to work on. When it got to be a bit long, I put his leash back on & he stayed nicely with me by my side.
At the end of the first run there was a line to drive ahead rear crossing a tunnel. We worked on that a bit.
In the standard ring I showed where we started out then cut out all the stuff until we put it all together for the final run. We did do the full size DW but definitely need to keep working the lower height until he’s more comfortable with it.
I will mail an entry tomorrow for our local trial here in Tulsa in December. We will only run FEO.

ParticipantIndy & I worked leash off engagement on tonight since the yard is too wet to do anything. He doesn’t really like the harness going on over his head but he doesn’t seem to mind the leash. Because of that I really want to make sure he doesn’t run away from me at the end of a run. I signed up for the brain camp webinar thinking what I learn there will help with him to not run off.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We have more rain coming overnight so I wanted to get out there & do a few of the driving ahead sequences. I left his tug toy, the treat container & then his lotus ball at the end. He wasn’t really interested in the tug toy. He loves the lotus ball.
The Agility League that Jake is playing in is only running the Senior & PhD level courses. The person who owns the building will be going to Florida for 3 or 4 months in January so I doubt we will be doing the winter term. Indy can continue running the courses for this term when Jake goes to play.

ParticipantWas able to do some sequence work this evening. Since this was mid-course sequencing I went ahead & started with the tunnel. He did so well I started making up other sequences & moved the teeter so he could do that in a sequence. Then we worked weaves which I didn’t include and the DW which I did include. I keep saying Yes then Ok instead of saying Ok then Yes.
