Here’s our work from 07/15/2024. I tried the looking ahead game again. Indy did good. Me, not so much!

    Hi Tracy,

I thought using the outside arm might help him stay on the line to take the jump since he ran by it the first time. Maybe it can be dropped as he gets more experience, should I not be doing that at all, or did it work & should be used? I don’t do it with my older dog, Jake, but I also don’t have a lot of distance with him! No FAST runs for him because he won’t go out very far from me. I’m learning to run Indy very differently from Jake. 🙂

This morning we played the Looking Ahead game. I found that I was crowding the line & moving in towards the jump! It’s hard to stay straight.

Indy & I went out every 30 minutes tonight for about 5 min each time to work more of the exercises in week 2. The last thing we did was go back to continue working the mountain climbers. The teeter is at the same height as our work on July 2nd. Tonight we just ran to the end each time with no lowering and got lots of treats. This is the first time we’ve been back on the teeter since July 2nd.

Indy & I went out for a few minutes and did something. Not sure what but I think it was the Lazy game adding some motion. I’ve tried to watch all the videos from last week & they are running together!

    Hi Tracy,

Here’s tonight’s work. It’s a little long. I showed most of the reps as I worked the teeter moving the bar down the tip assist. I’m using braunschweiger and trying to remember to mush it on the little treat tray. I have 3 more links on the chain at the base of the teeter to reach full height. It will be a couple of more weeks before I get to full height. We are headed to a trial over July 4th weekend for my older dog trying to finish up MACH 2 & qualify for 2025 NAC. So this is the only video this week I will be able to post.

    Hi Tracy,

We have a tip assist that I have been using to train the teeter. I also have your independent teeter class but haven’t got too far in it yet. I started out low & have been adding height. During tonight’s session I raised the teeter itself by one chain link. Are you supposed to leave the teeter at full height & start at full height?

We’ve had the plank on the ground for a while trying to learn where those feet go.

Indy & I worked the Lazy Game & Wingin It tonight. It is pretty hot here & I was being greedy on the wingin it game. I wanted to see how he would respond with his tug toy. I asked him for one too many reps.

    Tracy,

What kind of treats are you using for the Lazy game? Trying to think of something visible & big enough but not too big for a smaller dog!

    Thank you,
    Michelle

Works worked the Starfish this evening. Once I spread the jumps out further Indy seemed to have more fun.

We worked on the SERPs & the tunnel threadles tonight. I forgot to turn on the camera for most of the tunnel work. By the time I remembered to turn it on I think he was tired & getting bored of mommy messing up.

We weren’t very successful with the serp line if he couldn’t see me through the uprights.

We tried the tunnel threadle game again. It just didn’t go well so I didn’t include video. I5 makes sense when I watch the video & then all understanding is lost when actually trying to do it. Idk why. Will try again tomorrow.

I tried to do the tunnel threadle exercise this evening. I didn’t quite have it down & Indy could tell. I think I was really demotivating him.

We worked on the lateral distance changing the approach so that he sliced the jump.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we worked on the Zig Zag. I didn’t feel we were really getting it wbut I thought there was some improvement with this session.

I also thought the tunnel serp work was improved since the last time we tried it. We had some oopsies but overall I thought it was much better.

I love these two games!! I don’t have a lot of lateral distance with my 10 year old guy & am really wanting that with Indy. And to be starting backside work now! Exciting!
