THAT’S why he was turning away! That makes so much sense. I went and tried it again the way you suggested and it was flawless. Thinking about it like a triangle helped, thank you! Would you recommend I keep working it or do we continue moving on and come back if needed?

I defintely missed the rear cross addition, so here is our first try at that! https://youtu.be/Nm16MqtLpPQ

and our first try at the concept tranfer as well. I don’t have any barrels atm but I was thinking I’ll use a wing in our next session. https://youtu.be/i5bMsxXLJ84

This is a few rounds into the turn and burn exercise. I’d say Oakes enjoyed it!

I put this exercise off for too long because I kept forgetting our prop in other places. I finally just introduced a new prop and he seemed to pick it up pretty quickly. This is a few seperate sessions in, I think we are on the right track but wanted to get imput before I keep going!

This feedback helped a ton!! It seems like a bit of an obvious solution, but having the step by step did help me get it right more consistently for him. Thank you!

needing 75 hands is right LOL this was our 2nd session at the advanced stage and I still was getting turned around! I really struggled to get the toy tossed out, so tried just leaving it as a target instead. After watching the video, I wonder if I am moving faster than I need to, esp in the decel turn?

Ok great!! I will try out the turns on the stacked planks and then different positions on the single board (and yes, we did the single plank first before stacking them!).

LOL You are right, he is very motivated and oh so starved! I do love his enthusiasm 🙂 He isn’t familiar with the manners minder, but I can get him introduced. I like both ideas – would you use a cue word to take the cookie from the bowl/MM, or just let him grab it once it is available?

We’ve done the plankrobics games a handful of times now, but my phone kept running out of memory! This is the first time I’ve gotten video.

Something I am not sure how to handle or maybe I shouldn’t worry about it – If I toss a release cookie, there’s a good chance Oakes will fling himself at it pretty hard. I try to set it down in place, but it would be nice if I could drop a cookie without worrying that he’s going to face plant into it or frantically chase it. Is this just his nature or am I doing something to create it?

After watching the video I realized I forgot to reward out in front of him each time, vs to the side or behind. So’ll do that in our next session. I started with the inflateables, took some air out and added a second wedge and some pods. He was all about it, so we moved onto the wobble board with carpet scquares underneath (couldn’t find towels). I think it went well! Should I started adding the noise element or stick with movement for a while longer?

For some reason I found this exercise awkward. I definitely need more practice doing this!

Hi Tracy! For Goat Trick 2 I thought I’d start with a wobble board – we’ve used the inflateble pods and disc in the past for foot targetting, but it’s been a while. He wasn’t as confident as I’d like to see him, so we took a break and I started again with the disc. I still sensed a bit of hesitation so I’ve waited to test things out again until I had a chance to get your imput.

Speaking of food rewards – full disclosure, I only has kibble and paper bowls the day I decided to start wing wrap foundations. It went ok, but was taking forever for him to eat the reward so we took a break and started again with cheese!

When he’d stare at me, I’d try to just look at the bowl, is that ok?

Tugging in between the food rewards is brilliant and working so well!! I noticed the same thing and have spent several sessions just figuring out the food rewards and what “level” gets him where I need him. never even occurred to me to add the toy in to keep that enthusiasm.

    Here’s the decel game:
