    Hi Tracy,

I got up pretty early today to train in my backyard and avoid the heat, I was out there before 7 a.m. and it was already hot and humid 🙁

I had the bars at 20”, I am using the wrap verbal combined with the soft turn verbal and it worked. For me, both the tunnel or the jump after the wrap were a wrap 🙂

    Looking forward to your comments.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Tracy,

Package 1 – STD course 1 & 2 with your advice, I love it!! I need to stop praising him while we are running hahaha. But I am getting better. I do like not wrapping him :-). His DWs were all good except for one that was a bit high, also 1 missed AF, which I am glad he is having these mistakes so that I can teach him better.

I also tried to use different intonations and I think he likes it, he was running very fast at 20” 🙂

    Thanks,

    Nelci

    Hi Tracy, (again 🙂 )

Here are a few videos from this week:

    1) Pack 1 STD course #1:

    2) ESC – Discrimination Prep

    3) ESC – Layering skills. Grizzly had some difficulty with sequence 5-6, with DOR (turning left to right) 🙁

Sorry to send them all together, but I did not have time until now.

    Thanks!!

    Hi Tracy,

    Great feedback. Thanks!!!

About the WP and the wing, don’t worry about the picture, Linda knew how to set it up and we did this morning on Pack 1 STD course #1 with the wing, and Grizzly had no trouble with it, I didn’t even do a “practice to let him see it”, I just went and did it on the course 🙂

So your suggestion is to not wrap him on the back sides but slice him regardless of the “distance”? I agree with you he slows down on those back side wraps, and he may be faster on the slicing regardless that it looks like more strides. I will try tomorrow.

The “break” after the seesaw, yes, it is WIP, I still need to get used to releasing him with the next command instead of the “break” and he also needs to get used to it :-).

    Enjoy your trip!!

    Nelci

I also did some RDW this morning before Linda got to the site, and the reps helped him to stride it better.

    Hi Tracy,

STD Course #2, I just remembered I also have a verbal for a situation like 16-17-18 = Fufu (Argh, and I am just creating the list but I have not completed it).

I am also still practicing on the changing the verbal sounds, but I could not think about it on the big course, I even forgot what verbals I needed to use hahaha.

More videos on package two coming tomorrow 😉

    Thanks!!

Hi Tracy, so better than I thought 🙂 Thanks for your comments, I need to really work hard on the “.. keep your verbals sounding more different in terms of rhythm, pitch, length, etc.” I need to practice them and determine what I am going to say now, meaning before I continue training with him. Let’s see what I can come up and feel comfortable with.

Also, I wanted to discuss with you the turn commands, I have noticed that even when there is a soft turn he responds better when I give him a verbal, maybe I can “add” another verbal, for example I am thinking for a soft turn I can say left (or right) and for a harder turn say “lefty” (or righty). Thoughts?

    Hi Tracy,

I analyzed your comments on the second attempt at the Jumpers course. I am soooo late at thinking about “solutions” to problems, I am one of those persons that a few days later I go “Ahhh! That is why … “ or “Ahhh! I should have …” Soooo, I just realized that Grizzly has a verbal command for a treadle such as in the black circle course from 10-11. I say “hoap”. I am pretty sure that if I had used it I would have not needed to rotate as much as I did!! Oh well, I am just like my digestive system, very slow to process hahaha

One good thing I am noticing, is that I am able to feel when I disconnect and cause a problem in course more that I used to. So progress 🙂

Now about the “Live Class 1”. I am not sure if I set up the course too tight, I have more room in the backyard to make it bigger, so I am not sure what is better for me and Grizzly at this time. As I mentioned in my prior note, I do better with him in UKI than in AKC, I really don’t like the “close quarters” that we have to run in AKC, and that is why I refused to do Premier with Grizzly in AKC.

Back to the Live Class 1 😉 I struggle with the first course, but not with #2 (not on video since I forgot to turn on the video) or #3. Then I tried to combined #1 & #3 and I also failed (I thought it will be a good idea). So be patient, this one is not as fun to review ha!

    Thanks,

    Nelci

Hi Tracy, quick question, can we submit videos for the “Live Class” courses. I did it this morning, and I was having problems with the 1st sequence. I set them up closer together in my backyard, trying to resemble AKC, since I have more of a hard time with AKC courses than with UKI courses (sigh).

Hi Tracy, second take trying to apply your advice. All went well and he was great. The only one I couldn’t do was on the White circles course the BC between 18-19. I kept looking at him coming out of the tunnel and the easiest rotation was the FC, it was like I could not take my eyes off him hahaha. I had a lot of fun with this one!! (Less limping also).

    Thanks!!!

    Hi Tracy,

Here is our attempt at the Jumpers course. A few notes before you see the video, my knee is still not 100%, you’ll see me limping towards the end 🙁 and my stride has also changed, it is very short and I am still favoring my right knee. I hope it gets better and I can run better soon, but right now it is what it is. At least I am trying to run 🙂

Second and last, the second course (black circles), was very hard for me to remember. I need to be more diligent at feeling confident with the course before I run it. I felt a bit rushed and I did not have a good handle of the course. So it is in pieces.

The course was also set up in a large field and we kind of use the entire space, maybe be good may not be good, ha!!

Linda and I are going to try to repeat the sequences next Monday after we get your comments.

    That’s it, enjoy 😉

Hi Tracy, I am planning on having two different verbals one for the backside slice and one the backside wrap, I have not started training the back side wrap, so yes, thanks for the reminder of the toy/reward position. I thought about it mid way through this training. Thanks for all your help and feedback on this class!!!

Hi Tracy, last video for this class, I did a few more threadles with one jump so not to bend too much 🙂 And I did the serp sequence with the 3 jumps. We had a few breaks during this session. Looking forward to your comments!

Hi Tracy, here is the Front Cross To The Other Side Of The Tunnel, my camera shut down on its own, so I thought I had not pressed the record button so I did the sequence with the FCs again. Not recorded was a short session where I rewarded for the BCs. Looking forward to your comments.

Hi Tracy, here is my threadle exercise with 1 and 2 jumps. When doing the two jump exercise I mixed in the threadle and the back side.

You will laugh since when I was doing the 2 jumps and the threadle, at first, I did not know what to do with my feet hahaha but them I think I got it. Looking forward to your feedback.

Hi Tracy, yes that is right, that is how I have started it, I have not done much of it, but I will show you before I do the exercise with more than one jump. Thanks!!!
