ParticipantGreat feedback!
Foot target: I will use his reward marker for tossed treats that he can follow.
Hand Target: Yes, he was offering a “backup”. I see how my direct eye contact with him encouraged this. I will keep “my eye on the target”.Should I repeat these exercises using your feedback or incorporate your feedback in upcoming assignment?
Thank you, Tracy!

ParticipantNo. She vocalizes in her crate (not this loud) if I take my other dog out to run. If she gets loud, I cover the crate. In agility I have treats and am doing connection hand touches and such outside the ring. Once in the ring, I lose focus. In class, she sometimes is very interested when other dogs are working.

ParticipantFound one of her in line for dock diving. I don’t typically stand in line with her. I wait as close to our turn and I can. This is the type vocation that is common with this breed. I am referring to the sound and not the situation. Hope that makes sense.

ParticipantWhen was that trial? How old was Tess?
The Agility trial was in April of 2021 and Tess turned 2 the same month. I think other dogs running and vocalizing are a trigger for Tess.Tess vocalizes while waiting for her turn in both Dock Diving and Fast Cat.

ParticipantBelow is a video of Tess in the Rally ring at 10 months and right before the Covid shelter in place. The next video is of Tess in our first trial (AKC Novice Jumpers). We were entered in 3 events and during all 3 runs Tess took off and came back. One of those 3 times she ran toward a dog and handler walking next to the ring. I believe if she could have easily gotten over the ring fencing, she would have left the ring. We are obviously not ready to trial and have not done so since this trial in April of this year.
Tess has gone on to earn her novice and intermediate rally titles. She has done Fast Cast and competes in Dock Diving.

Participant“You can raise the value of the tunnel in this context by starting her closer to the tunnel, and on your side (and you can even give her a little step/send to it) and do a bunch of tunnels in a row for lots of reward, with the crate present”
Great idea. Tess us a foodie. I will be sure to use a high value reward.“You can also play with giving the cues in slightly different tones, for now: the tunnel cue can be louder and more exciting, and her crate cue (I think you were saying ‘go home’) can be calmer and softer.”
Wouldn’t of thought of this! -
