ParticipantHi Bobbie
Here is video of Superbpwls with two jumps we discussed in the group session. I have practiced superbowls in class and at a seminar this past weekend.
Here are two video clips from a seminar. In our first time out, Buoy left a few times and came back. However I think I could have handled it better. Your thoughts? Overall, He was excellent working at the seminar.
And yes, I have 2x2s.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Bobbie
In response to your question about weaves, yes, I would like to work on them with you.
Here’s our first two tries with Super bowls.
Inside, two bowls
Outside, three bowls
I continue to work on remote reinforcement outside.
Thanks.

Weaves: We are always working on weaves, LOL. In the T2B run, I thought of it as practice and sent him to weaves to see if he could process the cue in that environment. I didn’t care if he got them or not but hoped he would have at least made an attempt.Buoy’s contact criteria for the Aframe and DW are 2 on/2 off; for teeter it is stay on with all four paws. They are solid in class.
Frantic: Whenever he blows his contacts and doesn’t even try to stop, I consider him to be frantic. Also, when he blindly runs away, I feel like he’s just trying to escape and consider that frantic. When he runs to ting crew as well.
Perhaps I am reading this behavior incorrectly. What do you see when he does this (outside of my mishandling)?
We had three runs in one day. As mentioned previously, he deteriorates with each run.
I live on Long Island so all my trialing is far away. I will try to find UKI and USDAA trials.
I will pull out the Superbowls games from the last session.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Bobbie
I went to an agility trial this past weekend. We had three runs EX JWW, T2B and Standard Open. I’ve noticed for some time that when we trial, Buoy gets worse with each run.In all three runs, he ran to ring crew and never held his contacts.
Our first run was the Ex JWW and I was very happy with his performance, we did not attempt weaves, he missed jumps but I did not correct and kept going. He left me once and came right back. I asked my friend to make sure she taped until I left the ring. I realized that I did not cue “pick up” until after he was in my arms.
For the T2B run, my plan was to go part way around the course and to practice weaves and get out. He left me and came back when I called but he was frantic and just wanted out so I didn’t push it and left.
Our third run, Open Standard was really disappointing for me because at the very beginning, he put his head right down and kept sniffing. He’s not done that at the beginning of a run. Unfortunately, I did not have anyone to video and had to rely on the livestream. It does not show that part on video. He left me three times and while he did come back, he was frantic. I also had my tripod set up but it only shows a piece of the run and does have sound. I admit my frustration with this run.

Here is videos of remote reinforcement in the house from a greater distance and outside.https://youtube.com/shorts/ZLuCTF-vCU0?feature=share
He seems to just be starting to understand what “pickle” means, I think. I’ve also noticed that when we tug, it takes him longer to release the toy (just an observation).

ParticipantThe videos from my remote reinforcement are posted in the thread above this dated February 25th.
Posted here are two attempts at working with the harness. Sounded so simple but my lack of coordination showed up. I tried it sitting on the floor and standing. He never paid any attention to the harness and stared at my hand with treats. I even tried switching hands behind my back. He kept offering behaviors even when I dangled the harness in from of him. LOL

ParticipantHi Bobbie
I’ve been working on remote reinforcement, pick up and putting on leash in new location. In agility class I practiced picking him up while talking to instructor and creating situations where I deliberately make mistakes. I am only posting videos from picking up and then putting leash on in new location because posting everything I want you to see would put me over the three minute mark.
I am surprised that moving my location by about five feet caused him to say “no way.”

ParticipantHi Bobbbie
I missed class this week but rented the ring and practiced bits and pieces.Putting on harness at home
1-2-3 game
Also, he missed a jump that is out of camera range and I just kept goingWeave entries and collar grab
He got distracted but I did not make a big deal out of it. We had been practicing the table before this part of the video.Practicing “pick up”
Looking forward to hearing your observations. Thanks.

ParticipantHi Bobbie
You are correct that Buoy doesn’t like being picked up but he is getting better. I try to remember to cue it with “pick up” before I lift him up and then I treat him. Right right when I am in the kitchen, he jumps on me to pick him up to get a cookie but it’s only in the kitchen.I have three short videos. The first is from class where we put gates around the weave poles to help him collect. He had a good time and kept running back to me. It was an eight minute session and he stayed engaged the whole time. I tried to keep my ROR high even when instructor was talking to me.
The second video is at the Fieldhouse for run thrus. There were six dogs in our group, 5 paps and a pug puppy. In the first video he missed the tunnel so I just sent him back in and he was ok. He tried to stop at the Aframe which is good.
The third video we worked on weaves and had three dogs in the ring at once. He struggled with the entry when I was in the wrong position and at one point wasn’t sure about coming back to me so I just sent him again trying not to put pressure on him and he got it. He also held his DW contact.
I look forward to hearing your observations.
Thanks.

ParticipantResponses:
Video 1: This was after “no emotion”
Video 2: I just didn’t think to give him the toy.
Video 3: Thank you.
Video 4: Yes there are three steps so will give three treats.
Video 5: Not sure why he was panting, he may have been humping his toy, a very large stuffed Lambchop. 😏
Buoy actually has a strong hand touch, except when I put the harness on. He always swings by my hand in a clockwise rotation. It’s something I inadvertently shaped. Will change it to a solid hand touch and treat.
I am going to the Fieldhouse in CT on Saturday for run thrus. I will post video afterwards.
