We were lucky to join Josie and Winnie in a little AU session ….

I didn’t feel like Demi was ready for any coursework yet, so we broke things down. On the first sequence I was disappointed that I couldn’t get the turn. My FC was super icky, and I couldn’t get her to take the jump while I did the blind. I will def be working on the “commitment” skill set!

You can hear our “go” discussion relative to the tunnel to the jump. What do you think? Obviously I think it is a go go go, but we are not all in agreement.

In the second video, I tried Wilson in the master stuff. I really tried to be conscious of my verbals and their timing. When I reviewed the video, I was discouraged to see how much wilson was slipping and falling. Mostly I was mad bc I didn’t notice this until I saw the video. So much for the connection I thought I had! What’s up with that? What am I doing wrong?

    Skills set 5.

Rep 1: Trying to solidify the correct verbals. Lack of connection caused the miss in the back side.

Rep 2: I tried to show decel on 2, but she was going so slow already, that was kinda a mute point. On the backside, she got it, but I was looking at her path, not her. That is a challenge for me.

I’m noticing on my blinds I’m not picking her up very well with my eyes on the other side. She is getting them for now, but I imagine this could bite me I. The future.

    Skill set 8.

Rep 1: Tried to show decel again. Despite the fact that she’s not coming off the start on e fast (it is getting hot),I think it’s good she’s seeing that cue, right?

Rep 2: I pulled her right off. Should have been “dig”. Not “here”. Then I messed myself up when I threw a blind in there. 🤷🏻‍♀️ not a good sequence!

Yes, I have the same verbals, but they are very weak. The weren’t emphasized as much when Wilson was growing up, so I’m pretty much playing catch up with Will too.

I walk, but obviously need to do better. ie rehearse those verbals.

First rep on skill set, recognizing that Demi is still training that move (I don’t know names), I should have rewarded with the toy sooner. She needed that reinforcement.

On rep 4 and 5, I’m using “go” wrong. It used to be my word for almost everything 😬, and it just spills out too often.

On the sequence #1 despite the fact that we got obstacle 3, I worried that “here” would bring her in, but at the same time I was trying to call her off #6.

Upon review, I’m hearing “go” too often and “dig” inappropriately. gotta work that out.

I’m loving how Demi responds to my eye contact so well.. she’s really forcing me to think about that. Obstacle commitment is getting stronger!

    A few thoughts …
Rep 1: I had great connection with the jump, and blocked the wing.
Reps 2&3: wing blocking again. Repetitive “push” sounds nagging. Maybe 2 times would be sufficient.

On the next set of reps, I was I supposed to handle the same way on both sides, or set up on the same side and show the different ways of handling it depending on the exit side. I did the latter.

So on one where she was turning left, dog on left, I used a RC. Initially we got all messed up bc I got to the jump first and had to wait. Stepping back and running with her, I was pleased with how she read the cross.

We tried the serp with the zig zag. It worked well. In the beginning I had pretty Large angles, and reduced them a bit straighter in the last few reps.

I think I’m caught in a serp vortex! Is this class over now?

And …. talk to me about CAMP. I have a not-too-large space, 5 jumps, a tunnel, weaves and a teeter. What do you think? What can we do for Demi?

Arrghhh! This serp stuff is hard!

I actually think she did a little better. When she started on the left, she was weaker. I tried to throw or drop the toy where she needed to go. I tried to make it easier on her. I don’t think there was A great deal of understanding here.

One jump. Toy on ground. No motion and walking…

    Oh boy … serps.

I thought one jump went well. So I added a second jump. Not so good, so I quit, reviewed my videos, and tried it again later.

In my morning session, I don’t think I was looking back and at my hand – I was looking at her. I tried to change that later.

Our 5:30 performance wasn’t any better. I believe she is actually weaving the jumps. Thinking about it, I must look exactly the same to her as I do when she weaves … chest open, near arm back and low, feet pointing forward. Is that right?

She did get it once, but I got nervous and quit. Hopefully with some feedback we can get it.

I think I led out too far. I didn’t give myself enough space to split the line into thirds.

I forgot my verbals in the beginning. When I did remember, are “go” and “dig” happening too close together? She barely has time to process, let alone collect.

Im so happy with her attitude and growing confidence. 🙂

    >>>>So did you have to give yourself any time outs from electronics? LOL!
I received 2 penalties. One was time out from electronics, one was picking up shit in the backyard. My wonderful husband typically does that, and he was certainly lovin you that day!!

    >>>Also, she really likes the ball as part of this game. Super high value rewards. Yay!
The tennis ball is Wilson’s fav. I tried it early on with Demi and she hated it. I never went back. Guess I should have! It has been awesome in weave training.

    >>>>you are bending over a lot and I think that is slowing down your running.
I will try to address this. I have always done it, and it bothers me. Time for a change.

So time out from electronics …. yikes!!! I’m on it.

    Thank you 😊

It’s interesting how much I would change when I review my videos. Makes a case for videoing whether for class or not.

I have no clue what my arms are doing up in the air and waving all around. 😬 I tried this exercise a few times this weekend. We struggled to get obstacle 4 each time. I tried throwing the toy for her before she got to the jump, and that helped a little. As always I struggle with timing. Omg – need to stop the drama when we don’t get something. She easily shuts down.

I’m almost too embarrassed to submit this. I know I’ve probably sent worse though ….

For some reason, I just can’t seem to do a FC!! (Maybe it’s because I rarely do them.) So this evening, I was doing some sort of reverse spin – I never even changed sides!! Senior moment … please move along to the BCs.

I tried to stay connected better. Bringing my outside arm around to meet her is challenging for me, but I think I improved a little.
