    Hi,
For the resilience homework, I ran into an interesting challenge just prior to Cynosports. My confident stand on 2 legs and wiggle like crazy at the end of the leash at any person and friendly but not overly exuberant to other dogs pup started being hesitant/fearful outside. Same old can I drag you to the person inside response (crowded or not, work, training building, new agility trial, Cynosports, store, etc) but a next to me stand, stare, and maybe bark to people and dogs appearing outside. That behavior is more pronounced as it gets dark. We have been working on it and it is substantially better but not completely gone.
She is neutral to noise (including outside), ignores cars, mild overstimulation to bikes/joggers, overstimulation to fast running/barking dogs.
She loves to sniff outside, will chew/lick objects although with less enthusiasm as the distractions increase, and does like proximity to me when hesitant.

Here is video from work on motivated stay.

And a tiny snippet of restrained recalls from Thurs night puppy class. A friend was juggling a puppy and the camera so quality isn’t great.

Hi, thanks for the additional info on shaping. I’ll give the chair a try. For the toy races, yes the footing was better at the other building (turf). I teach an agility class 1 morning a week on Mats. For Pippin (the BC you’ve teamed with), I limit work there to obedience, contacts, and foundation skills with bar no more than 8in. I will do the same with her. My terrier doesn’t slip as much, so can do more on that floor.
    To summarize:
    Tease for less time
    Add distance
    Add the word go

If she thinks about running off with the toy, I take off in the the other direction and she comes flying to me. Is that okay?

    Hi,
Below is our video of race to toy. This is a game we have played before, but never in this location. When We played it Wednesday night in a different place I couldn’t beat her. I do have a couple of questions.
    1. When I steal the toy if I hold it high she goes launching in the air (2-3 feet is not uncommon) she will also sometimes grab clothing. I’ve been trying to tease her low, is this okay? It seems safer and avoids behavior I don’t want to build.
    2. The second time she beat me and put teeth on toy but when I grabbed it I pulled it out of her mouth. I just continued play with her as she met criteria of beat me to tug, is that okay?

    Hi,
Lanna is the smallest female from the Gravy’s Mixins litter. Mom is from Emily Hurt’s agility lines (but not owned by her) and dad is a Georgia farm dog. Her Embark is roughly 2/3 BC, 20% rat terrier, and a few percent of Germ Shep, Am Bulldog, Chow, and Rott. In person she looks like a small BC and acts like a border rat.
In response to the above, the sessions are posted sequentially with the “goal” to shape a wave. I was trying in the first video to reward high to try to get lift on the foot as she had decided I wanted her to move it forward and left vs up. I wonder if the jump on me was the start of the frustration behavior as I do see that as a frustration behavior that does sometimes pop up. In the second video I decided to go the more traditional route of shaping a shake then clicking early to get the wave. I you have any thoughts on how to get the lift from route one, I would be curious from a skills standpoint. I will work to improve clarity and splitting to minimize frustration. So far she doesn’t tend to bark and run, but she is really only just now finding her voice.

Hi, I posted 2 snippets of shaping a trick from different approaches. The first resulted in a new behavior – barking (which I hate). The second is the next more successful session later.
