ParticipantHi,
Sadly 14 isn’t full height, she will ultimately jump 16in. I have been lowering jumps in new environments to 12in so it was her first time back at 14 in a few weeks (it didn’t occur to me that was true till now). We had a private with Shane Miller and one with Emily Klarmen during our trip.
Other fact is this is actually wider spacing on the pinwheel than I can usually make happen – jumps are about 20ft as compared to 18 or a little less depending on available space. I can do 20 ft plus at the barn, but she still isn’t driving quite as hard there.
So on the far pinwheel jump you would do 10in inside 14 outside? Then you would move a little slower around the sequence and speed up as she gains comfort?
She is a little more confident left than right. I have been trying to do more right than left, but should I start with a rep or 2 to the left then switch right?
Looking for to seeing you in Muncie 🙂

ParticipantHi, we are finally back home and starting up. Here are Exercises 1 and 2. I only included the 2 runs with missed jumps to the right. The next 2 runs to the right were much better. I have started (past few weeks) to lose some jumps wide instead of inside. The tunnel was a new touch :). Mostly it happens when there are distractions but today was about as distraction free an environment as exists. Any thoughts. I have been mostly ignoring and rewarding when she gets back on the line.

ParticipantStill at my parents but we are hopefully starting the trek home tomorrow. I attached some video of exit line connection work. Don’t be fooled by the seemingly bare lawn, poor execution will yield a U-turn Short of the lawn ornament or a wrong course at the squirrel trees on the right or a wrap on the flower pot on the left 🙂

ParticipantThanks, we will do some lazy game work at the barn. Thank you so much for all your help. We had fun and learned a ton. See you at Teresa’s.

ParticipantHi,
Here are 2 of the short sequences. On the first I edited out the skill work on the rear cross. She needs that cue much earlier than Pippin.
Here is a second sequence. First and last try.
And finally some back side after tunnel work.
I originally wasn’t going to post these, but there is some really stuff. These are the other 2 courses from week 4. I don’t have corresponding walk through video (it was very hot and I was very tired). This was done prior to feedback about increasing reward rate. I promise to do better moving forward.
She was very concerned about staying by the tractor.
I think this should be everything from the course. Thanks so very much.

ParticipantHi,
We have continued to work on the last week’s exercises. Just can’t seem to find a spare minute to download and post. Here is course 2. I’ll try to get the rest of the videos up in the next day. If only work wasn’t quite so crazy :).And a little skill set work.

ParticipantHi,
We got this done prior to leaving for my mom’s. I only now had time to post it. Here is short sequence 3. Not as smooth as short sequence 1. We have worked the take the jump exercise on the threadle and got the jump but had trouble with the in. I then consistently overhandled the in during the short sequence and lost the take the jump. Clearly it is a concept that needs more work 😉Lisa

ParticipantHi,
My goal is to keep plugging along with her. Pip makes it easy and makes me look good, but I’m here to learn not look good :). Here is the short sequence which went much, much better. You can’t see the start with the camera but the rest of the course is there. I’ll just break things down as needed in the barn till we get it together.Lisa Polazzi
ParticipantHi,
First, here is the missing video from last week.Second, I did the walk thru with course first as it is my only chance for the next 2 weeks. My mother is ill (nonCOVID) and I am heading to Colorado Monday to be with my parents.
I think we did a nice job of proving:
1. We are more Mulligan ready than course ready 🙂
2. Fallen bird nests are more exciting than agility
3. 15 obstacles without rewarding at the barn is still a bit too hard
We did go back and work the start separately and got a beautiful line with a timely blind.

ParticipantHi,
So here are snippets of work on drive to tunnel without connection. I keep losing the jump after the wing wrap. With a sit stay I think it is looking better. I can’t figure out how to convince her to take the first jump off the wrap without sig connection. Here is some work on default to jump backside. The default to jump serpentine actually looked really nice so I just posted the backside work we struggled a bit with.

ParticipantHi,
So here are our attempts at course 3. This course exploded the puppy brain pretty successfully. The slingshot start is actually how I ran Pippin through the course and with his skills I got the blind cross 3 to 4. Obviously Lanna has a ways to go to be that good :).Lisa

ParticipantHi,
First 2 videos it may have been 127F (ok probably not but it felt like it). It was at least 10 degrees cooler the next week in the barn.
On the last video of the short sequence she literally pinged off my leg. One of these days I’ll leave early enough :).
Here is skill set exercise 1 – first 2 and last 2 reps. No dogs or humans were injured in the completion of these videos 🙂
Oh, and probably going from a 4 ft to 5ft bar made this a bit harder but center bar was a straight line with the tunnel.Lisa

ParticipantHi,
I finally have a little time to catch up. First 2 videos are from course work from a week ago Tues. It was really hot so we worked pieces of the coursework. The one gap in the video, I started to lead out and realized I needed to fix the tunnel.Lanna burned her pads Saturday playing with a friend’s dog. Fortunately Tues she was back up and running, but we’ve taken some extra time off this week.
Here’s this week’s coursework:
Finally yesterday’s short sequence work. I only did the first 2 sequences once as they went well. Yes she was a bit sassy on the first run. I don’t think she approves of the take it easy plan 🙂
I am now finally caught up posting video. Hopefully I can stay that way :).

ParticipantHi,
We survived the 4th of July at work and I am now awake enough to be somewhat coherent so time to post some videos from the week.First up:
Back side blind work. The part that is cut out is her cutting behind me whether I signaled it or not :). We did some run straight dog on left to fix that. Here is another try at short sequence 2. We still got 2 reps the wrong direction which I think is where my foot is pointing (I could feel it but took a couple tries to fix it). By the end I though it looked better although it still needs work.

ParticipantHi,
Here are short sequence 1 and 2. One went great. 2, well I decided when she bit me it was time to take a break and reassess :). She was determined to wrap away and when I really tried to get the wrap toward me she stopped taking the jump.Lisa
