ParticipantHi,
I’m finally getting the last videos posted. Here’s running contacts sending away. I have to be careful how I send away or I get some mix up with flyball even though it is a different mat and different picture on the turn. I’m not worried as it will look less and less alike the further we get. Here is the wing wrap blind. It has taken a lot of work for me to get it with dog. She, of course, is brilliant :).
And here it is with slices. I’m not quite ready for double blinds (I need this a little more firmly in my head first).

ParticipantHi,
Currently flyball time is for improving our restrained recall feelings :). My friend is excellent at splitting this skill into bits so I have no doubt that will be back on track in no time. My team fell apart several years ago, so although I’m teaching both my terrier and her I don’t know if tournaments will be an option. I just really love the foundation skills to build a well rounded sport dog. Here is our video of rear cross foundation. I must admit after being awake for almost 24 hours prior to reading, watching, and doing, I may not have fully “got” the exercise. If it is all wrong, we’ll try again :).

ParticipantHi,
We have been working on targeting from side and that is going well (and easier for me). Attached are the 2 teeter exercises. Please ignore the flyball box turn joke. She is obviously way too young to have a box turn (or to train a box turn).Lisa

ParticipantHi,
This wasn’t one of my best sessions technically, but she is definitely figuring it out in spite of me. This was our third session and clearly I needed a new piece of duct tape. I know in trying to reward multiple times in a row for the nose touch, I caught myself rewarding after the head went up.Lisa

ParticipantAck!!! Sorry. I didn’t catch that you tube grabbed the wrong video. Here is the correct one 🙂

ParticipantHi,
I did some plank work elevated with a sit stay and a toy in a lower distraction environment. It worked well. I have started using step/flip as right/left. The bigger question is can I think fast enough to use them as left/right 🙂Here is mat work with the MM. It was our second session with this random mat square. I am sorry I pulled it just out of view when I backed it up. I thought it was interesting she started interacting with other objects when I moved. When she went out of screen she was on a different platform. We seem to be over MM is scary.

ParticipantHi,
The issue with restraint on the restrained recall is new. Until now she has been a big fan of all things restrained recalls, but I will go back and work the early steps to improve enthusiasm. As that just popped up this week it may have some hormonal influence. Or it may be that I’ve slacked off the recalls and just need to revisit it. I’ll use a stay for now on the plank.
I have always used step – wrap toward and flip- wrap away. I could change that step wrap right, flip wrap left if that makes more sense. Decisions, decisions, sigh.
I saw maxPup 3&4 are now open for sign up. Lanna will be 10 month the day 3 starts and 1yr 5 days after 4 starts. She is much more muscled and co-ordinated than my BC was at this age. I’m not x-raying growth plates till a year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s done growing. I just want to make sure the exercises will be appropriate before signing up for a working spot.

ParticipantHi,
Here are some videos of the plank and wing wraps. She has been a bit squirrelly and distracted between being in the barn and being in heat so I stuck with food. Tug just seems to be too hard in this environment right now. Once her hormones stabilize, I’ll go back to tug at the barn. Please note the cows watching in the background. They do seem fascinated with dogs.Plank recalls
Wing wraps version 1
Wing wraps version 2 – I hope I am doing these correctly. I had some trouble visualizing this one even after watching the video.

ParticipantHi,
Good to know I don’t have to worry about the paw touch. I’m getting a combo nose/right paw touch currently so I’ll just go with it.
The pill bug games have been a challenge for me. Fortunately Pippin offered to train me, so with several attempts I think Lanna and I are getting the hang of it. I have decided to subtitle it – what to do with your old chute barrel :). She was a bit distracted at first. Her favorite human in the whole world except maybe me was taping. Also a bit of mat running contact work. The desensitization to the MM is going well. She is already looking and trotting to it, but I want a bit more enthusiasm before using it as a reinforcer.
Hope you like the zebra print pants Lanna is sporting. If you have to wear pants, may as well look hot at the same time.

ParticipantHi,
In the 4 on We are working on transitioning to a duct tape target. It is going well, but I am having to go slowly as she wants to add a paw touch as it lowers. It is for teeter only.On the running we have put some work into touching target with all 4 feet running back and forth for both flyball and running contacts over the past few months. I dusted off the manners minder, but it is taking a little time for her to decide it’s okay. She just went into heat and has been a bit distracted and squirrelly the past few days. Once she decides it’s wonderful, I’ll add it to the picture. The terrier thought showing his sister how wonderful it is was a great idea.

ParticipantHi,
Here are a few more of the exercises. I may catch up yet :). The wing wraps are coming along. I know she slipped once. The turf we are practicing on is better than most of the turf Pippin competes on, sigh.We are still struggling with the target for 4 on. Some of it is my technique so any tips are appreciated.
This is from the end of the second to last session.
This is from the last session.

ParticipantHi,
I know the mats are a rotten surface. Unfortunately sometimes it falls under the better than nothing category. I do limit the running on them. Here are exercises on a much better surface :). I apologize for the quality on the toy race video. I think you can still see what you need. The second toy wound up just off screen. She decided the low value toy was actually the high value one so I switched toys after the first one. Here is teeter work:

Here are the initial pill bug games and the start of the foundations rear cross work.Pill Bug

I have a few days off at home next week, so maybe I can actually start to catch up :).

ParticipantHi,
Her distraction level (as long as we stick to walk thrus) is similar to at home. Mostly good with occasional moments of teenage puppy. Once a dog is running we need a lot more distance :). We did work stays too. Here is a very short clip. Now that we’re home here is a video of the beginning plank work. We had some distraction issues our first night back with the tugging so saved some of the other exercises for another day.

ParticipantHi,
We’ve been visiting friends and at an agility trial with my old dog, so haven’t done much towards the class, but here are a few wraps at the practice jump. I kept the distance close as this adds a lot of distraction :). You can see people walking the course in the background and the practice jump isn’t fenced.Lisa
