ParticipantHI Tracy,
After looking at that FAST video from last week it makes so much sense. When I am working with Mira and distance I will just stay back further from the send line. I can definitely see where I shortened my stride and brought her into me. Thank you so much for that info. I will set this up and practice being further out–but what a great insight!
I am sending these videos of Extreme Front Cross and I think we are nearing the end of out time together. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all that you have done for me during this class and I will definitely not forget it.
If you have any recommendations as to what I should enroll in next in terms of your courses I am all ears.
Again thank you so much!

ParticipantHI Tracy,
I had a fun weekend trialing in Mn and in FAST I sent Mira out in a Get Out with Extreme Connection and she came into me and then took the jump and took it down and face planted. She is fine and I had her to the chiropractor since then and I am trying to understand what happened. I think she came into me first of all and then turned back toward the jump and it looked like she was boot scooting (Like Labs in particular love to do). She took the jump out and face planted. I may have taken my eyes off her in regular connection and it threw her but it was a great learning experience. I thought you would like to see it.
The following videos are of Extreme Connection with Deliberate Disconnection on a back side. I couldn’t believe how well this worked in conjunction with my verbal cues. Its a ton of fun and Im using with my students too.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Great feedback- I’m adding it to my repertoire little by little. In this next videos, We’re mixing up Disconnection with Exit Line and Regular Connection with a wing jump so we can get more speed.
This was where I really could see the difficulty in the right side A La La or backside S Curve. I also took my eyes off Mira when I was going to do the regular line and she just went around the jump. I look a bit perplexed but then we repeat the exercise and we get it.
Thank you

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I don’t use a lot of arms for anything but I’m game to try and train it. I have to watch your videos again but I’m Extreme Connection I’m. It sure where to put my arm- does that sound weird😉
In this next videos, I am working on Deliberate Disconnection. My backside is S Curve is called an A La La but you are so right- it is imperative the dog know the foundation exercise you are asking of them before putting the demands of the connection on them as well. Left side A La La was really easy – the right one – I have to step in farther to help Mira execute the backside S Curve.
Also, I need to know how to throw a toy😂. I’m using it because I think it’s clearer to Mira but she’s a food pig , so toys are just so-so for her.
Lastly, I had to really think about regular and Exit Connection as well.
Thank you

ParticipantHI Tracy,
I am finding that I have to work to not forget regular connection as I am doing these exercises. Its getting easier as I do them and I am really sold as to their importance. I am also finding that I can hold regular connection longer on an actual course. I know it should be ALL of the time but its not as easy to execute when you have all of the emotions in the way as well.
In the following exercises, I have Extreme Connection–the wing with the regular and exit connection and then the Extreme Connection with the side jump. I have a line down as well so I dont go over it. I found that to be very helpful. I also have to say that I was amazed at how she read it. Kind of blew me away to be honest:)
Im working again to keep my other connections —Regular—Exit and then go to Extreme.
Thank you

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I’m at an agility trial in Minnetonka Mn. (Fusion) I have the next set of Shifting Connection Turnaways including threadles. All I can say is this stuff works! The more I’m able to maintain a connection with Mira in course, the easier my handling and our runs become and the more confident I’m getting on course.
When I look at the videos I know I could send her a lot further and I’m going to work on it this week. I know I’m a bit behind but I’d rather do it right then rush to catch up.
When I get home on Monday morning I will do Extreme Connection.
Thank you

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Im back! 🙂 I have to give some major kudos to you for all that I have learned in this Connection class thus far. I have used it in my runs (I know thats the purpose) but I have found its hard to execute what you have learned and many times people take in new information they never use. That is not me. It really makes a difference in Mira’s speed and I think her confidence.
In these two videos, I am doing Shifting Connection Turn-Aways. One is to the right and the other to the left. I know my hands look like Im starting an 80’s dance as I try to shift focus but I didnt need it.
One of the videos has verbals and the other doesn’t. I found it interesting I didnt need them but I think it just helped Mira’s confidence that she was indeed correct.
Thank you

ParticipantHI Tracy,
Here is the other video as I posted the first video above twice.

ParticipantHI Tracy,
These are the next two videos with the counter motion and send around the exit line. I see what you mean about my arm being up to help her with the extension away from me on counter motion. It is difficult for me because I was taught to use little to no arms with agility. You know—the airplane arms you see handlers use. I am the other way and use almost no arms–but I can see how useful it is so I will extend my arm out and keep it out longer on this send.
Thank you
Penny and Mira
If there is anything you think I should be really concentrating on in terms of repeating–(my arm out longer on the send and really looking at her more on regular connection) let me know.

ParticipantTracy,
I will redo the Shifting Connection with more distance as well. For the next videos.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I love the break week–it feels so natural and I can really redo some of the lessons if I feel it necessary plus I want to be able to have them feel natural. In this next two videos, I am executing the Serp Combination with Mira with two wings and a jump. I actually like the feeling now of the Regular-Shifting and Exit Connection. In order to execute the Exit Connection, I hold the toy. This way I know I am doing it right—for now:)
These two videos are both sides of the first exercise.
Thank you

ParticipantHI Tracy,
Thank you so much for the feedback. I am taking this very seriously as I practice all of my training not just for these exercises. If I don’t, Im not able to really make this a permanent part of my training and showing and thats the whole point of training and taking seminars–yes? 🙂
In this next video, I put together the first part of the sequence using Shifting Connection. What is so interesting to me is that when I look at the video just 24 hours later it seems so much simpler than what I was making it.
Also, I wanted to let you know how much I love the idea of having a catch up week. Its soooo smart. I don’t feel this frenetic need to rush through the material and I can go back and do things again. Thank you
Thank you.

ParticipantHI Tracy,
I have worked through your video on Shifting Connection and what I mean by that is I have watched it nearly ten times. Then I went to Dakota where I train and did it many reps without Mira. I find that this doesn’t frustrate her and I know that our dogs only have so many reps in them.
In this first video, this is foundation Shifting Connection on both sides. I am using a toy with a treat in it but I have to tell you that Mira is less than impressed with toys as a whole. This is a dog that has left me on course (at AKC Nationals) to find a treat on the ground and then come back to me on course like nothing has happened. We, however, are trying again with the toy with the holder for a piece of food. She likes these toys the best.
I thought the first reps went ok but I need to drop the toy sooner. I got better as I did them but what makes me the most happy is that I am understanding it better.
In this second video, I am adding the first jump and the front cross into Shifting Connection. It took me several reps to figure out that I needed to leave her sooner with counter motion and move my butt. But I think I get it. 🙂
In this last series, I am shifting my connection (are you liking my use of your language 🙂 on the 360 and using regular connection going toward the front cross. After I am running down the line, I needed to be using Regular Connection again. I will do this one again as well.
Thank you
