    Hi Tracy,

When I am watching my videos again, I see that I really need to trust Mira to execute the check or cap (right or left over the jump) and stop babysitting her. She knows her cues and this will give me the time to decel and be able to set up the next line. Great food for thought.

In this video, I am doing the extended Send sequence with Mira and I really liked it. I can see how I dont have to go to the jump wing (and I know this) and she will take it and it actually is clearer to her.

In this next video–Shifting Connection on a Front Cross, I am going to need a bit of help. You are going to laugh but I have to tell you that it took me watching the video about four times to get it and then I video taped it wrong. What I thought was that when I shifted my gaze it was away from Mira but it is toward the obstacle she is executing. What is difficult for me is that there is ALOT going on. I have regular connection and then when she is executing a 180 over the jump or a front cross in this case, I think it should be exit line connection. Im not sure where to look. I watched the video again and I believe I should be looking at where I want her to wrap that jump. Is this correct?

Here is my first attempt with the front cross.

    Thank you

    Hi Tracy,

What you said makes perfect sense. What I am sending you now is a repeat of the combination Regular Connection with Exit Line Connection on a Front Cross. I wanted to show you another rep of this to see if you could see improvement. The last time I showed you this, I had a slight disconnect when Mira was executing the 180 around the jump to the right (my check, check). I thought this rep was much better.

The second video is a Combination Connection with a blind cross. When I looked at it as I only got one rep and will be redoing this one as well, I could see that I am waiting way too long for Mira to execute the 180 to the left (my cap, cap) so that I could blind cross and pick her up. I did find that when I left earlier she read it as a rear cross.

More to come. I love it!

    Thank you

    Hi Tracy,

This is my first attempt at the send and I have to admit that Mira was getting a bit tired. The first reps with the two jumps I could’ve stayed back further and I will begin with this exercise in my next videos. Then when I added the second jump, I needed to use Exit Connection.

    Thank you

FYI–I got snowed out the UKI trial (in La Crosse we had 13 inches)

    HI Tracy,

Attached is a video of Mira and me with Combo Reg Connection and Exit Connection. The bars are up and it really makes a difference as I can see that I have to give cues earlier. I am not taking my connection with her for granted ever again. This is not easy to do and to maintain and I find when I add another part of an exercise, it’s easy to not see her with regular connection. Does that make sense?

    Thank you

    HI Tracy,

Actually, the video on top is the spin and the one Im going to send you now is the blind cross. Sometimes, they tend to blend into each other as I am doing them and my orange jacket doesn’t help:)

    Thank you

    HI Tracy,

Here is a video of Mira and me with a blind cross. I am leaving for MPLS again for a UKI Trial so the next time I will be able to video is Sunday.

My next videos, I will put the bars up so I can see how it shakes out with those in place. Also, I will have the combo videos and begin on this weeks lessons.

    Thank you.

    HI Tracy,

I don’t know if you have it as a policy to only do one video at a time but sometimes my access to the training building is not always that easy (right now there is 8 inches of snow and the building is on the ridge in the La Crosse WI area. If you would rather I submit one video and wait for your response –no problem.

Anyway, this is our first Exit Connection Video with a front Cross. I used a covered bowl for food as that really jazzes her up (toys not so much) and she has not left me to go to it as I believe she knows its covered:).

I have to say I was freaked at how tight her turn was on the front.

    Thank you

    HI Tracy,

I have to say that I just love this program and I am learning so much that is really honing my handling and thus my communication with Mira. This past Sunday at TCOTC (you were correct) I executed the Exit Line Connection with a blind around one of those poles and she read it beautifully.

Anyway, here is the other side with regular connection: I took your advice and started really pumping my arms on the last rep to see what would happen: I was pleasantly surprised.

    Hi Tracy,

I am currently in Mpls at an agility trial so I will send more videos on Monday. I am currently showing at a facility in Minneapolis that has 19 poles so the poles have become part of the obstacles–so weird but it really affects my handling and that of my colleagues.

In terms of Mira–she is definitely not a bar dropper. I think I was late with my cue and she was looking for her treat. She is the kind of dog that has left me on course to find a treat and then rejoined me in mid-chew of that treat. I am not making this stuff up:)

Looking forward to more input–thank you sooooooo much!

    Hi Tracy,

Wisconsin girl here that plays a lot of agility in Minneapolis at On the Run and in Madison, Wi at Canine Sports Zone. I tell you this because I know you frequent these locations with seminars.

My verbal system was taught to me by my former coach, Kim Schaefer-out of Rochester MN. She is a great coach and I can’t tell you all of the things I learned from her because it would fill a book but suffice it to say that I have a lot of verbals: Jump–go forward, right and left- turn 90 degrees, A la la–back side S curve, Push, back side 180 or 360, Check check, 180 over the jump to the right, Cap, Cap, 180 degree over the jump to the left, In, In- threadle for come to me and not the obvious side of the jump, and the regulars–tunnel, climb, and touch for the contacts, bang for the teeter and walk-it for the dog walk. I use very little arms or hands and I have found this to be effective.

Anyway, I took your seminar and it was like the heavens had opened up because I know Im losing Mira on some of the more difficult courses by not maintaining my connection with her. This fits so great with what Im doing.

Here is one side of Regular Connection with Mira. I should have put her between my legs as that is how we start out. I don’t know why I had her on my right side. This is just the beginning and Im excited.
