    Hi,
We have a had a little heat wave again, so I haven’t been out after work. I want to thank you for your time over the last three MAX PUP sessions. We have really enjoyed it. Time for a break from formal classes, a little rally, spaying, and more rally while she is recuperating. Then we’ll be ready for more agility fun.

I was very happy to see the decel topic this week. I think this is something that I better have in my toolbox. We did a few sessions earlier this week and need to do it more. Initially, I think she was just checking in and wondering where I went. And then occasionally, she was turning better and starting to understand the game.

OK. I didn’t see the age requirements. Maybe next time you visit Utah (or Boise)…

    Thanks

I found the info. I was thinking Fri PM and Saturday. What are your thoughts? She will be 10 days short of 1 year old at seminar time. She won’t be at full jumping height and we won’t have straight line weaves. The only other thing we haven’t worked on is angled exits from contacts. We don’t do much on full size contacts, but she is 100% comfortable on them. I don’t think any of those are issues for the class content.

    Thanks

Sorry if this is a duplicate. I interested in what you will be doing in Utah in October at Keith’s. Some test travel for Indy might not be a bad idea. Is there a link or email me.

    Hi,

When is the last date to submit work? Here is our tunnel work. Someone was lazy and layering the tunnel to the wing on the back. I made sure in the last sequence to get back there with her to make sure she still went Go Tunnel.

    Yes, no, go

This was great work considering what we did yesterday. Included for fun and just in case there was a question about her tunnel commitment.

PS sorry about the video quality, it was not that late, but very smoky.

Thanks for the Click / treats for the handler…
Here is our work on the tunnel threadles. Indy has a pretty good handle on this concept as long as I am not driving her towards the incorrect end…

We worked on Serps n Stuff Friday evening. Most went well, perhaps too much arms from the handler.
We had the most trouble on 2A, the simple 3 obstacle version. Indy was coming to me between 1 & 2.
    Seq 1A, B and 2A

On 2B, I was thinking about the post turn for 6 to 7. Probably could have set that up easier than using the front cross!

    Good girl Indy!

Here is more work on week 6. We did the rear crosses on jump5 on the long exercise and re did the work where I couldn’t get Indy over jump 3, improved!

    Week 6 lines

Then more forced fronts…At 1.44, I think she did it mostly on her own. As she tired, the improved sit stays were eroding and she became a thief stealing the toy when we started more work on the other side.

    More forced fronts

    Finally a cooler evening!

Hmmm. So sometimes I think, OMG, how can I wait 6 – 9 more months to trial with her. She is so far ahead of where any of my other dogs have been. Then, sometimes I think, thank goodness I have 6 – 9 more months of training! Yes, that is where I am right now!!
I thought we would breeze thru these exercises and then be able to start on this weeks work. Not quite!

On a big picture, we are totally at the arguing at the start line place. Self starting, sometimes when I walk away and sometimes after I get to my position but have not verbally released yet. She loves playing fetch with her Xtra large holee roller. We have starting doing a stay when I toss it (ever so lightly) and not releasing until she hears her verbal. That happens almost every evening when it cools down. It is improving. I expect that should help.

Video 1 is the longer lead out and lines exercise. I thought that went pretty well. However, I did not try to tighten her line around 4, which would give us an opportunity to try the left at #5. She was flying around 4 to 5 on the incorrect lead to try that.
    Lead out and lines

The forced front was problematic. First I felt she was coming in with too much speed and not recognizing that she needed to collect. I do think she started to understand that and will as we continue to work on it. I realize that the handler had NO consistency on positioning to help Indy out. I need to determine what works best for her. I also think I was very late in rotating. So this video shows those issues.

    Forced front

Then I thought I would show her the contrast of the flow for 1 – 4, but I could not get jump 3 if I started on the landing side of 2. Perhaps that arm pointing to the jump again? Poor Indy. She needs her handler to improve!!

    Improved handler needed!

Thanks for your help. I appreciate your ability to see those handler issues!!

    Hello,

The new job is good, but we have had triple digits again, so no evening work. Here is some Lead out and Line work from this am. We will finish up tomorrow am and then start with week 7 work. Cooler next week! Unfortunately, I wasn’t thinking and signed up for a trial next weekend. Ugh.

I was not able to get the course map to open. Perhaps because it is after the seminar? Thanks, Donna and Indy.

    Hello,

Here is some angled teeter entry work. I think the angled entries are not much of a problem. However, last time we did teeter work, you mentioned how her drive to the end depended on me. We played with that concept and I learned. She did a bit better when I stopped early. The rear cross was way too much for her. I have cheese in a can for my grocery list, so I can squirt it at the end and work her confidence on doing it on her own.

    Thanks

Thanks for the discrimination comments. We got out way too late today. So just did a quick update on the tandem turns. Well I am thrilled to have spent almost all day, everyday with Indy since she came to live with us in Dec. But, back to work next Monday. I have a great opportunity with a local school district and plenty of time off, so that is awesome. I am so thankful that we made it thru 2 1/2 classes with the ability to practice every day. We’ll see how the rest of this class goes. Our hottest part of the day is late afternoon when I will get home from work. You will be hearing / seeing less of us (maybe).

    Here is today’s work.

Yes, we will redo those tandems with better work from the handler. This am we worked on the discriminations. Check out what happened the first time I asked for a “place” after I moved her cot to the other side of the tunnel. hahaha Hey, you moved it!!!

    Discriminations

    Thanks
