    Hello,

Update on the prop 1 game. I think we played more which made her wait for the cue. She had no issues with the sideways or backwards cue.

I was looking forward to trying this with her, I thought it looked like fun. She is doing great. I dropped a cookie between me and the jump, which initially made her not go around it. I also pushed it out too far too quickly. I have to watch myself!!! I brought it back it and we were back on task. I pushed it out again but not as far. She did go between me and jump a few times. I didn’t put a cookie in the bowl, she thought about it and did it correctly. So my analysis is the pup is awesome and the handler needs to not rush the process.

On to the blind cross work. Again, the issues were related to the handler. On our initial work, I realized I was switching the toy behind my back (old habits) so not rewarding as you suggested. I do believe we still have connection because I am rotated well and not rewarding on the side, but more from the back. None the less, I am trying to do it as suggested and my brain is just getting in the way. (I know it shouldn’t, what you are asking for is simple). I also tried it outside and with more room to move, I elicited the pant leg grab (instead of the shoe grab). I was also late because I was still thinking too much about what I was supposed to be doing! Second session, back indoors, I did much better. Third session was pretty good, but the handler regressed a bit.

We did one session of the shaping goat work. I was using a large cardboard overnight envelope. She got 4 paws on during the session. I probably could work on playing in between shaping more. Is that object acceptable for now. I have other things (raised) for down the road…aerobic step, raised bed.

(sometimes I think I cheat because we do some work before she gets her breakfast!!)

    Thanks Donna and Indy

Since the post above, I did the prop game 1 with kibble. Worked much better. She does sometimes drive to the prop without my cue.
I was pleased with our recent smaller space drive to me. She seems to be getting it.
I will have to try the redirect for the foot thing. She really likes my UGGs or anything with shoe laces. And if I kick my shoes off, those sharp little teeth get my feet. OUCH!!
    Moving on!

    Hi,

We have been working on the drive ahead and she continues to do a great job. I am moving with her but would like to work more in a more open area. Outside not an option right now. She likes to ride / bite on my shoe in general (not when focused on her toy) and I want to work on moving with her and making sure she is not doing that. So not checking it off yet although going well indoors.

So we introduced chicken for this exercise. The chicken trumps the toy drive. She is also doing well with this. We’ll do a few more sessions and check this one off. Since it is a small indoor space, I am not really seeing much decel, but something that I will need in the future. She is a fast little thing.

We started the prop game this am using chicken. It went well but I need to be careful when I cue the prop that my arm does not arc back up at the end…that causes her to jump up towards it. The chicken residue is quite tempting. I tried it a few times with a toy but the chicken was already on her mind. Next session we’ll start with the toy and only pull out the chicken if needed.

That’s it for now! Happy New Year…

Working thru the games as you commented makes sense. Thanks
I understand the photo comment. I belong to some other groups that work the same way. I recently started using Amazon prime photo and was hoping that would work in these instances but I haven’t been successful. I have done the Gravatar thing once. I will try that!

    Hi,

Hope you had a good holiday. I have a few comments and questions.
We finished the pre-games. She is doing well.
We have started the Week 1 drive ahead work. I am tossing the toy out about 4 feet (on a line) and she is doing great. She has tons of toy drive.
Question 1: Does it make more sense to move on to the next game at the baby level or to try the advanced work (moving with her). Or should I play it by ear based on the game? I have a sense she would continue to do great with the drive ahead advanced work.
Question 2: Should I be able to post a picture in the body of the thread?

    Thank you!!!
