ParticipantIt is hot ! There were some things I would have liked to have done again but too hot
.07 Maybe a blind between 4-5 Tokaji had no idea we were turning before she took off for 4. .20 blind could have been earlier. If it was do you think she would have added a stride before before 8 and would it have mattered speed wise ? Same at .42
We needed a go at tunnel 12
.53 no arm swishing and earlier blind
1.12 different handling option ?
Bad handling line 4-5. No arm swooshing 5 different handling option ?
1.50 didn’t give the tunnel cue just right and she went right. Not much time on there to give tunnel cue and directional š
We did better at 2.45 with stacking the cues.
Maybe should have stayed nearer 14 and reared 14 instead of a blind after the tunnel or run faster.
Do you mind if I do my critique of would you rather I didn’t ?Karen Jacobs
ParticipantSeq 1. First rep 6-7 was an oh no moment. I am not in a good spot for anything, just trying to save it !
In the back of my mind I was thinking just let her do 4 on her own, but never did it.
Missing 6… I thought that was a cool idea on your part to throw a wrap in there !
I think it was harder than the backside 6 š¤£
Seq 3 I should do a blind and be on the opposite side of 6 and rear the tunnel ?
Do you think I could do a blind after 5 and a blind before the tunnel ?
I have to remember to turn back to her and maybe the verbal to change leads so the tunnel entrance is tighter ?
I don’t know how close i can get to 5 and have time to decel and still get a nice turn. Something we haven’t figured out yet.Karen Jacobs
ParticipantSeq 1. It was a challenge for me to get a blind in 7-8. The one I did was very late and I had to force myself to try it. Definitely a good spot for more practice.

ParticipantYes out before the sun rises high in the sky.
Lots of food for thought here.
I don’t think we missed 8 between the mist a bad camera angle and a horribly late cute you couldn’t see that she took it super long.
I am saying “mo mo” cue for tight turn. I never thought about it before but I guess it could be confusion. I think the body language is different enough so it is ok ? What do you think ?
Seq 3 I liked that you picked up she didn’t turn until landing 2. I never pick that stuff up.
Jump 4 should have been a weight shift with no swish arm and ke mne cue meaning take 5 on the wing closer to me.
I will try staying closer to 6 and bc at 7
At 10 my arms needed to be in no swooshing forward (I am a big swoosher which Tokaji does not need. I pretty much fell apart at 9-10 and was hanging on.
Seq 3. No clue why I have here a deep arm at 5.
About the “go” at the tunnel I wanted a straight exit but not the acceleration. I want sure how to get that.
Wrap blind is getting a little complicated š¤£
As I said you had pointed out a lot of good stuffKaren Jacobs
ParticipantAll good suggestions above.
I still could be better at connection across the body and quieter hands for the tight turns.
Working on earlier cues. We need help on tunnel exit Seq 2. Should I be closer to the jump after the tunnel so she sees me earlier?
Karen Jacobs
ParticipantA couple of caveats here. It is Africa Hot !
Tokaji had plenty to drink a pool to lie in and the shade of the AF after we went swimming in the river !
So what I learned
Mad Seq 2.. which we did first thankfully because one was crazy…. I tried to remember to turn my head while she was in the tunnel.
Seq 1..I cannot swish my hand on 4 is I want a tight turn. I would like her to put in another stride out of the tunnel before she takes 7
Seq 3….. so many options and so little time before heat stroke sets in š¤£
We tried a wrap, slices on both sides and an āinā which is the dog is between me and the jump and I want the backside. We donāt use it much and it needs work, but it keeps my feet forward.
I didnāt know what to say before she went into the the 4 tunnel. It was a straight exit so āgoā but I didnāt want acceleration.
I was curious to see how she would react to the turn tight cute at 5 if I were lateral and she couldnāt see me, but I think with a little more practice it will be fine. I am always right in front of the jump.
These Seq has tons of different skills. There were more combos to try from 6-9, but we ran out of steam

ParticipantHappy Fourth of July. Did you like Hamilton ?
Twist is just a verbal that I am doing a blind so come to the opposite side. Not sure she needs it and I donāt use it much.
Sha sha..take the jump and look for the mext obstacle in my direction We are not going straight.
Seq 1.. I as unsure of how much of a turn I would need coming out of the tunnel. Since she was already on her right lead and the tunnel was curved, I thought she would come out tighter. I am not good at judging that. I have a tendency to wait until ahe exits the tunnel before I go. Need to work on that.
Seq 2..never thought about staying where the wing meets the bar, it makes sense, I am just used to coming to the middle. I can fix that.
I can go deeper into the tunnel and run out of it, but I am afraid moving up the line to 4 will cause her to jump 4 long. ???? She seems very sensitive to forward motion.
Seq 3.. I think she will be fine if i start the blind just before she takes off from 1
I see what you mean about my right leg before the tunnel and I love the idea of turning my head when she is in the tunnel.
Lots of good advice.
ThanksKaren Jacobs
Participantmy verbals. Yes there are many. Ke mne turn away from me… Depending on how many times I say it governs the tightness….. We are not at that level ! Right. Left Right turn not dependent on my position. Didi like ke mne but turn away from me.
We tried to clean up last week novice courses.
Timing issues into the tunnel with the first one, but when the timing was good I think she knew where she needed to go. Too afraid to change sides at the tunnel exit!
Looking back into the tunnel to connect worked well.
Nov 3,, you were right she didn’t need a reverse spin before the tunnel at all. Who knew.
Letting her know 6 feet before she enters the tunnel helps, but sometimes there isn’t much time or room!
Because of the heat we only did a couple of reps and moved on to the Nov seq for this week

ParticipantI think I need a.camera man. Sorry thing were so difficult and sometimes impossible to see

ParticipantThanks for the feedback.
Good to know I was rushing and didnāt have to run faster. š
Agree I needed to give her the ālookā to push to the backside, I was too much in a hurry worrying about getting to 8.
On the blind 3-4…a little late. (Ideas on how to handle if I can only lead out between 1-2 ?).
Thought about a FC, but worried about getting to the end of the tunnel in time to get 5.. But with a longer lead out and being more lateral,a FC probably would be better.
Yes, more connection picking her up out of the tunnel would have helped smooth the line.
Donāt think a side change at the exit would work, but I will give it a try.
I wish I could say I planned the slice at 10, but alas I didnāt, but I liked it š
Course 2
I hope you have some softbrake exercises for us. We have never done them.
1:35 was totally late, two arms up means take the jump and look 90 degreesish toward me for the next jump. She was already jumping long by the time I told her we were heading right. The verbal was sha sha.
Course 3
I didnāt know where I wanted to be for 4. I donāt think there is anywayto get further down the line toward 5. I was worried about showing too much acceleration to the tunnel and having trouble with the the jump after the tunnel. Maybe too worried. Not sure if just a verbal here would do it. I will have to try.
Funny I didnāt think 9-10-11 was hard šKaren Jacobs
ParticipantThese were fun fast little things. In general I think I can leave earlier in some spots. Need to work on back side push on Nov 1 jump 6. I added more distance than I usually do for a push. I wanted to get ahead for 8 but I don’t think it helped. Maybe stay more lateral on 8-9 to get a tighter turn on 10 ?
Karen Jacobs
ParticipantWe need work on tunnel exits ! And I need more help paying attention to the course map.
Mas. 1. I see where a tiny break in connection caused her to not take the backside of 6. On second rep I added our cue for go away from me. I donāt know if it helped her or re-enforced my connection.
Mas 2..i was asking myself why I was taking such a long lead out.š„“
Mas 3.. I think I can send to the tunnel and leave earlier, and yes I thought we should take 5 out of the tunnel, totally missed 8. I am crediting all this to āhumid headā.Karen Jacobs
ParticipantHi, this weather has got to go. I must say I felt like a wet dish rag.
Thanks for all your feedback.
On Nov seq I couldn’t decide if I was going to do a slice of wrap. No time for indecision. I need to just pick one and do it.
On Mas 3 I really didn’t like the wrap. Too many lead changes
Karen Jacobs
ParticipantThanks for all your feedback.
I wish I had thought to show her my change of direction before she entered the tunnel. That would have worked well for her. I think in general showing her the direction change plus the verbal would really help us.Karen Jacobs
ParticipantTokaji jas been a steep learning curve for me. By paying attention to the basics, I think these are starting to come together.
She does best when the information on how to take the next jump is as early as possible. She has good commitment so I think I can push that envelope a little more. She also tends to take off far from the jump, I see where you said I need to rotate sooner to help tighten her turn. I will keep working on that.
We did the novice seq. today. I couldnāt find Seq 1 so we started with 2. I tried to handle #3 a couple of different ways.
Even though it was longer, I liked the rear on 6 and I think it was easier on her body. I see was not a backside š„“. I think the backside was harder.ugh
