OK, I’m FINALLY up and going. What I thought was just having trouble adjusting to the altitude was bronchitis and my O2 was staying in the lower 80’s. Still not 100%, so I’ll be doing 1 and done on the bigger exercises. I got a couple of them done over the weekend –

I set the Jumpers up at my place – it’s really a bit small with the contacts at the edge, but we managed it.

The Std was set up at my student’s place. I did the 2nd course because that was what we had. I left in the time when we had a misstep and getting reset because I thought it was funny that a bird landed and watched us, but I did speed it up to not waste your time too much. Seems like ‘GO’ works better than ‘Go On’ from the straight tunnel to the jump, or maybe I just started saying ‘over’ sooner.

I have to say, although they weren’t perfect I’m pleased with Spot – he’s had a month off with absolutely no agility and this is his first stuff after the long break. I really thought he might be wild, but he’s acting like he might be growing up. 🙂

Thanks! It’s really cool how well that connection shift works. I’ve never tried that before. Will work on less arm and sooner cues.

How long are you accepting videos? I know I’m behind and I have no idea when the class is ending. lol!

We did the turn aways. I realized on the first one in both directions I cheated and stepped in a lot so I did a second one of each trying to stay on the line. It seems to me when I looked at these that if my outside hand comes up my body is magically drawn to take a step off the line, Next time I work on these I’ll be more aware of that.

Thanks! He sends really nicely – i just need to remember to trust him. 🙂 I did these several days ago and am just now getting them edited. It’s the turn away exercises. After a couple of reps I made the distance bigger and that helped. This is a fun skill!

Thanks!! I’m so pleased with how he’s coming along and that we are starting to be more of a team. 🙂

Nature made us take a little break, but I finally realized I had a higher place on my land that was open enough to work a bit. Here’s the serp exercise. My field is dry enough to get back to it so I”ll be catching up soon!

I just need to trust him. Thanks! All good info.

I did the shifting connection exercises, but I kind of felt a little off all the way through – like I was too much in my head. Not sure I did the crosses the way you did in the video and it felt like we were both moving really slowly. I started to redo the whole set but thought the first attempts are probably the best to show you so I can get feedback before trying again.

Every bit of that makes sense. He’s a super good boy!

Here’s the sends for Wk 2. I did them the other day before the dreaded cold but am just now getting them uploaded. After I did the exercises the first time I made the ‘course’ bigger and did the last ones again.

Thank you!! I knew it was me. He’s a good boy for putting up with me. LOL!

I didn’t get the blinds done in that set, so here’s a couple of those…First rep on each side that he took the jump he landed hard. I was still late on the second rep each side, but he landed softer and tighter so I”m getting closer. Definitely need more practice on these.

Then I did the Combos today. I took lots of breaks because Wager wanted his turn, so we did a few reps then Wager got a few tunnels or something. Apparently I didn’t do the FC with the right turn, but we didi a bunch of stuff so I think it’s good I didn’t obsess any more than i did. When we got to the FC to the left he read a backside, so then I asked for a back to show him what that looked like. Then he still didn’t get it so I just had him do a straight line and afterward did the FC again. Just explaining why I did those things. I feel like if he knows what the other thing looks like he might be able to differentiate it from the cue I want. Again, I know it’s me but if he understands my crappy cue is different than the other cue, maybe…lol! I also gave you some ‘this is what it looks like when you don’t do exit line connection on the spin’ ones. sigh…

Here’s the exit line reps. Not sure why I got a turn the wrong direction in here. Thoughts?

As soon as this class started we got a couple of big old rains, so I’m just now able to get on my course. Here’s the first exercise on regular connection. Ignore the girl toss on one of the reps. LOL!

BTW – one of my Canadian winter Texan students said his trainer passed on to him for me to ask you if you’ve tried ketchup on bacon yet. (???) He said you’d know who that was from.

Anyhoo – here’s the first exercise.

Above please see my work from Sunday. I didn’t get it posted till this morning. Today I worked on the second half of the wk 2 challenge. We need to go back to foundation work on ‘out’. Sorry for Wager barking. When my hubby is on a call he can’t stay in the house – does the same barking inside if I take Spot to work. When he’s with us he doesn’t bark unless crated or restrained, but as he did in an earlier video, he leaves his cot occasionally so I either choose barking and no visiting or quiet with a couple visits as we do the homework when he has to be out with us. Poor Wager – it’s hard on all of us for him to be on restricted activity.

Anyway, here’s the video. Not great quality – I had the camera too far back and had to crop the video and lost some definition. At least you aren’t having to look at my neighbor’s dirt moving equipment so much on these. LOL!

Yeah, my student doesn’t put her equipment up in the winter and her weaves stayed in the snow for months. I need to take some liquid wrench over to get them to loosen. Will repeat this will all the good advice. Thanks!

Here’s the Challenge for week 2, part 1. We worked too long. I may be part border collie – obsessed!

Thanks! Yep – it all makes sense. I really appreciate all the good feedback.

We worked on the Wk 2 Std course #1 today. It was SUPER windy – you might need to mute the video for the wind noise. I never did quite put it all together on this one, but stopped because we had been at it a while and I wasn’t really correcting the problems. I think the video has some kind of glitch at the last couple of seconds, but he finished strong and we partied!

I think the back sides are hard on these wingless jumps with 4 ft bars, so I”m not really concerned about bars coming down that as much now that I’ve realized he doesn’t normally do back sides on wingless at my place or trials. Anyway, I”ll try to put this all together after I get your feedback – I just had so many bobbles that I thought I better see what I can do better before continuing to try.

OK, back from our marathon drive – 26 hrs in 3 days! Yes, those tunnels need way more bags. I’ve bugged my student several times about this and she’s not really responded. I don’t think she has any idea the consequences. I bought a couple of cheap sets of bags for her and got one set out to her course (light blue and yellow one – not great but better than nothing), but it’s a long hike from car to the course so it’ll take a second trip to get the second set of weighted bags out there. Can’t use my cart across the hay field. LOL!

So I worked on the second std course this time. At the 2:30 mark when it looked like I quit on Spot it was because I did! I was so out of oxygen that I almost couldn’t catch my breath and had to stop and just walk and breathe for a bit. The altitude is kicking my butt this year! The air is thin at 8000′ and I might be just a little out of shape….maaaayyybbeee. LOL!

Anyway, the jump before the frame came down a lot as you’ll see. Not sure you can hear, but I was using my wrap cue, but I’m guessing I was too late repeatedly. Do you see anything else on that part?

I”ll double back to the challenge with the tunnel, but took a quick turn on one of the Std courses at my student’s field before heading out of town this pm. Her grass is a little long (it’s in the middle of a hay field, LOL) so Spot and I both had to get used to the footing. I started by seeing if I could layer that first tunnel to get the correct one. Good boy for going on. Unfortunately my brain is not fully engaged until the second try on this course. I used all of Wager’s cues instead of Spot’s the first time through. Yes, I told Spot to ‘spot’ on the dw. sigh… And his cue for backside slice is push, not around. No wonder he didn’t take the jump after the a-frame the first time. Poor Spot. I’m glad he’s patient. Anyway, here it is. Will be back in the game after the weekend and hopefully this new stem cell stuff will work for Wager. 🤞🤞🤞
