ParticipantThat is 2 hrs away, so much better than 5. It is listed on their planning calendar, but does not say what the topics will be………..thanks for sharing that, I will message Linda!

ParticipantThanks Tracy for the update………..wow, that is almost 5 hours away! Definitely could not do it in a day down and back. I don’t suppose you venture closer to Maryland/Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey????

ParticipantWeekdays are typically even better……….since we pet sit, weekends are ALWAYS a juggle but sometimes weekdays I have less work to get covered so YES, that might be more doable. Would love to do a connection workshop in person!!!!

ParticipantThanks Tracy for the follow up. Are there local clubs that you do seminars at regularly that I could get on their distribution list???? Coming your way would not be out of the question (indoor OR outdoor), Karma is a seasoned traveler and we love to go out of town and find dog friendly B & Bs…..road trips are great!

ParticipantHi Tracy – well sorry we fell off the map…….we started out so well and then “life” got in the way! I must say I really lost my training motivation as my senior dog was failing and we ended up saying good-bye earlier this month. I just couldn’t seem to get my rhythm back and my Karma was (is still) out of sorts! I know, sounds like just an excuse but it’s the truth!
I SO enjoyed doing the lessons that we got through and know I have access to this for ever (correct?). It IS nice to have the feedback though, so perhaps we will do this again next time around when you offer it!
If you ever have seminars (on the east coast), I would be interested in knowing about them. Do you ever have folks come to YOU for lessons and/or workshops???? PA is not that far from VA!
Gratefully,

ParticipantHi Tracy – so Karma and I made some progress today. We started on Week 2 Exercises with Sends and got through all but the final exercise, the complete sequence. I think it was good to take a break and come back to this last part tomorrow! So let me know what you think. Karma has a decent send I think and commits well!

ParticipantAhhhhhhh, this is EXCELLENT news, now I don’t feel like I have to crunch everything in and be finished by February the 7th!
I didn’t realize in the course description where you say “2 catch-up” Weeks that it was actually two additional weeks beyond the week of package 4!
Whew, this makes me feel better……breathe!!!!

ParticipantHi Tracy – just saying hi and checking in! Looks like we will finally be able to get back to work now that the weather has settled down and things are starting to dry out, geez!
Sooooo, we are really far behind because of the weather and we are just now starting on package two. I have been reading ahead to the other lessons and watching the videos. But we just have not had any physical practice as a team.
I have a question, I know the last package of lessons is posted this coming Wednesday the 31st, but what is the last day that we can submit video for review for the course?
Hope to be sending you some of our work this weekend!

ParticipantThanks Tracy for all this good info…………I am grateful that Karma has a great start line stay. I have always worked hard to ensure that my dogs had a solid (no scooting, no breaking position, good focus forward) start line stay! I know at trials, when ring nerves can be a factor, the start line has always been a place where I can lead out, get myself set up, take a deep breath and know that when I release Karma she will be ready and not a moment before……….it is a good way to begin every run. When I watch teams who have no start line, or an unpredictable start line, it makes ME anxious just to watch that knowing that it can be a disastrous way to start even the easiest course!!!!

ParticipantSo Tracy – I am still chomping at the bit to get some practice, no going to happen this week with this worsening weather, ugh!
I do have a question for your though, have been meaning to ask about your thoughts on this!
Do you have any strong thoughts on “start-line” connection, even if the dog (like my Karma) has an excellent start line stay (sits in the position I put her in, does not move or even scoot forward). I don’t necessarily “stay connected” while I walk away, don’t have a set pattern of connection until I am ready to release her.
Would be interested in your thoughts while at the start-line????
Thanks,

ParticipantThanks Tracy but who is Magic….lol?!?!?!? Yes, we have a little break in the cold weather but more snow coming Friday…………I am trying to rent our local club arena this weekend to at least get the 2nd set of games started with Karma. I have been practicing the footwork and watching video, so I know what to do, just need to be able to get my girl in the picture!!!! Stay tuned, stay warm!

ParticipantHi Tracy – checking in…………we’ve had no place to practice or do any video with the snow and ice here, so I’ve not just fallen off the face of the earth since last week! Typically I can rent time at our local club, but with Sabina Statsna seminars going on their all last weekend, that was off the table!
She was amazing and I was proud of my Karma, attempting an international style course, not in our wheelhouse but with our good distance work and focus on connection, we had some pretty impressive sequences!
Anyway, I am anxious to get back to this course, snow is not going to melt anytime soon with temps in the teens……….just wanted to give you an update!

ParticipantOh we will definitely do video! The gal that I am sharing the lesson with has a very high powered camera (not her phone) that she shoots video, so she will keep it running for us both.
I think once Karma and I are out on the floor for about 30 seconds, Sabina will see that I don’t fall into the “super fast runner” category, so hopefully she won’t try to re-invent the wheel with our connection tips…..lol! I will luk how we do, excited!!!!!
Sandy & Karma
ParticipantThanks Tracy for the great feedback! I did go back to the video’s and watched in 1/4 time to see exactly where you saw good connection and spots where the connection was there but could have been held a bit longer as you said. My girl is getting this, ha, ha so am I (a miracle she says, lol)!!!
Tomorrow I have an opportunity to have a private lesson with Sabina Stastna (from the Czech Republic) her and her dogs have AMAZING connection so what I would like to work on with her is connection, commitment and seeing/setting lines all intertwined of course! She is coming for a weekend of teaching to the club where Karma and I train, we are lucky!!!!
