I liked her speed … but how do I know if I am getting all of her speed? She tends to practice really well and is a solid little work horse. She could go and go … which I don’t do. I generally go out with a set amount of rewards and once we use those up then we are done … πŸ™‚ I think she is a fast little nugget – but I want her to run at full drive and force through an entire course. And people say that is something that will come with time and age – as she and I grow more confident together as a team … but I want to make sure I continue to encourage that drive and speed and she can power out of areas where I may make a mistake and slow her down. πŸ™‚ Does that make sense?

Got some homework videos!! (not all the drills … but three of them! Sorry a few are zoomed out … hope you can still get value from them!)

    Week 3, Drill 1

    Week 4, Drill 1

    Week 4, Drill 2

Question – do you want to see like our whole practice session? Or just the actual runs?

Just FYI – I was finally able to set up week 1. And even that – just one of the courses but only because I am as dumb as they cone setting up the sequence. Seriously – it took me over 30 minutes just to set six obstacles and I don’t even know if I did it right. I don’t think I even got the spacing right. It’s awful! But I will have video. There is some week two stuff in there on start lines … but just trying to get caught up and also understand that you may have other advice for me. (I am a hot mess! LOL)

    Stay tuned for video!

Thanks Kim! I would definintely be interested in getting something started with her … and my perfect little girl Maddie. πŸ™‚ She generally is in really good condition naturally … but it is good for all I believe!

Michele Sickles is my massage guru πŸ™‚ and she I think is doing some stuff… What other kinds of conditioning? We have a PT person in our area too … I do have access to a swimming pool but I have to get in with her and force her to swim … she doesn’t much love it!

Thanks Kim! I know I need human conditioning!!! LOL So I know I run out of steam! πŸ™‚ And so one thing to note on these runs is that this was coming off of about 2 months where I was doing a lot of travel and no work was done with her at all … and she got chunky! I am working on that right now. But in terms of her activity … I honestly do not think she gets enough and is something I am trying to find time to really focus and give her. At trials, she does get massages … but I am pretty sure I lack on keeping her in condition. πŸ™ She is definitely a momma’s girl and I know she stresses, so being away from me is a big stress for her. One slight bobble of a disconnect and man does she know it – even something as simple as me making sure I don’t run into a jump wing and she catches it!

And Veyda is a LOT of fun. She is eager and loves to work. I just really want her to dig in and run. I think she is capable of being much faster and I want to get her to her full potential! πŸ™‚

Hi Kim! I will say, Veyda definitely has a really good work ethic and does tend to keep her level of enthusiasm up. So here are all of the runs I taped from our last trial in early November. I recognize there are some handling errors and on the ones where she is on the table – you will notice I am having some conversations with her – it is because she has a tendency to bark at the judges or sniff them – and I want to make sure I have her focus again before I release her. Also – she doesn’t shut down even if I do mess up or do a bad handling mistake … but if you watch the videos – you will see how she powers off the start line – she digs in and runs low and seems to really be driving – but as the run progresses, she just does not run like she did when she is trying to catch up to me … and I feel like I am having to try to “push” her to drive. I hope that makes sense …

Hi Kim – I am so sorry, I meant to send a note to you earlier – I was out of town for part of this week and did not get to the videos earlier. As it is, I was only able to do the non-agility drills. I hope to get to the drills this weekend. I really hope that these two videos give you and idea of Veyda and my working relationship.
