ParticipantAhhh thanks, I didn’t realize I forgot to keep my arm back when I think “running-like” motion. It totally makes sense the earlier cue will help.
Yes, I see his “cheat” in the video – so I need to adjust the value balance. Thanks!

ParticipantThanks, that helps. Tomorrow I’ll work on getting the left side to flow more like the right and not over help/rotate with earlier timing :). I’ll run and then watch the video to see what I’m doing.

ParticipantWe were shooting for 6 feet. Used a 5 foot bar and eyeballed the last foot.
Roughly a month ago he was just about 23 inches according to our local measuring judge. However folks swear he’s sprouted again since then. LOL. 😉

ParticipantHere is the session from the tunnel/serp/treadle proof. This was actually the first exercise we did at the practice.
The yard is a mud bath now so we head to the real bathtub afterward LOL, but I have indoor time coming up so I’m looking forward to your feedback and what I need to change to be clearer for him.

ParticipantHere is the two jump set point.
Knowing he’s just a baby and has those giant legs. 🙂 I was wondering if it mattered where the arc of his jump is or if we let him figure it out. I played it back in slow motion and that was the one thing I wondered about. It seems like it is a bit in front of the actual jumps. Let me know if you see anything else I need to adjust for. Thanks in advance!

ParticipantAlmost forgot. One more question Suzie and I were talking through and wondering about. It’s regarding the verbals when the dog is coming out of the tunnel and going to do a race track. A right or left verbal makes sense to us if you are going to cut across the middle using a BC or FC.
But on the race track would it be a go out of the tunnel to go around the first wing and then a right/left to head toward the wing at the top of the race track? Or is that a go as well? And then headed back to the tunnel is it a go tunnel for them to go past the third jump and drive into the tunnel?
We were also wondering how much it might be dog or jump position dependent. i.e. if the jumps are far apart does that change anything?
Thanks for the clarification!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here is our attempt at the diamond with a bit more space. We both definitely have a good side and a bad side. Nice that they end up being the same LOL.
You’ll see in the video where folks were trying to help me with the timing/position/line to give him a better cue to tighten up the left blind cross. Left feels a lot more awkward than right and we’re both trying to guess each other more on the left. The left race track was harder as well. Rights felt better, but I know I can improve those as well.
Let me know what I should do. I wasn’t sure what might be the best to focus on and then go from there. Help! 🙂 This is definitely where I start to feel like I’m messing up his understanding.

ParticipantMorning Tracy,
Here are the rear crosses from our first time out back. Muddy but no snow! I included several as I was trying to work out the timing between myself and him 🙂 Looking forward to your feedback.

ParticipantVicki and I were texting and she mentioned maybe I could shovel, so I couldn’t resist.
Sure for FB, just credit Randy Gaines for the Christmas photos as he took them. I figured you would appreciate the Idina reference. 😉
We’re all waiting for it to melt so we can start the mud wrestling competitions!

ParticipantYea, the crowd was awesome!
Thanks, that helps me to understand better where to head next. It felt like the motion was more extreme than what I do on a course. LOL. The last one to the right felt the best so I’ll angle the jump and get the motion going. 🙂

ParticipantThis too makes sense. It’s a good one for playing inside : )
Sorelg
ParticipantThanks for the clarifications on the positions and verbals. That helps and makes sense as does when to hold his collar. 🙂
