    HiTracy

Here are the sends and serps. I was hoping to get to work on this more than I have but was thwarted again. The ending scene is from this morning and looking out the window now, it’s started again. Crazy!

The left turn has been consistently harder for him with serps/threadles, and the right just feel more effortless/smoother. I try to put the left in between so we both feel the smooth side a bit more. As for me, I’m still working on which is which. hahahah

    Hi,

The minny pinny we’ve been able to work inside :). He seems to have it if we are a bit on either side of the center, and the center seems to be getting close, but not quite there yet. I can see him trying to decide and I can help a bit depending on when I release him. 馃檪

Should I split the difference between center and staying just a bit left or right of center (so add another position in there) or should I stay right in the center, but help him a bit more with my body?

You can’t fully see it in the video, but it was hilarious when he included the tripod in the mix

Let me know what you see. Thanks!

    Hi Tracy,

Here is his third session with finding the jump. When I was watching the video, I was thinking maybe my verbals for wrap versus left/right are off given where I was starting him from as he was heading to the tunnel. Is that correct? If I start him from the side is it more of a left/right into the tunnel than if I’m by the wing, send him to the wing and then back to the tunnel? I wondered about it as I edited the video. Thanks in advance for helping me get this clearer in my head.

One other thing I noticed is when I’m holding his collar to say a verbal (rather than just having him sit beside me), I am sometimes pulling back on the collar or up (opposition). It wasn’t intentional, but I noticed it was creeping in. On exercises where verbals aren’t as critical, should I go back to letting him sit on his own and then try and be really careful to not add opposition on exercises where I really need the verbal distinction (i.e.minny pinny)?

    Hi Tracy,

Bloopers abound for you on this one. LOL I’m looking forward to getting your help on these. There were 3 things that jumped out at me over all of the patterns.

First, he wants to move the instant I say a verbal. I tried to keep holding him and lowered the intensity of my verbals, but am not sure if this is working or if I should try something different. I don’t want to turn it into any tension between us, but he’s pumped to go.

The next consistent thing I felt was that sometimes his wraps feel really smooth and sometimes I feel like I’m running up on him, and previously I felt like I was stopping short. LOL So I’m not sure how to find the sweet spot or perhaps there’s another aspect???

Third, turns were sometimes wide out of the tunnel. So in addition to fixing late verbals ;), let me know if my lines or amount of motion are off.

Those were the 3 things overall but each pattern has its own details that were filling up my brain. hahaha

Regardless of the bloopers, we had a fabulous time and this was tons of fun!

Question for you Tracy. For the live class this week, are the setups small enough that I could do them down in the basement like I did the first week?

It has been dumping snow on us every day I try to go out and train. I thought it was going to melt in time, but then it dumped on us yesterday and all last night.

If it melts by Wednesday, I’ll move outside, but our weather so far has no idea spring has started. 馃檪

Yes, that first rep I noticed I was too close for him.

He is 13 months old, last Thursday. So over a year now! Boy time flies. It makes sense to me as you described above. To add in a bit more motion, then reduce the motion back down to increase the height a little bit and then add the motion back in at the slightly increased height.

I have videos for you of turns coming out of the tunnel. Just haven’t had time to get them uploaded yet 馃檪

    Hi,

Here’s our latest jump set point with a moving toy. I moved the bar up in this session and wanted to get your feedback to see if everything is still looking good with the height change. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback on all the sessions. Your comments make sense to me, and I’ll give the changes a go during our next practice. 馃檪

I see what you mean about being fully rotated per your last comment. I noticed he was wide at :28 and wondered why. It makes sense regarding my pressure by being backwards. 馃檪 I think I’m going to try switching my mental thinking to “fast forward, slow forward, rotate” so I get the decel back in there better. I think my brain is jumping to the end behavior at the wing too quickly. LOL. I’ll try that, watch my videos and see if changing my thoughts helps me give him better cues. 馃檪

Thanks, I was trying hard to keep connection with him as we start to get the feel of each other. These were all super fun to play with him.

    Thanks!!!!

I too find the adolescent discussions so helpful. It’s great to be able to know and share that some days things work and some days they don’t and that’s all just to be expected. There is a lot of discussion about puppies, but it’s really nice to focus on that phase when they aren’t a baby pup, but they are also not an adult yet. It’s great to gain insight into that period with these recent discussions. 馃檪

The other folks were at the trial so we had lots of extra time for a break (down to the Maverik and actual sunshine!!!! at a nearby park.). We looped back before heading home to give the rear cross a try. Here’s our first try at that.

Here’s our very first smiley session :). I can see where he’s head checking in and I’m late or pushing his path, but we had a great time with this one. LOL It was just fun and really cool to start getting a feel for what he feels like. I figured it would be fun to have the video from our very first attempt.

Here is our latest session for proofing the wing wraps versus the tunnel. He thinks this game is really fun which is awesome!

“Yes” is still slipping in sometimes so I’ll continue to work on that. Let me know if there are other things I can do. 馃檪 Not sure if 0:16 was just from him hitting the wing?

    Thanks as always!

Thanks, Tracy for the insight into what I need to change. That’s helpful and makes sense regarding the rear cross line and also how to help tighten up his wraps. I will try making those changes as I add motion and also clarify when he focuses on the toy on the ground.

It’s back to snowing today so hopefully, it will melt quickly so we can get back outside!
