ParticipantNext was the wind in your hair since we could get outside!!!!! It was the end of a long day so I opted for the lazy game focusing on the new environment and changing up our position vs adding motion. I had a couple of questions on this one. I also included my lousy throws so you could have a laugh. I swear I had one more where I took out the bar as well.
On one of the left wraps he goes to the wrong side, was that me and the direction I indicated? I was also wondering if we care how tight he is when he is wrapping the wing and if so what I do to help him.
Looking forward to your feedback, let me know if I should go with adding motion next or something else. Thanks!
On to the two tunnel games while the weather allows :).

ParticipantThanks that makes sense regarding the timing and
>>– think of it as rewarding the choice to move to the jump, rather than arriving at the jumphelps my mental model. 🙂

ParticipantThanks for all the feedback. Will give it another go and change up the toy. 🙂

ParticipantThanks
>>Before changing the angle, let’s add a little more motion so you are moving faster (if he struggles, you can make the angle even easier). If he is happy with that, then you can slow your motion down again and make the angle a little flatter.
Will do! 🙂

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Thanks for all of the feedback. Things went a lot better during our session today with the changes. 🙂 I uploaded the videos under the 3 different game threads above. As always, thank you for your time and expertise.

ParticipantThe changes here really helped him out!!!! Yea!!! Thanks so much. Let me know if I got the setup correct and if the changes to my mechanics are all okay. He seemed so much more comfortable with them setup this way. We started with the threadles first in our practice. If things look good then I’ll work through the sessions of changing the angle for him.

ParticipantHere’s another try at these as well.

ParticipantHere’s another try at the decels with the changes. This worked a lot better and helped him a lot. Thanks! I loved his face on the first try on each side. He was like “seriously????, you want what???…. really???? you’re just standing there???”
I realized when watching it that I fell back into the habit of a “yes” marker instead of reward placement. I’ll try and remember to clean that up next time. 🙂

ParticipantThanks Tracy,
I believe I understand the picture you are describing to make the jump path easier for him to get along with the 5ft bar, wings, and dropping my arm back more. We’ll give this one a go and I’ll send more video in to make sure I’m doing it correctly with him. Thanks for all of the ideas with this one as I know this one is a tough one for him. Your suggestions all make sense and I’m excited to get this worked out with him. 🙂

ParticipantThanks for the reminder about reset cookies. Sometimes I go into my head thinking about what to adjust and I need to get him back first beside me with the cookie and feed if I need a moment.
Also thanks for catching the issue with the tunnel and slipping. I’ll make sure the holly roller is always in his bag and get more tunnel bags set.

ParticipantThanks that makes sense about keeping the toy back on the landing side to keep the value there. I got myself mixed up with the send-back to a barrel. LOL Thanks for clarifying that for me.
I’ll try adding more motion to this one while emphasizing looking back to the landing side and tossing the toy back there. (Reminders for me 🙂 )

ParticipantHi, Yes that all makes sense and we will give this another go to hopefully help him understand what this is about.

ParticipantThanks, Tracy for clarification regarding which arm to use and the positional cue/related turn. That all makes sense and helps clarify this game for me. 🙂

ParticipantHere are several sessions of rocking horses with tunnels. They start with our oldest session and end with the most recent one. Work has been a bit of a pain lately, and these are a lot of fun for both of us. Honestly, I think I wanted to just have some fun sessions with him and used tunnel rocking horses to take a break and enjoy him.
Let me know where I should head with them next.

ParticipantHere are serps/threadles with adding some slow motion. In a given session we often miss the first threadle (sometimes two) when it is a threadle where he turns to his left. I’ve tried adjusting the placement of the reward but haven’t been able to find that sweet spot that helps. Since he’s a lefty and I’m not, I’m figuring it’s something I’m not doing as well on my left side. 🙂 Let me know what I need to change as I’m still struggling with this one with him. Thanks!
