Here is our last two sessions on countermotion for the serps. I wasn’t sure if I should try to add in more motion yet or stay where we are. You’ll see where I tried a bit more, but it was too much. Also does the verbal end up being break because it is a serp or do you give the wrap directionals when you end up with the counter motion past the direction he’s coming from? Thanks for your thoughts and helping me get the verbals right. 馃檪

Here is simple deceleration. He was struggling so I tried to change things to help. Not sure if that was the right direction or not. Looking forward to your feedback to see how I can help him here.

    Hi Tracy,

Here is a left and right session of our start line routine and lateral lead-outs. I realized I was confused about which arm I should use depending on the different sides. Help 馃檪

Yep, I think he’s looking for a Tony.

Thanks for all of the help. I’ll make the changes to the specifics and give it another go. I see what you mean about me decelerating on the serps as well. With the different details for these, the motion messes me up probably more than it does him. LOL

Thanks, I’ll swap out toys for a long one he likes so he can drive with his head down.

I like your texting idea! Gives me options. 馃檪 I’ve been using apple’s notes to outline a quick plan and reminders for each game. But with the trial, I missed that. I swear my brain lives on my phone.

    >>”And you will also get really good at ignoring other people til after you have finished the rep 馃檪”>>

Definitely, something I need to work on when I’m with groups. Thanks!

Thanks, I thought there were two, but we did one initial session at home where he had a hit as well. Your comments on what to do for that make sense to me. 馃檪

    Morning,

I tried it with food, but the dirt was pretty loose and I abandoned treats as he mostly ended up eating dirt. LOL. It was pretty funny when he looked back at me covered in brown. He did fine with the food on the session I tried with it. We have another trial in Feb where I can give it another go.

From one of your earlier feedbacks:

“The one thing to work on separately is a tighter sit so his back feet are more tucked into him. This is a conditioning thing and should be done separately from the stay: get a square platform that he can sit on easily but not too spacious so he can splay. And eery fews days, just do a session of sits on that platform so he pulls his feet in tighter to his hips.”

Is this about the right size platform? I couldn’t upload just a photo so you get the Ken Burns effect ;).

At the trial this past weekend, we played several of the resilience games like exploring the new areas, the pattern game with two toys, and seeking my face. It was a small trial so it seemed like a good one. The last game was the most challenging so we moved into a quiet area where he had success. He did well and I didn’t see anything that bothered him. He’s more distracted than when he was a puppy, but I’ve seen that since he’s become a teenager. I broke it up with some car downtime and he enjoyed romping in some snow far more than I did! It’s nice to have the games to help him get used to the whole trial environment.

    Thanks Tracy,

Yes, that was “one giant leap for mankind” LOL. That makes sense regarding
“His commitment is strong we don鈥檛 want him to start looking at you too much because the barrels are much further apart”. I have sensed him turning to look at me in the middle sometimes so that’s a really helpful cue for me to know I’m pushing them apart too quickly. Thanks!

I appreciate you confirming that I’m on the right track here and that “frantic is not fun”. It’s really helpful to have the specifics and begin to get a sense of what that feels like between us.

One last one from this morning. Here’s our flyball foundation: ball retrieves and toy trades. And he’s been a lefty since I got him :). Thanks!

We were re-watching your video as a group and it came up that there were no wings. I wanted to ask you about doing this with no wings versus wings. Do you start with no wings and then add the wings in later? Is it easier without wings?

So this one has bloopers for you. I need help with my mechanics. 馃檪 Also, am I saying “break” too early on the serp? I realized I’m saying it more in the middle versus at the 2nd pole.

We had one more session at home last night where I used the manners minder. I thought that would be cleaner regarding the reward. Serps went well. On the first treadle, he went around the jump (like in the video) so I aborted to get feedback. Thanks in advance!

Here’s another set of restrained recalls since I had folks to do it with. So awesome! I remembered to run around the holder and to let him run through the toy (I’m thinking I need to try to keep it lower so it’s more level with his head?????)

But……. I totally forgot about running away afterward for the retrieve part. I got distracted by the other humans and missed that second half. His reaction is totally telling with dropping the toy. T霉lka and I trialed the two days before and I think mentally and physically I was a bit spent by the time Sunday puppy class rolled around.

    Hi Tracy,

So on the transfer to the wing and then with the turn and burn. The transfer to the wing was super easy for him, Yea! The video is from two sessions we did about 2 days apart in order. (Sorry, I got behind on uploads).

    https://youtu.be/OK7FJIL-wU0

So I had a few questions. 馃檪
Should I stay close to the wing until I see that he consistently doesn’t hit it?

And then on improving me :). I was thinking I should let him run through the toy each time so he doesn’t get hurt. I felt it towards the end of the last session as you’ll see in the video. And I also noticed I tend to pull up and stop running (boring human LOL). Should I keep running after the turn and burn so he really has some fun chasing me?

Let me know what else I need to do to improve. Thanks!
