ParticipantHa, I had time to get the rocking horses uploaded before my next meeting starts.
We started with them close together and then I spread them out since we had some room so you’ll see where it took me a bit to get used to that and I stopped short and got pointy. Silly human LOL. I also realized when I added in the verbals, I didn’t get them correct when we switched directions. so I need to walk through that first as verbals no longer stay the same as the FC rocking horses. Duh….
I kind of feel like both of us are being pretty careful and feeling each other out for lack of a better way of describing it. Is that right for where we are at or should I start adding more excitement/running? I want to make sure he is having fun. 馃檪 I’m wondering about the balance of us (meaning me 馃槈 ) getting it together (not rushing things) while also letting him feel the “wind in his hair” and enjoy it. Not sure if what I described makes sense?
One funny thing is that your Max Pup Music is now a trigger. He knows it means something is coming. Cracks me up.
Thanks!

ParticipantAnd then here are restrained recalls.

ParticipantWork has been busy (what are they thinking?? :). I have a couple of videos from the weekend ready to upload and I’ll try and get the ones from the other day maybe later tonight 馃檪
Here are some mini pin lefts/rights at Suzie’s and then spread out a little. I’m wondering if I should keep them at the same spacing until he gets his footwork consistent between each section/direction. Not sure how much that matters? Thanks as always for your thoughts.
PS) I noticed in the video the tape wore off of his tags. I’ve retaped them but didn’t notice while we were at Suzie’s.

ParticipantHahaha, I just rewatched this video to make sure it uploaded. It looks like his one ear up may match the side I lead out on when he’s excited. Hahahahah! I’m going to have to keep an eye on that. That is going to crack me up on start lines as the one ear-up already gets me. He is such a happy boy.

ParticipantHere’s a combo of the volume dial and some stays.
When I have him sit beside me more “formally” I tend to have him sit up straighter since he cues off of my hand position. When he sits more on his own, he tends to get into more of a hover sit. Does it matter? I didn’t want to re-adjust him after the volume game as the downsides of re-adjusting made a lot of sense in your video. So I wasn’t sure what to do???? Thanks for your help.

ParticipantResilence game, Seek My Face
Sorry, I didn’t realize the camera was too low to see my face, but hopefully, it’s pretty obvious from my body direction.
This one just cracked me up and is a good one for us. 馃檪 If you could have seen his face when he looked up at me. He had this expression like “what the heck are you doing human??? Not paying attention to me???? You always should be looking at me” It was hard not to crack up. He thought I was nuts-O. LOL
Looking forward to getting your thoughts.

ParticipantHi hope your weekend is going well.
I had a question as I reviewed this video. 馃檪 I see sometimes where he is adding an extra step (particularly on his hard turn side between the last 2) or ticks the bumps. Should I do more with food to keep lower arousal a bit and help him work through getting all those long legs coordinated?
Also on my verbal, I know we changed it up with T煤lka so I don’t have all choppy loud ones when I run LOL ;). So I try to keep left/right long, slower and more like a question as you mentioned. Should I still try to get in a repeated verbal in this exercise or is it okay to stick with the drawn-out ones?
Thanks again!

ParticipantI changed up the reverse retrieve per your feedback and wanted to send in a quick video to make sure I got the mechanics correct.
He is getting the correct turning direction much easier with these changes 馃檪 Thanks for all of the suggestions

ParticipantThanks, Tracy That gives me some more to think about. I think the first thing to think through is access to the equipment on a regular basis and see what’s possible that way.
Another aspect I’m wondering about is how difficult it is to consistently see the correct criteria in motion so you keep the criteria clear for the dog. Do you find that for some people this comes easily and for others it is difficult?
Thanks!

ParticipantHahaha, I didn’t even realize I was patterned so well. LOL I’ll mix it up more. 馃檪

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I was wondering. What are some of the factors you consider when you are thinking about training running versus stopped contacts? I don’t know if this is something you will cover later in class :).
I’ve introduced the mat and box exercises you gave earlier and he has a nose touch behavior so I’ve played with foundation pieces, but I was wondering about the different aspects to consider.
Thanks for your thoughts or if you cover it later no worries :).
Hope your day goes well – S

ParticipantAnd for a bit of a change, we did a bit of perch work as we hadn’t done it in a bit 馃檪

ParticipantMorning Tracy,
Here is another try at the heads turns where I put the treats in the other hand 馃槈
He’s a lefty as you’ll see that going to his left is easier for him. I felt like I still had to help him more to the right as he kind of straightens out. But maybe it’s my mechanics as well???
Thanks for your review.

ParticipantThanks Tracy! Yes, I’ve noticed he has a super strong preference to turn to the left given his own choice. 馃檪 Thanks for the suggestion on changing up the game so I can help him understand. I’ve seen it in other places like the wall rear cross game. He kept surprising me with how quickly and in what a tiny space he could loop back to his left LOL.

ParticipantHere is emphasizing the verbal more on the tunnel threadles. This is definitely harder for him 馃檪 I wasn’t sure if I should have backup more to the middle since he was going for the end and I just kept holding him till he choose the other end. And then a couple wammy ones at the end where I was trying to remember to move and I wanted to end on something fun for him. LOL
Looking forward to tonight’s live class. 馃檪 Thanks as always for your feedback and insights.
