ParticipantFor working with our barrels we tried a few rocking horses with me being straight and then did some sends from the back/side with just one barrel.

https://youtu.be/cuSn26df8M0I wanted to share both so you could let me know if we are ready to move to the fast forward, slow forward, and turn on our rocking horse :). Thanks!

ParticipantHi,
It took me a while to get him more comfortable coming into my side so we worked for quite a while just throwing the toy back behind me. So here is where we are at now with the turns on the flat. Looking forward to your feedback. 🙂
(Whoops sorry – linked it to the wrong video at first 🙂

ParticipantI wanted to finish up with something that wasn’t turns so I figured his parallel path was ready for more space.

ParticipantI tried to clean up as many mechanics as I could focusing on the handling combo of wrap with a collection. Decel and collection is a hard one for me versus some of the other combos.
I’m still struggling with getting enough of a decel cue for him and also how to best present the toy for collection. I tried a lower-level toy for behind him, but I know a holy roller outranks any food from my hand for collection.
We did rights and then lefts.

ParticipantEvening Tracy,
Here is where we’re currently at with our resilience game. This was our first try “on the road” so I thought I’d start someplace familiar, but still with distractions.

ParticipantI’ll see if I can figure out a better placement for my iPhone. I know where to place it in the backyard for you 🙂 so conquering basement filming is next.
Thanks for describing how to move away slowly while he “explodes” the other way LOL. I’m definitely struggling with that and not just feeling like I need to “react”. I’ll keep working it. He makes me smile every day with his enthusiasm and gusto for everything.
Correct, my toy-in-hand marker is “take”, and it means “you’re correct” and reward placement is in my hand and available.

ParticipantLOL, yes, I’m feeling super rushed trying to get everything in on my side (cues, connection, motion, etc.). I will try to slow everything down on my side and take a breath 🙂 before each one.
A couple of questions:
I know this just hasn’t sunk into my head clearly. Could you describe a spin again for me? FC’s feel natural, BC’s are getting there. I know I end up doing a spin and my brain is still like “What???” It just happens and feels confusing in the moment. LOL.
My second question is regarding how close I should start these combos to the cone. I know earlier you mentioned starting closer to the cone in order to help him understand and balance out the right/left turns. Is it easier to start closer to the cone?
In my head I’m thinking (for me LOL) I need room to get all of the handling changes in, but then as I think more about it…. If I start closer and there is less distance/motion does that help both of us figure all of this out? Thanks for all of your help and for reminding me of all of the different aspects. I really appreciate your keen eye and the time you take reviewing everything.

ParticipantWe’ve been working on the side preference as turning left was pretty strong for the prop. Here’s what we have so far.

ParticipantHi,
We did a bit of colorful Home Depot redecorating so we could have some more options for short sessions while it’s frigid snow weather.
Here’s a parallel path update incorporating the “Get it” verbal.

ParticipantI just tried the “Prop Game 3: Turn Aways! Rear Cross On The Flat Foundation” tonight at home but didn’t get it filmed yet for you.
Didn’t you mention on the Wednesday call that to help bring them into you, you can throw the toy back past you? I think it was with Keith’s pup. 🙂 I was wondering if it’s better to throw the toy or if I should up the food reward so it’s more valuable for coming into my pressure. He’s letting me know he is indeed a border collie and they do have their standards :). LOL
It’s so much fun to be able to really play with him again. He is a sweetheart and has been such a good trooper throughout the whole process.
